massi 772 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) by massi US ARMY RANGERS for Combined Operation With working wound textures!!! Hi all, As I did for my Italian SOF , I’ve updated my US Army Ranger for combined operations, they now use BI Delta Force models, but with working wound textures , thanks to the help and Rvmat reference from StalkerGB . For “Arma2 only†users the old version is still available and working (check the old forum for DL links). As always please report bugs and suggestions , hope you’ll enjoy this new pack. Description This addon is a retexture of Arma2 OA Delta Force, meant to represent US Army Rangers from the 75th Regiment in different camouflages, as following : : - Ranger(ACU): Rangers in ACU uniforms, some of them wearing PCU jackets.- Ranger(PCU): wearing PCu uniform. - Ranger(Multicam): for every environment. - Ranger(Desert): desert and arid environment. - Ranger(Woodland): for temperate and woodland environment. I used what I found on web as reference sources. Features: - All the models HAVE WORKING WOUND TEXTURES .- Units are equipped some with M4 and some with SCARS, I've tried to balance the gear as best as I could. - Every class (sorted by camos) has a wide variety of roles, and featured groups in the editor. - New "Engineer" ability for the sapper , and all the others can hide bodies. - Featured content rucksacks. - Optional ACE config with ACEX gear available, including ACE "AI talk" module support. - 4 Replacement files that replace standard BI US delta force models with the ones in your preferred camo ( des, mult , ACU or wood), with WORKING WOUND TEXTURES off course! Installation. Put the addons in the "mod folder" of your preference, you will now find the units in the editor under: Bluefor - US Army - 75th Rangers ... (sorted by different camos) you'll find groups also under: Bluefor - US Army - 75th Rangers ... (as above). Requirements. It requires Arma 2 Combined Operations (A2 + OA) to run , because it uses OA models and some A2 weapons. ACE2 config files Installation. Just put the ACE2 Optional Config (called "mas_us_rangs_ACE.pbo") in the modfolder of your preference and you'll see in the editor only the 75th Rangers ACE classes. This config DO NOT replace original Rangers units, instead it only "hide" them in the editor by setting them as "protected", I did in this way in order to get the maximum compatibility and to avoid changing classnames of the units (for mix makers). Units and organizzation are the same as for standard Rangers, but they're all equipped with ACEX gear and weapons (this means for example that all of them have one bandage, and medics have drugs too, or that spotters have spotter scopes and rangefiders, demo expert uses ACEX explosives too, etc). Units now are under Bis US Army faction, so they use "English" if Ace AI Talk is enabled. Units and Groups are the same as for vanilla game, as following:. Bluefor - US Army - 75th Rangers ACE ... (sorted by different camos) Replacement Pack Installation. You'll find 4 different replacement files, you can use ONLY ONE AT A TIME !!! Just choose your preferred camo (deset, acu, woodland, or multicam), and put the relative replacement in a modfolder, you'll see standard BI Delta Force models replaced by US Army Rangers ones, all with working wound textures. Graves characters (light and heavy) are replaced as well ... so you can play the campaign again, with a bit different feeling. Changelog. v1.03 date 09/SET/2011 - Added full PCU uniform units, with their own class and groups. - Added full PCU uniform units replacement for BI Delta units. - Added new "basic" classes : Rifleman and Grenadier, as requested. - Added new specialist classes : CQB Operator and Breacher. - Reduced number of units with mixed camos, as requested. v1.02 date 11/SET/2010 - Reworked Desert DCU textures. - Small changes for other textures. - Left a free shoulder for squad xml patch. - Added custom backpacks in ACE config. v1.01 date 03/SEP/2010 - Units now are under Bis "US Army" faction. - ACE config now hide standard Rangers units and groups (NO class name changes for mix makers!). - Removed Ranger's scrolls and patches , and added custom ones in order to improve realism. - Added Oackley boots. - Few textures adjustments. v1.00 date 01/SEP/2010 - first release Bugs. No problems found so far, no RPT errors, tested both in vanilla, beta and with ACE2. Credit. ThankYou very much to StalkerGB, without his great Rvmat and support I would never had solved the wound textures issue... thanks a lot mate !!! bugkill 7 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) Great work! The only thing that I would strongly suggest changing would be taking away the ranger scrolls and airborne/ranger tabs (they don't wear airborne tabs over their scroll, only the ranger tab would go above the unit patch which is on the left arm). Rangers usually don't wear any unit identification while operational, so to be accurate, you should take off the scrolls and airborne/ranger tabs, but leave the IR flag and custom patch (which I can't clearly see). Just my .02 cents. Edited September 1, 2010 by bugkill

