Realistically I can't see them opening up a new front just yet, there's still the whole thing about the choice in the final normal mission to deal with and which one of those is actually canonical. Lot of plot holes that need to be filled in before we go anywhere much further than Takistan.
They can simply do what Take On Helicopters did and have the new campaign's setting/details/NPC-appearances signify which prior ending was canonical.

Actually, one of the biggest issues with recent BI campaigns is that they didn't feature much in the way of memorable characters

The Spetznaz and downed Russian pilot from EW were pretty memorable... but that doesn't really count as a campaign, does it?

They could easily continue the plot somewhere else

Miller's team escapes the island in both endings (or at least is heavily implied) and they have a big ol' submarine. They can easily move to a different location anywhere on the globe near an ocean. Also I don't think they would have to continue with having us playing as Kerry, since he also makes it out in both endings.

I would much rather have BI continue the plot in a very different location, and PLEASE make more open ended missions like Game Over, the start of that first mission in "Adapt", and some of the showcases. So tired of the "Go here, shoot dudes. Go here, shoot dudes and call in airstrike. Go here and defend by shooting dudes"

I think it'd be great to see the DLC wrap up the official campaign - as a lot of the community have mentioned, there's quite a bit of explaining to do! But yes, the Pacific... I'm thinking this ought to provide the platform for the next Arma game. Beautiful, misty, steaming jungles, sun streamers through jungle canopies, lagoons, mountains, open fields, insects, sharks, lizards, mud huts, Buddhist statues, temples... I mean, there's awesome potential there!

Miller is the one exception in A3's campaign [... ] Kerry has about as much personality as a loaf of bread.

After giving it some thought:

What if Miller was intended to be the true main char of A3 ( and possible expansion and DLCs ), and Kerry was just a straw man for the first campaign?

I mean using Miller as the link between stories, instead of Kerry.

When we first hear about A3, Miller was supposed to be the player char during the campaign then all things change.

A bit new to the post, but i believe you have the factions a little messed up. The Greeks are Independent, whilst CSAT, consists of Russia, China, and Iran, somewhat according to the story line, as you can tell in game, Farsi speaking soldiers. Though, I speculate, that the next DLC, could take place in Asia, which would be amazing to see some Chinease/Russian units, and a continuation with the brits of what happened with the err... device. Would be good to see some great mountainous terrain with rivers, and cave systems, hell, maybe even a Submarine base or something. That is my speculation.

Okinawa is the most logical choice in my opinion. It is relatively the size of Altis, it has multiple military bases. It has a few large cities, it has mountains, it has forests/jungles, and it is in the Pacific. Now if they introduce Okinawa, BI will have to implement the BLUFOR as the USMC and OPFOR as China/Russia/Korea. But all signs to me are pointing towards Okinawa.

I wish they make a new island, already know Altis like if I were born there and work as a tourist guide guy.

I like the idea to see the story from Miller's perspective

How can a Mediterranean island ( Lemnos ) of 476 squared kms, with a density of population of 36 inhab / km2 ( almost deserted ), had anything to do with a Pacific island of 1200 squared km, with a density of 1015 inhab / km2 ( so really heavy populated )?

Besides that Lemnos has a population of 16.000 and Okinawa of 1.340.000.

Following the same logic the next island is gonna be Australia...

Combining Stratis & Altis would be amazing. It would make the map so awesome. But the problem is that Stratis is like 30 km south of Altis, so they would have to get some LHDs or destroyers or something. And it might take a while to load the map.

Yeah except Australia is a continent, not an island. BI might pick a smaller island, but Okinawa would be a prime location for an expansion. But they could also forgo using an actual island and use a fake one.

Yeah except Australia is a continent, not an island.

According to who? In fact there are specialists that would say the first and other scientists that would agree on the second. For example if you talk about tectonic plates Europa is part of the Asia continent and Madagascar is another continent.

Anyway, possible vehicle for a new DLC? :P

Australia is a country, not a continent. Oceania is a continent.

I've been to Okinawa. It's built up and the huge land area compared to Altis would be a lagfest on today's systems. Possible alternate? Guam.

- Land area: approx 46x37km compared to Limnos' approx 30x34.

- There's a good mix of

Built up areas (Anywhere around the Intl airport)

Military bases (Andersen AFB and Naval Base Guam)

Jungle (most everywhere except...)

