Not read it yet, but they can't have much to work on.

It may not seem so now but Half Life was truly revolutionary. Back then its nearest competitor was UNREAL. Half Life put into place so many elements that we have come to rely on today. For instance FRIENDLY AI, this was the first game to do this (yes I know Unreal had Nalis they dont count)

Also thousands of sequences that actually in terms of scripting and execution were film quality. Before half life scripted sequences hardly had any decent quality and if they did you couldent interact with them as in half life. In half life you were ALWAYS in control. Play Unreal or Quake 2 then play half life. See what a leap it is in Story, AI, errr everything really.

I dunno what you lot are so sceptical about. Yes TF2 was a total farce which had me going around asking whats going on for ages when I was a devoted TFC fan. But look in PC Zone or PC Gamer (UK) To see actually screenies. I can gauruntee that screenie on page 1 is real. The HL2 engine (ive forgotten its name but it has one like SOF2 had the "Ghoul" engine.) Seems to look either quite amazing (see the flame effects or the outdoor cities) Or not great. However Ingame I think it will look great especially char detail. Im REALLY looking forward to this one.

Most people in the people in the Half Life 2 community seem to waiting for official confimation before celebrating, and considering past false alerts and what Valve has said about how Half Life 2 will be announced as gold, I'm personally still waiting for Valve or Vivendi to post an official gold notice.

I am hopeful that the time is now though.

Well they have been uploading parts of Half-Life 2 to Steam for people to download the past month or so. Once HL2 is released to public, people who payed online and downloaded the game can play it. So game can't be THAT far away .

I am still stuck with 1.6 until I come up with funds for CS:S. I have watched a couple of the movies and all I can say is I can't wait to get a hold of it. The lighting effects (Which are non-existent in CS 1.6) look really great.

If you think Half-Life 2 is going to be a shoddy sequel, you obviously haven't looked at the Bink gameplay videos. Not only do they show off the source engine and the ultra cool graphics, they also show some kick ass combat sequences, as well as some non-combat areas of the game which look brilliant. I want this game NOW!

They've been working on this for ages, they want to get it right, and with all this time spent on it, refining it, fine tuning and who knows what else, this game, I'm sure, will set the bar for other games to go by for years to come.

Also, I hope it won't mean 3 million patches (like OFP).

No HL2 for me, because I have no own i-net connection

I think it is, yeah. Same with Half-Life: Source (the original Half-Life that uses the Source engine).

But don't worry about it, I'm sure that VALVe will release the other game packs later like they did with the original. Half-Life Platinum is out there which contains the original game, Opposing Force, Blue Shift and every other well-known mod for it.

It'll take a bit of time, but I'll play HL:S someday. I hope so, anyway, since my Half-Life games have stopped working! WHY!? They were working a few days ago!

No internet? How are you posting here then? Surely you have some way to access it, and you only need to do it once on install and never again.