Snake Man 407 Posted September 1, 2010 Credit.ThankYou very much to StalkerGB, without his great Rvmat and support I would never had solved the wound textures issue... thanks a lot mate !!! Where did the PMC Editing Wiki page fall short on explaining how to do wound textures? I don't care about credits for me/our wiki, I care about if the page is difficult to understand as it seems you were not able to find it useful.

(st6)predator 0 Posted September 1, 2010 Perhaps would it be possible to integrate the Rangers to the USA Faction? I imagine that like This in the Editor : USA--> US Army Rangers (CO) Kind Regards (ST6)Predator
massi 772 Posted September 1, 2010 Thanks a lot again ;) ! Foxhound : thankYou very much for dl link and frontpage , really appreciate ;) Predator : well yes I tried it, but unfortunately I've only 2 "steps" for the units in the editor, so doing in the way you suggested will force to put all the 56 units in only one drop menu...quite confusing I think , anyway thanks a lot for the suggestion, and please keep on reporting :) cheers massi

AnimalMother92 10 Posted September 1, 2010 Really glad to see these released, I missed them. Perhaps would it be possible to integrate the Rangers to the USA Faction?I imagine that like This in the Editor : USA--> US Army Rangers (CO) well yes I tried it, but unfortunately I've only 2 "steps" for the units in the editor, so doing in the way you suggested will force to put all the 56 units in only one drop menu...quite confusing I think , anyway thanks a lot for the suggestion, and please keep on reporting :) I agree, I would really prefer having extra Classes under the US Army faction rather than an entirely new faction. Faction: US Army Class: Rangers (ACU) .........Rangers (Multicam) .........and so on. Also, with the ACE config, could it hide the default units? So instead of having Rangers (CO) AND Rangers (CO+ACE) it would just have the ACE ones. Chances are if you're using that config then you probably don't want to see the extra unit clutter. Anyways...really nice to see these guys, great textures as usual
Jonn 10 Posted September 2, 2010 Nice job man, The only thing that looks a little odd are the boots, The ARMY Team Leader has Oakley boots, Why not use them ?
Fox '09 14 Posted September 2, 2010 he doesn't work with mlods , , but maybe a texture change might help ..
-)rStrangelove 0 Posted September 2, 2010 Awesome, i like the desert ones. (tired of ACU by now) Big THX for the replacement config! :)

enad 11 Posted September 2, 2010 Only thing I can pick out is the PCU is a little bright and doesnt have a "cloth" look to it, it just looks plastic almost. Also, the ACU has strange tints of red in the white spots.

massi 772 Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) Hi , thanks a lot to all of you guys for reporting the issues , really appreciate ;) ! I'm already working on a new version that will fix the most part of the issue you had reported : - US Rangers now are under Bis US Army faction in this way : - US Army - 75th Ranger (ACU) - 75th Ranger (multicam) - 75th Ranger (desert) - 75th Ranger (woodland) - ACE Optional config now show only ACE Rangers units, this cfg does not replace original Ranger units, but instead just put them as "protected" so you actually can see only ACE Ranger units in your editor, I choose this way in order to preserve compatibility and to avoid changing classnames (for mix editors). - Removed Rangers scrolls and Ranger\Airborne tabs, as wisely reported a combat unit on the ground woldn't be so happy to show off what kind of unit they are, instead I placed some nice (almost for me :) ) unit patches : - don't worry only the sappers wear this nice IR EOD patch :) . - And as you see they now wear Oakleys boots. - Tried to remove a little bit the reddish part in ACU (hardest part as I'm colorblind unfortunately :) ) and darken a bit PCU, and I thought it was something like nilon\waterproof stuff so I left it pretty plastic like. - For other texture: now I have little time to work on them...so I'll keep them as they are for a while. so if everithing go well in testing I'll release them by tomorrow afternoon . ThankYou very much to ALL OF YOU for costant reporting and for the nice words, you're helping me a lot. Best Regards, massi Edited September 2, 2010 by massi
