UbiquitousUK 11 Posted August 26, 2013 I think BIS have been selling themselves short by calling this the "crown jewel of Arma III"; Altis is the crown jewel of the entire gaming industry.
EuroSlave 1 Posted August 26, 2013 From playing for roughly 90 mins all I can say is excellent work. Having toured Lemnos all I can say is BIS you have done a fantastic job of recreating the island. Really you have outdone yourselves. Not even a 2m bridge was misplaced. Everything is there just as the real island...
tortuosit 486 Posted August 26, 2013 I think there's not enough lamps turned on at night. Too dark cities. May be it's because the greek have no money.
lao fei mao 21 Posted August 26, 2013 Oh my god, I still feel stutter at V/O 3000/3000M even if I run it on a Sunsung SATA3 SSD. It looks we all should get a PCI-E SSD running at the reading speed of 1GB/S+
down8 30 Posted August 26, 2013 Masterpiece. Also good performance on editor. As good as stratis.
zatoichi 10 Posted August 26, 2013 Incredible so far. Very impressed with size, and art design. The ground textures from the air look much improved compared to Stratis. Getting same FPS as before, with multiple units on map etc. Can someone with FPS issues post a scenario where they experience it so we can all test it out? TSAndrey 1 Posted August 26, 2013 It's unplayable for me at the moment, I'm getting between 0 and 4 FPS when I preview a mission. Same here. 2 FPS no matter what setting. progamer 14 Posted August 26, 2013 Same here. 2 FPS no matter what setting. Dat 2013 simulator experience http://imgur.com/AUUi6Mzhttp://imgur.com/XSuCTN7 Try using the launch parameter -noLogs?
rc223 10 Posted August 26, 2013 Devs, Do you think the low fps issue that many people seem to be having is something that can be fixed or is it just a matter of outdated hardware?
shurik_spb 10 Posted August 26, 2013 Altis is a very beautiful island! I don't know, maybe it is just me and this is kinda placebo effect but when I took a jeep and drove through the island it seems that jeeps physics (inertia), the lighting, the sharp picture - everything became better. And I've got a nice overall feeling about Arma 3 form early alpha to latest beta build. I like it.

pettka 694 Posted August 26, 2013 There has been quite a lot of changes in some addons (they grew twice the size), could you, please, try to check the integrity of local cache on Steam and try to defragment the drive (if it's not SSD) if you experience issues with fps? We are trying to investigate the cause meanwhile :icon_twisted:
zukov 490 Posted August 26, 2013 KAVALA is Huge, the solar power plants are fantastic, biohazard dome sounds good, HAZMAT suit specialist? i'm afraid that to populate in MP all round starts with 256 players minimum
Phantom 11 Posted August 26, 2013 the performance is very bad !! toooo much objects !! :( it's an horror to "teleport" from one to an other place... BI, please delete objects...
simon1279 52 Posted August 26, 2013 Start the game with parameter -noLogs , some building issues are causing a high log production and reduces you FPS. EDIT: question, does someone found any ancient greek ruins ?
starky396 1 Posted August 26, 2013 Can somebody tell me where the powerplant in all the arma 3 screenshots is located please?
mistyronin 1181 Posted August 26, 2013 Same here, it´s unplayable for me. There are some area´s (middle of nowhere) where the fps is the same as on Stratis, but coming close to towns and stuff I have 4 fps at most on any setting. I placed myself on the airport and had 2 fps with minimum view distance, while on Stratis I could have it up to 8km and still get playable fps. Uhm, have you reduced your settings? I'm now playin in a laptop that it doesn't even match the minimum requirements for the game ( my graphic card is 256MB ) and I can play quite smooth ( more than 20fps ) most of the island. The only point where I had a bit of lag is in the huge town in the west coast ( but it is still playable, 10fps ). Obviously I play in quite a low settings ( well, I have textures at high because it's a must for me ).
inc 10 Posted August 26, 2013 sorry if im asking in wrong thread, but what about update for dedicated servers? cause "app_update "109501 -beta development" still doesnt work. many thanks

giorgygr 61 Posted August 26, 2013 I m running -nologs for long time. I m afraid in big cities there seems to be some problem. I DON'T want lesser objects (i have asked the opposite..) -but i think there must be issues with some buildings (i noticed strange artifacts on hospital breaking some glasses i think) I 'll check more.. roberthammer 582 Posted August 26, 2013 There must be some VRAM or some similar problem with older GPUs (got gtx285) with altis because even with -nologs + all settings to low = not fixed anything and stratis goes fine the drive was defragmented before the test :/

Varanon 892 Posted August 26, 2013 I like Altis. But as I suspected from the lack thereof on any screenshot: no inland water. A few pools at sea level (basically sea water coming through), but no lakes whatsoever. That's a real disappointment, but from the experiences in AiA with lake "objects" I was expecting that. I hope this will be addressed in the future (obviously not on Altis itself, but rather as a possibility for new islands). Detail is pretty good in places, although there are stretches of terrain that are "only" clutter and a few bushes/trees/broke walls. The large towns are a real plus, first time in any Arma game, really. But damn, I still miss the large chernorussian coniferous forests... but they don't fit in the Mediterranean setting, of course.
