No no no no. I would actually cry as this would kill any production to do with script / addon making... often need to alt+tab to edit code and go back into the game.

Not to mention minimising to restart teamspeak 3 when it crashes, which is oh so often :p.

I thought ALT+TAB just disturbed pilot locking on target when in AH-64D. I don't know it is a very useful key for other uses.

my fault

There's also CTRL+Escape, CTRL+SHIFT+Escape, and CTRL+ALT+DEL :D

Perhaps just ALT-TAB disabled when ingame on full screen - while enabled always in windowed mode (editor's dream), or pause menu etc :D

I know personally that i've accidentally closed arma several times by pressing alt-F4. Usually from choosing unit 4 while free looking.

I know personally that ive never used the exit button, i always use alt+F4. Would like to see it back, if needed with a turn on/off button.

EDIT: Just read Suma's post, all is OK now, though would be better if this was documented so everybody knows.

This is technically impossible. The reason why:

Windows do not allow applications to disable alt-tabing, as when such application would freeze, you could not switch from it into the system.

Ctrl-Alt-Del is even more important (gives access to security features of the system). I think another combination which cannot be disabled or intercepted is Windows-L (lock).

Hey suma, some time back i read that there will be fixes for broken/wrong voices in the Harvest Red campaign. Related to this voice sample problem, it would be nice if you guys could look into the SOM Module issue:

I though so, but it seems I was wrong. There even seem to exist utilities which can e.g. disable it for you while running certain games. See http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/misc/Override.htm The only shortcut which really cannot be disabled is CTRL+ALT+DEL

wouldn't it been easier to change the default ALT-freelook key than deny ALT-F4? It is he first thing everyone who uses freelook does...or is it just me (5th mouse button works great)?

Good question. I suggest that with disableUserInput the Alt-F4 works the same as in the pause screen. I cannot see how could anyone press it by mistake in such situation.

----

... and done (in 78185)

Forgive my lack of understanding, but does this mean that ALT F4 will still work when that hack that stops you controlling anything in game is used? I don't remember the exact things it disabled but I definitely have had to use ALT F4 a few times because of that hack. I would hate to have to force reset my entire PC because of such a thing.

Other than that I don't mind the loss of ALT F4 (TrackIR here so no need for Alt free looking), but people who use it all the time should be warned that it can corrupt your profile and you will have to create it from scratch if that happens.

The changelog says that the game is now large address aware (that is, it can use more RAM).

I'm surprised that hasn't received more attention. This is a huge step forward.

Thanks BIS!

Edit: My mistake that was a cumulative changelog in my RSS feed I think since this is a release candidate.

Savegames don´t work with this beta!!! (I don´t mean old ones)

Just start a mission, save and try to revert to that save.

Crashes every time after loading, using no mods...

I noticed these beta patches are coming out a bit slower...

but the changelogs are getting meatier and some great improvements so far

Definately worth the trade-off in my books :D

Thanks again BIS crew.. Keep it up!

Suma already addressed that one (from Your perspective next beta)

http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1854345&postcount=19

the so called cheat just use DisableUserInput script command (which was mainly for cutscenes)

I'd like to protest the Alt-F4 change.

I use Alt-F4 to quit the game all the time. It's a lot faster.

Why would anybody not want it to work anymore?

Confirmed. Happens when unit is moving on a road, it was cased by convoy improvements (some new stuff added because of them is not saved/loaded as needed). Hopefully we will be able to deploy fix soon.

This will be fixed in 78187

What if you accidentally activate disableUserInput and can't pause the game?

Arma 2 responds to Alt-Tab flawlessly in my experience. Simply minimize the game and then end its Task at your leisure.

I must have shut down my game half a dozen times in Harvest Red alone, looking around and telling O'Hara to come heal me.

This patch is high caliber win.

Cried a little bit when I saw the quick keys to add teams and the change to select teams. Totally sweet.

I also haven't had any trouble with Alt-F4; if anything, it was a convenient way to close straight out of the game. I can't imagine how anybody would accidentally do that, but whatever; we don't all use computers the same way.

I thought it was nice that Arma 2 handled Alt-F4 so gracefully, saving first rather than just blowing away the process and heading for the desktop.

Nooo! :( Alt F4 was great, especially when you wanted to exit fast! Sure I accidentally closed the game maybe once in the last year but its a necessary evil imho! :D
Yoiu can still [alt]+[tab].
