Looks like you can drive and gun. Seems odd given even BC2 had separate crew positions didn't it?

One person drives and uses the main gun, the 'passenger' uses the commanders machine gun.

Such a shame so much great tech will be undermined in that fashion and with no real prospect of ever being able to put it right with a mod. Still, that's ArmA's niche...

Too awesome for words.

Will this not be moddable like BF2? Project Reality etc?

No mod tools. They haven't given a 100% no to them yet.

All the open areas shown so far have been single player only.

MP video was inside a subway.

Tommorow a 10 minute MP video is supposed to be shown

and EA claims that there is going to be 4 hours worth of presentations for BF3.

It looks good ,but big minus is - No mod tools - DICE dont want any free mods , they want to do a DLC's for money instead

More or less - yes

They said "it is too complex , to do a mod"

The Project reality guys said they won't do anything for BF3 even if it does get the tools.

Helicopter hit by building?

Check.

Srsly though, looks good. I won't touch the MP with a bargepole because of the shitfight it will inevitably become, but SP, sure, why not?

The thing about battlefield is to take the realism with a grain of rice (such as when the tank is hit the screen blurs when the optics wouldn't do that and exaggerated damage effects), it's mainly about replicating realistic appearance but they are taking steps forward, but the main goal is to remain accessible and arcade.

It's not necessarily bad, a step above COD a step below Arma, probably will be looking into this unless they have some dangerous DRM.

this is BF, while COD is the ultimate arcade game, BF is somewhat more towards the realism factor but with the arcade part intact.

Imo, bf and bfbc all exel in their genre.

My all time favourite single player experience in this genre was with COD MW1, my greatest no brainer fast paced fun fest online experience is to this day BF BC2, probably replaced by BF3 in the future.

I am immensly looking forward to this game, and i am reluctant to view anymore youtube videos or reveals about it, because it makes the wait that much harder.

first the 12 minute gameplay video, now this tank video, i hate waiting.....

OPEN Beta in September.

Guess all those people who bought MOH just for the "Exclusive" access are gonna be pissed.

I'll admit this has impressed me. If it's not just a lame 6 hour MP I might get it, looks fun.

For multiplayer, I'd rather play ArmA 3.

Call of Duty on the other hand, well that turned into a joke a long time ago. Which is sad since the first two were pretty good for the time. Oh well, for that I blame humanity which seems to prefer mindless crap.

Its great to see they didnt lie to us when stating that BF3 would be more centered around bigger maps with vehicles again, in comparison to BC2 which is more infantry-based.

Suddenly, the start of the trailer has relevance.

I would like to ask why developers throw so many resources at a project designed to do what Call of Duty does, but do it better. Why not instead try to take gaming in a different direction? If the success of such an endeavor were to be as great as Call of Duty 4 was, the mark they would make on the history of the gaming industry would be a hell of a lot bigger than what Battlefield 3 is going to leave. Instead, we just continue seeing the same modern browny first person online competitive shooters, now with tanks, aircraft & destruction physics.

For the record, yes, I am of the opinion that the "modern FPS" phase that was born out of Call of Duty 4 has run its course and then some. It's the new World War 2 FPS for me.

@Zipper5

Thats one hilarious trolling thread you linked.

I agree with all the posters there, BF over COD any day.

I want dinosaurs ;)

If ArmA 4 has graphics/animations/destruction equivalent to BF3's it will be the perfect milsim. I'd be willing to settle for smaller maps.

Hehehe, so that's why I like that trailer so much. :p

I see EA is keeping track of Bobby's ideas.

EA taunts Activision with Battlelog service (Gamesindustry.biz)

EA has continued its FPS battle with rival publisher Activision, by unveiling a suite of online stat trackers called EA Battlelog, which is very similar to Activision's recently announced Call of Duty: Elite.

..and it's free. :D
