One way or the other, I don't give a flying ratfu*k.

Personally, I have taken all of the pictures I can find of these Marines and Naval Infantry and have compiled them along with my analysis into a Powerpoint presentation for no other reason than: I can.

They look fantastic. I also have a few images of Grimseys units, because I wasn't sure if they were Suchey and Earl or not. They're in a differnt folder now anyways.

These units look fantastic. That HellFish here has 15+ missions in his MPMissionCache is great, but how many of them are TeamDeathmatch or Deathmatch? Co-Operative missions, when based around a half-way decent objective, are kick-ass. I have created a Snatch and Grab type mission, which is now sitting at 95% done, everything is fixed, etc. No bugs, except for what makes up the final 5%. The units I have there are Placeholders for these Earl and Suchey USMC and MORPEH troopers. I can wait. Patience is a virtue. And, by God, if those pictures annoy you, or make you want to tear your hair out and shave your ass, then ignore them. Its a choice thing.

Quote[/b] ]So treasure OFP as you know it right now, cos when you get your hands on these puppies your mind's gonna get blown and you won't ever want to play with other units again.

I sincerely doubt that, although, for sure, your MARPAT USMC and FLORA MORPEH will definatley become a staple of the Dedicated-Server Required Addons thread.

Radioman would be cool, but I've never seen a Man-Pack Russian Federation radio that the Nav-Inf would use, and I've checked. So basically its up to them to pull it out of their ass and make a best guess.

Sorry for the long post.

Now, as hellfish gave a real statement, for me the discussion is over. Thx, better than 1000 uncommentated screenshot in the combat photography thread.

Some units are close to finished, some not.

The whole thing will be released in one pack and there will be no "open 'community' beta test" in the near future.

Ok, lets wait.

There are 3-4 co-op missions right now, I think. Maybe a couple more. But yes, most of the missions right now are DMs/TDMs. The problem with co-ops is that they take longer to do right. So, as we beta test these troops, we're also beta testing the missions.

Co-Ops do take longer to do right, I've been working on that snatch-and-grab mission for something close to a week, not a lot of coding, but its all about the unit placement and fine-tuning the reaction force, etc. I find its difficult to get a Co-Op to work on a Public-Server, in my limited experiance. I just generally work with my clan is all, and that works out well.

Howdy fellas...I certainly understand that its hard to see screen after screen of the units coming out without the ability to give them a run yourself. To that end, it wont be too much longer before we allow the community to take a run at them. In regard to screens shots, Earl and I havent provided much ourselves in the way of screenshots. This is for 2 reasons, its easy to take a screenshot yourself in a way which flatters the addon...showing only those items which look spectacular while leaving the portions which didnt turn out so great hidden. Allowing our beta testers to provide the screen means that you guys get the full view, even the parts we arent so proud of. It also helps us to see what needs work! We also believe that allowing the community in general to view the shots allows them to offer up their own oppinion on the soldiers and believe it or not, we take these oppinions into consideration as much as humany possible. The units you see which look 99.9% complete are actually not complete at all...these are simply "revs" of the units. For example...the Russian rifleman as he looks in the screenshots which are currently posted around the web do not represent the unit as he currently appears in our own internal developer versions. MUCH work has gone into them since the beta testers have gotten their hands on them. Our Russian beta testers have been instrumental in providing information to us in regard to gear and and the look of the units and for that I would like to take this opportunity to say THANKS! to those folks. We are most certainly drawing nearer to allowing the public acces to the units, but right now we are having some minor issues with the scripting as it relates to updates in the OFP engine. We dont want to release a unit to the public which only works partially. These units handle almost everything a bit differently. We have mentioned before that the units, bleed, black out, take blunt trauma damage through ballistic vests, etc etc. all of this take alot of testing to ensure that it will work consisitantly with everyone. We have never promised the addon at any particular date or time frame and have tried to remain honest with the community in regard to the when we might be able to send them out. Screenshots via our beta testers are simple our way of saying "hey! We are still working!" Trust me when I say you havent seen the whole enchilada yet. Theres plenty of stuff that hasnt made it to the 'combat photography' thread yet...and for that matter, our beta testers havent seen alot of the stuff that in store. I appologize for those of you who feel teased as to the number of screens whcih have been show, but rest assured that this is not our intention.

In regard to missions which will be available for the pack upon release...this is where we currently stand.

Cap & Hold missions- 7

Cap the Flag missions- 3

Co-Op missions- 9

DeathMatch Missions - 4

some of these have been contributed by our beta testers...and for that we say THANKS! More missions at release means that you will have plenty to use these units for when they are indeed complete.

Thanks so much for your interest in this humble addon! We really do appreciate the interest which has grown up around them and we are doing our very best to get them ready for public use!

I really hope that you can squeeze in a few SP missions. Since that is one of the things I enjoy the most about having a new add-on on my harddrive. Sitting down with that nice feeling of satisfaction and a glass of Coca-Cola. And to just enjoy amazing missions and addons (A huge part of the whole addon experience is indeed the SP missions.) The BAS addons wouldn't be so high on my "OFP memories list" if it weren't for the excellent missions.

I wanted to make some SP missions, but there aren't a lot of toys out there for the USMC. The CH53E and AAV7 are both betas, and there are certain aspects of both of them right now that leave something to be desired in the way of functionality and realism.

Also, it's pretty difficult to make an SP mission when we don't know what units and weapons Suchey and Earl are cooking up either. Adding a sniper or machinegunner with an M240G to any SP mission we have now is not possible - sure, we could substitute, but it'd still be a lot of work to balance this out in the future. Until I know of and have access to the rest of the USMC/MOREPH units (like the AT gunners, machinegunners, snipers, etc.) and until USMC vehicle addons are updated or more vehicles are released, I've put off making any SP missions.

All of the co-op missioms can easily be played as single playe missions, simply seat yourself as the officer and take control of the squad yourself. Jocko has dont an excellent job of creating some great atmoshphere for his missions....ammo in tanks "cooks off", partols scour the play area, some areas have armor which includes infantry escorts, and one mission even has the ability to take out a power converter you can blow up in order to turn off the lights int he town your assaulting!

Come here. Come closer.

Now help me pick my jaw up off the floor.  tounge_o.gif

But, thanks for all of your hard work and dedication. I'll try and only post constructive critcism when I can. BTW, if you need help with sourcing images of gear and that, I will for sure, for sure hook you up with a guy who has access to a LOT of modern Russian combat gear.

EDIT:

As opposed to posting again, I'll just edit. Yes, that post there did clear up a whole lotta questions.

Speaking of which, it would probably be in Blackdog's best interests for y'all to release the soldiers soon- I'm like *this* close to tracking him down, beating the shit out of him for posting all those screens, and then stealing his hard drive tounge_o.gif

Man, you got it all wrong. First you tie him to a tree, then you practice your baseball swing on his kneecaps, elbows, ribcage, face, and any other bony part of his body.

NOTE:

If you take Mr. Psycho here seriously, go see a head-medic.

Just curious about the bloody footprints, did you guys simply add the texture to the OFPEC blood scripts

; list of blood objects to be used for 'bleeding' units (in order of size = severity)

? format["%1",blood_bleeding_list] == _null : blood_bleeding_list = [["ASM_Bldchnk3","ASM_Bldchnk2","ASM_Bldchnk"],["ASM_Bl

dchnk3","ASM_Bldchnk2","ASM_Bldchnk"],["ASM_Bldsplat"]]

or did you completely rewrite it specifically for these units?

btw that fecking rocks.

Tactician completely re-wrote it, actually, I think he did most of the scripting before the blood scripting from ofpec came out.
