Streetlamp upgrade - alpha I

Recommended Posts

Well a new version of Arma is out, time for me to fiddle with the lighting haha. This time I found that the streetlamps don't work during the low light of dawn/dusk or when its cloudy out. A simple tweak changes that so now they show up until daylight. Just for fun I changed the flare texture as well, to a softer glow rather than the harsh streaks. I removed the flare from the decorative 3 bulb lamps, as they are designed to NOT produce a sharp light. This mod only changes the streetlamps, it doesn't affect the sun lens flares.

Any chance to also illuminate the small lighthouse at the harbor entrance?

Good idea. The default lights are too dark.

But after trying your mod, i gotta say, that your lights appear a bit too bright (in my opinion)

Here some comparison shots:

Could you create a "darker" or "low" version with light strength just between the default one and yours?

oh yeah, still not tried it. ( Already DLed it though ). But I have to admit with Predator. I think something on the middle of default and your actual brightness would be top notch !

Edit : Also not sure but... can you confirm any performance impact ? I think there is one.

Thanks for this addon, not tried it yet but I'm sure it will work out great.

Oh and I laugh every time I walk past a streetlight, could be why I keep getting shot:p

Great addition!! Street lamps in cities over here stay on almost until it's fully bright, same for greece. So this is a needed addition for realism. :ok:

It's safe to say dev build is required for this correct? Just so Armaholic can add that as a requirement.

From the screens they still don't seem to illuminate the ground.

I made a ticket about this(and I am not the only one) since it seems like the HDR is broken at early dawn/late dusk.

Great work, unfortunately the new lights have a huge negative impact on FPS.

We are talking 10-15 FPS less than default lights.

I don't have any problem and I'm not running the dev build ;)
