MultiDiscussion : TES5: Skyrim, BattleField 3, COD, R6 etc.

In order to play 'advanced' modes (like hardcore), you have to play through literally hundreds of rounds of the vanilla BS game (because the aforementioned mode(s) are now unlocks) where you have to pump 10+ rounds into people and 4/5 players are running around wth an AWP on a CQB map.

HTF is this so popular? I just don't get it

Nah, I'm watching my neighbour play it.

I bought Blops (and all the expansions) and I'm not ashamed to admit it but the only Modern Warfare (Infinity Ward effort) I've ever bought was MW1 (which was thouroughly enjoyable I might add).

Ah good at least thats there!

Agreed, I liked COD4 a lot.

Should have recorded that epic cod argument us lot just had on TS, me in my corner only one trying to defend it out of the whole world lol. ''People enjoyed cod4'', ''but this is just mw1+2'', ''but if you enjoyed cod4 , wont you enjoy this?'' silence... ''pissing kill steaks and perks its all changed''. lol was a interesting convo

Definitely a lack of skill in 2142, but it seems alright in every other BF game.

I misread that. Sorry!

Hey np's matey, had to double check what i wrote :D

looked like you were praying to the sun god ra, was a juicy opportunity to get a service star for the sidearm, me still thinks me stabbing you in the neck few moments before may have some involvement in your annoyence :p

Nah being stabbed i can cope with,my own fault for allowing it ;)

2142 was good but IMO there was not enough maps\singleplayer

True but i 'lived' on Verdun ,loved that map

If I could bring anything from MW3 to Arma it would be the character models (be they stupid or not), animations and that fucking awesome amount of money that they have gained from it. Oh, and the Leopard 2s that you spend 5 minuets with doesn't look half bad, unlike in Arma where tanks look as convincing as the cow boy out of the Village People.

I ain't going to bash CoD because it is really quite a sound model of game that they have. It is basically a small interactive cinematic movie and a really toned, refined small scale and focused multi-player and that is all it claims to be. It shouldn't win awards for concept but should for execution.

It covers the bases that I wish BIS would cover but never do. Namely, functionality and smoothness. For example, if you want to climb a ladder in a retardshooster like CoD then you can climb a ladder, if you want to climb a ladder in a simulator like Arma, you'd be lucky if you didn't get punted off the top of it and fall to your death. It functions as retarded action and is quite anal for performance and has zero head dragging. If Arma focused less on XM8s' and naked men pretending that they are in Fable on an Aegean island and focused more on smoothing and refining the animations and getting rid of the head dragging it would appeal to the RO2 and simliteâ„¢ crowds.

I've never owned one of these games and yes I in fact do live under a rock. Almost all I know about this series is if that you play and enjoy or come to a 'real game' forum and complain -- you are a COD fanboi.

What is the SP like? Is is a tac-shooter with commands and freedom or arcade, twitch shooter on rails?

Cinematic rail FPS. It's an ok "movie" to interact with, but not worth the money if you're only looking to play the single player. Multiplayer is where the main focus lies.

That's my two cents at least.

It's absolutely hilarious how afraid sites are to review this game in a negative light - It's all 9.5 etc but when you look at the user reviews, it seems that CoD:MW3 is not being well received at all.

I wish these 'review' sites would just f**k off. They exist purely to mislead people.

I read one review (Ausgamers I believe) where the reviewer says, and I quote:

'Longer, more challenging campaign thanks to the best AI the series has seen'

Did this guy even finish the campaign because it is the shortest of any CoD game ever from what I've read and it's certainly way shorter than any of the CoD games I have actually played.

And AI? What fecking AI is this guy talking about? The game consists of crossing invisible lines that will push the spawn points back, there is no AI. The first Far Cry had AI a 1000 times better than this nonsense

You have to wonder if these guys are flat out lying or if they are just as clueless as can be

PS: And IW/Treyarch need to hire a competent sound designer. The weapon sounds are always awful in this franchise. There just aren't words to describe how unrealistic and cheap they sound.

Northern strike is now free. there are several servers running all versions of the maps in their rotation instead of just a couple of overplayed maps.

some even have the ticket counts increased to allow longer rounds and FF ON.

2142 has more variations then BF2. Assault, Conquest assault, vehicles, no vehicles, Titan, moving titan.

The lastest patch in addition to Northern Strike for free added several more maps.

Raven Sheild doesn't have any of the gimmicky features found in the Vegas sequals so you will find that 'tangos' are much tougher opponents, which makes successfully completing missions extremely gratifying.
Errr... what?

Dude, cmon. I love Raven Shield, but AI is far, far, FAR better and challange'ing in Vegas'es...

Not to mention the king - SWAT 4.

Totally agree. I own MW2 and got ~300 hours out of the multiplayer.

300 hours out of a $60 game is 20 cents an hour. That's cheaper than a hooker :D

I play the series for the SP, every couple of years. It is good for a 6 hour burst.

Wouldn't touch MP with a bargepole. Honestly - throwing knives?

I don't have a problem with the CoD formula. For what it is, its fun, it works as intended and you can't fault them for sticking with what works.

However what i DON'T like is every other developer thinking that if they copy that formula and put their own little twist on it they'll sell millions. They won't. No one wants to play CoD: Rainbow Six, CoD: Ghost Recon, CoD: Medal of Honor, CoD: Operation Flashpoint, CoD: Battlefield. If i want to play CoD i'll bloody well play CoD.

I don't think in itself CoD is a bad game, its just that its been the catalyst for countless reproductions as people try to ape Activisions profits, and i think thats where most people take issue really.

Vegas, AI and challenging are three words that do not belong in the same phrase.

Hey throwing knives were fun as hell in goldeneye and perfect dark..especially when you turn the health cheat on, see how many knives you can get sticking out of a persons body before they die.

Hmm. time to get out of the trenches guys and accept the fun factor.

How ever wrong it is to rape an old franchise with false promises (or openly admitting dumbing down) one has to adjust with different trends.

The games are aiming for profit after all. Few devs have the backbone of BIS when it comes to community friendliness.

One should not however blame the console players for reducing the "tactical elements" in serious gaming. At least most of the developers seem to be anxious for gaining respect on that agenda.

I myself seem to be drifting more and more back to console gaming but the reasons are mainly family oriented. I need a quick vessel to jump in when I have that small amount of spare time in my hands. Just finished Uncharted 3 and it was an experience that will remain a wow factor for years I believe.

One suspicious thing about the new RS game is how they manage to handle the internal terrorism thing.

Do they really have the guts to dig deep in or will it be another shallow plot that is glued on top?

This and more will be revealed at same bat time on same bat channel.

Oh, for sure, but those games didn't have the whole "indirect fire" aspect that knives seem to have taken on in CoD.

I mean, srsly, last second save with a knife because it bounced off a roof and hit some poor n00b's thumb? lolqué?
