I highly doubt anyone would lack the business sense to make the decision to withhold features so that a few people will decide to fork over the money for VBS. One copy of VBS is only worth ~3-8 Arma copies if I remember the pricing correctly, so I'd say that's probably not BI's goal.
Actually, as I said above VBS is no longer being offered to private customers, period, so such a method couldn't even work. (There was discussion about the lack of a PE license in the VBS thread, but as of right now BISim is only offering VBS3 and VBS2/3-related third-party products.)
Enough of the VBS talk guys. You want Arma 3 to get better? We have to talk to the guys developing it, about their product not another companies product and complain why it can't be like theirs.
Not least because they could probably point to a VBS contract that has a "do not give this to BI" clause... but yes, it's good to see that you've been requesting specific things, and I for one am interested in whether such a "stretched" (no pun intended) application of the rope technology is being used to support the Taru's pod 'system'.

That would be cool, however, I hope they have some very powerful black magic if the pod does use rope, as lag, and two flying objects no matter how close, and snug are not going mix.

Also, started a new thread in General sub thread to talk about Arma 3 capabilities, free of "well VBS has this" chat.

Who said anything about VBS features??

I'm talking about Arma 3 scripts and mods made by Arma 3 users specifically for the Arma 3 game, things you can find on armaholic or in here.

I'm pretty sure there are at least two different fast roping scripts made by the community, just to give you an example.

Another example? Firing control system from AGM, and even before that the one from ACE2 (so it's not something new).

I get BI is running on low resources (even though arma and dayz are two of the most popular games around these days) and making a game like this is insanely complex, but would it be so crazy to consider reaching out to the community to get features already made?

Even if they're not so fancy with ropes moving around and it's just a static object, it's still an improvement over not having them at all.

My theory is that they will keep it for the second DLC, Marksman.

In fact they hired one of the community modders to make all the rope stuff ( he was known for his fast rope script ).

In todays dev.branch update we will add first implementation of Vortex Ring State. It is now in the code and reads new values from XML config. The first two helicopters configured now are Mohawk and Hummingbird/Pawnee/M-900.

So, the flight model for the Heli DLC is coming along... Than something, as usual, caught a few of our eyes... M-900, something currently un heard of in Arma. So I did a quick search on google, and this...

Is the result. That would be one nice helicopter to have, for Civilians and maybe another one of the factions.

In fairness I think they mentioned something about a TKOH skin for the MH-9 in one of the recent changelogs or SITREPS so possibly MD-900 is just their in house name for the MD-500 (being a futuristic version).

In other words, basically an MH-9 re-skin with various civilians paints?

The M-900 is the model they used to record sounds, i think there were a few pictures of devs with recording hardware and a helicopter in one of the sitreps.

True.

And if you also know, they resources a version of the helicopter much like the pic, but with the tail, similar to the MD-900 I posted before. So the possibilities of having this over a re skinned MH-9 is at least hopeful. They are similar, but still, it's possible, and having this would be a really nice small addition.

That's my guess, I believe there are some locked away in config files already, although I wouldn't mind being proved wrong! (To be honest it happens an astonishing amount of the time so...)

Agreed. I'd rather have the MD-900 (M-900, what ever they call it) over the door version of the MH-9, seeing as the M-900 would probably have doors, and there would best be civilian version with lots of best paints for civilians over time, most hopefully including a medical version.

Given what we have right now... ANYTHING would be a nice small addition.

We don't even have transport aircraft or round chutes.

How can i paradrop my VDVs behind CDF lines without cargo planes and round chutes? :(

There's like 20 MH-9 skins available in the game already.

Carries over from TKOH, we are well aware. Not only that, but the doors were also in, along with the FLIR and a couple other things. They later removed the doors stating, "this was not intended" to be in the game to begin with. Therefore, I think it'd make sense for this M-900 mentioned to be something that would fit the Civilian role, or at least that's my speculation. You need know. Really hoping it's one of those two pictures, but if not, it's nothing to die over. They can always add in something in the future... But a Medical MD-900 would be nice. They have the sounds for it. They know what it looks like n' everything.

I have a feeling that a C-192 Samson (Basically a C-130) is going to show up sometime in the future, probably a stealthy modernised design like everything else NATO. BI has neither confirmed not denied the future addition of a cargo transport but there is a wreck model for it. That being said, there is a Van wreck model that wasn't fully developed into a vehicle as well, by that may be added as well.

Anyway, I think that the "M-900" may just be a separate internal name for the xH-9 family used by the devs or something.

And personally I think that this baby looks freaking badass. AAF can have the C-130s, NATO should buy this thing:

Well, judging by the C-192 wreck, its literally the same thing as a C-130. Just named something else. Though, i'm sure they could add a few sharp edges here and there. Howe ever, i wouldn't complain if it wasn't a nice new modeled shiny C-130. I kinda like assets that are in use/development stages. Valor for example, i wouldn't complain if that got in. It's in development, and looks real... because it is real... If you know what i mean.

There are wrecks for tons of stuff that is not actually in the game.

I think we'll need to wait for the announced expansion to see some more vehicles and weapons added to the game from BIS.

Indeed. It's somewhat sarcastic that we have the biggest island in Arma's history, but no cargo plane... well, there is one in Arma 3, but it's only a wreck

Probably not until they release the content to Dev Branch, which will than provide enough YouTube videos to satisfy a dicision weather to purchase or not (for those who havn't), or simply for those who want to see some of the new stuff in action.

Still though, still hoping for M-900 to be what I think it is. -.-#

Indeed. The M-900 was also mentioned in Larkinns character bio before they changed the story.

Oh, that reminds me, there is a Larkin flag in game, under empty objects. Hmmm...
