ralphwiggum 6 Posted May 11, 2006 Hello all . I have a lot to say, but I have about 10 hours worth of c++ homework to do now, and Kentia hall opens again in less then 14 hours, and I want be over at Idea games again at that time. Â nice job! Thanks for photos. One thing that bugged all of us (me+BIS) was that the stupid booth did not have cover over the head, and it was noisey as hell. Hopefully this year, the noise is less. Last year, BIS had back to back to back meetings and interviews with magazines and publishers. It was amazing just how much work they had to do. BIS was practically there from 9am to 5pm, with very little time to rest.

I'm practically rolling over in anticipation of a publishing announcement or ANYTHING. Of course, such deals take time to negotiate anyways, so I guess we still have a wait to go. Good luck tomorrow! Friedchiken 0 Posted May 11, 2006 i think its weapon selection and information barof course HP you mean health points ? :/ Here. I don't see why there is a need for an HP bar so large. I'm sure that that is the weapons/ammo counter. Personally though, I would also like the option to turn UI menu items off. It's always fun to suddenly go "blank" in a middle of a firefight. It's like I'm in a middle of a Michael Yon dispatch.

Heatseeker 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Just a small poster on the door . I really hope "someone" will see the great potential of armed assault, the last true hope for the once so popular tact/sim genre.. I dont think i would get in the way of the presentation if i was at E3, some publisher representative could become curious to see what made some guy faint at the booth door.. problably the media too, it would be very embarassing i guess . Its moddable, but i doubt they we get options, they werent in OFP, i had to turn every unitInfoType=unitinfoman; to unitInfoType=unitinfocar;, as cars dont have a hud  (or fiddle around in the RESOURCE.BIN, bin it confused me a bit  )

Zendjir 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Quote[/b] ]Only members of Idea Games were present at E3. No one from Bohemia Interactive came because they have offloaded this responsibility onto Idea (so BIS can keep working on their games this week instead of dealing with the press and people like me) & the small, unattractive cubicle: Oh dear, I think bohemia still thinks that the game will practically sell itself. I know that BIS doesn't exactly swim in the money but I would have atleast expected some huge posters on the cubicle walls and 1 guy from BIS to answer in-depth questions. MAN! The not-so-informed press will walk right past the cubicle, I know I would.

The walls are for discretion, when you're giving an interview or having a serious talk with a publisher, the LAST thing you want is for their competition to see that. It makes it very awkward for the presentation at hand since they're not "special" and since the other party will feel like an outsider. It's exactly what IDEA needs, since they're not the type to whore themselves at hotel hospitality booths like others would be inclined to do.

-BR--Dawnrazor 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Question What is the problem to find a publisher for ArmA??? I cant believe this, this game looks so good, that the Publisher kills each oter for a contract
GBee 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Well the answer, believe it or not, is that fewer and fewer people are playing PC games these days. Consoles now rule the market. Most publishers are fighting for market share on consoles and ignoring PCs.
kronzky 5 Posted May 11, 2006 I hope BIS is not making the same mistake as lots of European companies, who think they can sell just by quality alone. It's a nice philosophy, and it may work in Europe for a while, but if you want to reach North American or Asian markets you need to PROMOTE. And promote big time. I used to work for a German company that developed high-end DTP systems. And by general consensus they had the best system available worldwide. Everybody agreed on that. Up until the end. When they went bankrupt. Because they found it beneath them to steep as low as the Americans in doing serious marketing. Those high-volume marketers took over, saturated the mind-share and market with their messages, and the customers ended up thinking LOUD and LOTS means GOOD. I'm sorry to say, but quality alone will not do it these days...
Mr_Tea 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Anyway, i`m ignoring consoles. Nothing beats the scalability of an PC. What, the CPU is too slow? Put in faster one, done. What, the GPU is outdated? No problem. More RAM? Faster RAM? No problem. But all that is no problem only for PC gamers.
