I think the really great stuff awaits the Creativity kit :O

The new massive texture pack really brushes up the game quite nicely btw :)

2 guys from Modsaholic who seem to feel that some publically available/findable information is priviledged and should only be available on their new (public) site, for some odd reason (gaining popularity?) ? Seems to be a FAIL if you don't post the info on your site then in the first place, and link back to it :D

Dunno, that's what I make of it.

This, couldn't have put it better myself.

On a related note, I'm really interested on how the whole integration with Steam is going to pan out. As far as I'm aware, not counting TF2, this is going to be the first game to actively use the Steam Workshop. Looking forward to trying it out.

Ah well. It's not like it's the only thing in the world I don't understand :)

But back on topic, anyone got any interesting mods on the go? I've got some texture improvements (water, sky, snow, blood, roadsigns, generic stuff like that) and a bard music replacement (which I've yet to hear ingame) but nothing really great yet.

I'm currently trying a whole new host of mods, one being the nightingale prime retex for the nightingale armour (amazing), the serious hd retexture landscape mod, which by the screens are very photorealistic, in-game I haven't spent enough time to actually notice the change, killable children mod, though I would never kill a child without saving before-hand :D, Nicer snowflakes, very small mod but it replaces the default 32x32 blob snowflakes with a 512x512 version, RSE High Res smoke and fire (very good) and lastly XCE (Xenius Character Enhancement).

Not exactly, the only information regarding that UI is on the official forums, and that's all it is a thread, we cant exactly post about speculation, there is really not much news to it, just that this guy made a good replacement in photoshop and is trying to find the means to get it in-game. The rest of the posts are just praise and ZOMG GET THIS IN GAME NAOW!!!11 :p

Well excuse me for seeing the obvious but I dont see anything private about it, so to act private and concealed about something that is open on the net, is a bit childish if you ask me.

At the end of the day its a simple picture, nothing else to it, there is no link, no big news, if there was I wouldn't of withheld that sort of info. It's open on the net therefore you can find it the same way I did, just like sniperwolf did, I only found it because some other forum member was looking for it.

To call it childish is a bit over the top don't you think, meh to each his own.

1.3 is out on steam now!

  • General stability improvements
  • Optimize performance for Core 2 Duo CPUs (PC)
  • Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
  • Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
  • Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
  • Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
  • Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with framerate

We’re also planning on rolling out support for 4-Gigabyte Tuning (Large Address Aware) next week for our PC users. Stay tuned!

See what I did there? :D

Indeed :D

Great news about the large address aware patch, though I cant help but feel sorry for the guy who worked his ass off on the mod version of it.

Thats really good news -especially the 4gb LLA! I was hestitant to use the unofficial one as Ive had problems before with messing around with EXE files.

Been holding off on playing until I hear its very stable and maybe some killer texture mods are out.

The unofficial one is actually really good and doesnt't alter anything, he's made a whole new exe which comes in the mod, alls you have to do is make sure steam is running and then start with the skyrim4gb.exe simple as that :)

Anybody else following the tyranus mod? It's simply amazing what he has done already and doing (updates like 3 times a day), hopefully he gets the mp/arena coded before the second half of next year currently 10-15% done iirc.

So... I can't even start the game. I click play and it just flashes back to the very same start menu. Lame.

Edit: just got updated; works fine.

Great news, I think I will hold out in offline mode for a week, see what shits starts to fly (or not) :) There are some parts to that patch that are worthy to have fixed esp houses part. The dual core optimised part is very interesting, off to check other site for feedback.

Childish bit was based to who I quoted, but as you posted:
For the sake of modsaholic, I'll keep this one close to my chest for now.
It suggested you weren't posting something that was private to hold out on, but it wasn't, was the mixed message, that was all mate, no biggie :)

Anyway thanks for heads up, promising to see whats coming.

Hi Gunter (or anyone else)

Im holding off 1.3 patch for a short while.

I have never patched through steam (I downloaded as 1.2 on install). I also have a few mods, (data folder) and then usual dx9 / ASI route game folder launchers.

If I simply logged in and updated will steam notice all extra files and have issues? Is it best to take out all files ive added, run patch, then add them again? Bottom line is, those who have mods, how to you get around steam file checking and patch updates each time?