Open areas (around the south end of the island)

and the island is fairly mountainous

- Its location on the Marianas Trench might be a good link to the earthquake device in A3's story.

- First instance of a western-styled location would be a boon

- Saipan is nearby (smaller, less populated)

But, I think it would be cool to have a Japanese island with USMC and JSDF forces fighting the Chinese arm of CSAT. Try searching for Ishigaki Island.

350px-Map-Iriomote.png250px-Map-ishigaki.png

- Approx 34x28km (plus Iriomote to the west (left 1/2 of picture), which is approx 26x29km, with small islands between that would make for a very nice archipelago, even down-sized)

- The main city is fairly built up, with farms and small villages covering the rest of the island.

- 2 airports

- mountainous

- tropical

- Hateruma Island is to the south west, and would make a good Utes-alike for Ishigaki/Iromote

- The JSDF isn't as wide-spread in video games and would be "something different" and cool to see done by a larger studio

Encyclopedia of World Geography seems to think it is a continent.

Guam is another great idea for a real world island with moderate urban build up, military installations, and open terrain.

-2014

-Current conflict in Ukraine

-Crimea

I would need a pacemaker if they would make this.

Wouldn't Chernarus be the closest thing to a Ukrainian setting? Disgruntled ethic Russian settlers, country on the Black Sea (in this case called the "Green Sea"), Russia and NATO getting involved, same kind of environment (although based on a real-life Czech area), etc.

They can simply do what Take On Helicopters did and have the new campaign's setting/details/NPC-appearances signify which prior ending was canonical.

It's revealed in the good ending that NATO will eventually give up Altis to expanding CSAT influence. Seeing how CSAT also manage to acquire Altis in the other ending, where they invade it, I can safely assume that Altis is under CSAT control during the expansion's campaign. What we don't know is whether or not Miller got that device (on either ending; Miller never said they got the device back on board if you did save it... maybe in both endings he failed?).

Maybe islands like Okinawa could be added in ArmA 4, but I also think that Guam or Ishigaka would be some nice islands for ArmA 3

You guys do realize that everything that is coming for A3 is already planed and mybe even already worked on. Nothing you write in this thread will be made for Arma 3.

I think judging from BI's last experience, we'll be looking at a fictional island - albeit one inspired by somewhere... but how close it will be to the real thing, is hard to say.

I have to disagree.

I mean, I'm sure they have some kind of road map of the possible next content, but as we have seen this last years; plans can take a 180 degree turn, just how think how all the game itself changed and the campaign.

I'm sure that new content will be worked for the game at least for a few years. So who knows, perhaps some suggestions may affect developers plans.

That's probably why I specifically said this in my OP:

Also, do note once again that this is all just speculation at the end of the day. BI might not even set the expansion in the Pacific, or do a 180 like they did with Altis and change the story so take this with a grain of salt while you're at it.

We don't know how BI works (unless you're telling me that you secretly work for BI ;) ). As Ronin mentioned, whether they take a suggestion or not is kind of not the point of this thread.

Hey, I'm not a Arma 3 player (only played Arma 1 & 2 Free :p ) but I like your ideas TC. The South Asian Pacific is a lovely setting and a possible conflict zone too. But I think it's more Arma 4 material because those are some huge islands to squeeze into a game (if people already complain on Arma 3 performance, how would they react to so huge islands? :p ) and a lot of work to model properly. Here's my ideas:

- Nordic island complete with winter themes and weather. Winter themes were ignored by BIS or left to the community since OFP, but now with this new winter technology on the upgraded RV engine they have an excuse to make it. They could probably take a trip there in real-life too or perhaps even collaborate with the guys from FDF mod.

- Jungle theme. Similar to winter themes, the jungle theme was also neglected by BIS but done by the community. Ideally, it could feature a Nam conflict setting but perhaps the guys from Iron Front would be interested in doing something in this direction. The issue could be high requirements and AI troubles.

- Urban theme with a large, modern city. This theme was already attempted in OFP but never saw a good Arma implementation. Most modern conflicts take place in dense urban areas so it's a realistic setting too. It would trully task the RV engine, AI, physics engine and hardware so maybe it's a bit too optimistic to think in this direction but maps like Zargabad from OA and Seattle from Take on Helicopters (which is also a RV powered title) cast a ray of hope.

But realistically speaking, they'll probably make another Mediterranean island or simply add new content for their existing islands.
