Taviana Island for ArmA 2!

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry for not updating this thread for so long, I was very busy past these couple of months but now I'm back and I'm working on the island again from where I left off.

Just to give you a summary of what has been done already and what still needs to be done before I release the BETA:

  • Terrain elevation: 100% DONE!
  • Satellite mask: 90% (~2 days to finish)
  • Layer mask: 100% DONE!
  • Object Placement: 80% (~ 1 weeks to finish)
  • Modelling: 80% (~ 1 - 2 weeks to finish, this is the hardest and takes the most time...)

BETA Release ETA: 3 weeks

Realistic highway with hard shoulder, please note that the forest around is not finished and therefore looks a bit strange. (There will also be other road signs e.g. 120km/h, roundabout etc...)

Mate. I'm loving your dedication to realism. That tram yard looks great!

From these new screenies its looking better than ever!

Its still got that real Flashpoint feel which I'll never scoff at!

I dunno if this has been answerd before but are you going to make an army for this island, like Tavianan Armed forces? would be pretty cool if you did. :)

I'm glad that you asked that.

The answer is yes, the island will have its own army complete with vehicles, airplanes and armour. In fact I already have two units ready on which I will base the rest of the army, other units will have different head gear, backpacks etc...

Thanks to Tankist001, who retextured these guys for me :smile_o:

But the army wont be done in this BETA, possably in BETA 2.

Whats up guys, its time for the next Taviana update.

One of the things that I've always missed in ArmA 2, and in fact most other FPS games are schools, so I decided to make one my self, after all, what is a country without schools?

This map does not have any land borders, its an island.

Mate! This island is getting better and better. Can't wait to have a drive around. It will open up all sorts of situations for missions also.

Will you be looking to implement ALICE?

Yep, but I won't have enough time to implement it in this BETA. I have to research how it works a bit and then start to implement it. I can't promise it but maybe in BETA 2 (coming out in the summer) it will be available. Right now I'm just trying to finish the South of the island and the capital city which has been torturing me for months so I can finally move to the country side again.

Just read your blog. I hope your workstations aren't that tidy in reality because if they are that is just plain weird!!!