Im new to this so dont want to cock up anything when I sign into steam again, although offline for now.

Im not having any issues right now with the mods I got with 1.3 no crash yet and once LAA is out hopefully I'll never crash again with the texture packs on. :)

Nice list you have there Günter, I'll check them out later.

Edit:

Dont like the sparkles mod, looks to cartoony for my liking. 3D Map is too haxor for me too. :p

Like flash said, no issues here, everything I have added to the data folder has remained after the patch, but it's also a good idea to have any mods you get backed up. :)

I haven't used that script yet, what exactly does it change, or is the proof in the pudding?

Ah I see its pretty much a hax, no thanks :p

Its to load ASI scripts, which opens up many more things, I have toggle compass/hud options on off under keys, horse whisper (call horse), and also no fast travel.

Admit its not for everyone but I like the ASI scripts, I dont use trainers though, funny, I have used trainers on other games such as GTA etc, but something about this game seems to make me want to do everything "naturally".

For the sake of this thread Script dragon is now updated to 1.3 ... going in with 1.3 update .... fingers and eyes crossed.

http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1303320-rel-script-dragon/

Also ENB has been updated too:

A message from Boris:

Bugthesda developers are fucking morons, in patch 1.3 TES Skyrim they did not fixed previous graphics bugs, problems with multithreading and bsods, the game is doomed with such fools. Modders can take care about memory limitation, but not the bugs they did. How they dare to say about modding and development tools???

It's always the same story isn't it, developers don't immediately fix what people expect to be fixed, and then the people lower themselves to such moronic levels :D

after playing this game a bit more (finished the thieves guild (up to the skeleton key quest) stormcloaks and dark brotherhood quests) i got to say it is, indeed, on par with morrowind and oblivion. Such a fantastic and rich game!

what i actually miss is some more unique items though. Especially on the weapon side of things, while i like the art design on most, i feel that normal materials weapons could have been more.

Besides the low res textures and blurry normal maps (i know there are a lot of mods out there to fix it, i am still waiting for bethesda to get the official LAA into the game to get those), i am missing the nordic epic weapons and armors that i was expecting.

Plus a few things:

1. while i understand the reason for fast travelling, i wish this was limited in range, or at least to bigger settlements, and not every cave out there once discovered.

2. I wish the speed of the horses would be greater/faster. Atm, there is little difference between running and riding a horse (bar the horse sprint which is different)

3. I wish one could fight while ridding the horse, rather than having to descend each time a lonely wolf wants to meet its maker.

4. I wish i could stack a few things on the horse back, which is impossible atm

That said, i am looking forward to the Creation Kit, i will definitely have a look over it

I don't have a problem with fast travelling, I simply don't use it :)

I do wish exploring was more natural. Actually, I don't mean exploring, I mean finding. I don't like that locations are spammed to my map so I don't need to find them. I would wish for more AI interaction instead, so I could get directions. Unfortunately the voice acting move Bethesda did kind of made that unlikely/unnecessary.

Im still here reply :D

Lots of mods to fix that.

see my list on my previous post for textures.

I wish the speed of the horses would be greater/faster. Atm, there is little difference between running and riding a horse (bar the horse sprint which is different)

Get this mod:

Faster Horses

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=934

also

Horses sprint for longer

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2744

4. I wish i could stack a few things on the horse back, which is impossible atm

Never say never, get this mod:

Not exactly what you wanted but beats carrying the extra stuff you cant.

Packhorse Script - Temporary Storage

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2790

Hopefully Ill still be on later today but if not then thats it for me til January.

Catch you later!

cheers for the links

As for HD textures, I keep from installing those for a number of reason: the lack of an official LAA capability for the binary(i am aware of the mod), as well as the fact that most HD texture packs cover only parts of the game, and are, atm incomplete, making the difference between the new textures and the original/old ones even more obvious...

This ;-D

IMO fast-travel is rather fine when you have discovered the place already, but I have a friend who doesn't fast-travel at all :)

He does take the horse-cars between the cities though :P

Has a point I think, but otherwise you can simply explore the world and leave the quest markers disabled.

Still would be nice to be able to ask for directions etc :P
