British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

Im getting a "This application has failed to start because MSVCP71.dll was not found" when i try to download the game and its pisssing me off sine i have already paid for it and there is no other option to download.

I would recomend that anyone else waits a day or two for this problem to be solved.

There is one other download option, directly off Sprockets site. Unfortunately it's extremely slow, however with those missing .dll files I realized it first said I was missing MSVCP71.dll. When it didn't work after acquiring that, I didn't realize it was then saying MSVCR71.dll, so I needed both to start the Sprocket application. After that it was smooth sailing.

What's the deal with this? There's got to be a better answer then to DL some program(posted by someone here), run some program that needs to be activated just to DL the missing file.

I can't even seem to find any info about this missing file at the Sprocket site.

My pleasure - it was doing my head in too (not least because of my tooth.) I will say it looks like a bit of a screw up on their part but they helped me get it fixed. Nedley has posted this info on the board as well and it would be very nice if the mods could possibly sticky it?

Yer this got mine working, Arma Forums saved me again.

Got to say its still a mess, the BFA looks good but im not going to be getting any other DLC till i know stuff like this wont happen.

I know sproket is a small developer that BIS want to support but at least test to make sure that people are going to be able to use the downloads they sell, some people ant going to find this thread and they are going to have payed for something thet can't use!

I was going to get the DLC until I saw what the 'lite' version looked like. You can call it whatever you want, but I call it a shitty move on BIS's part to even release such horrible units as lite version.

I mean come on Novalogic put more effort into their work than what put into this 'lite' version. All I wanted in the patch was some of the new features, not to be insulted with their crappy lite DLC. If I wanted to actual DLC I would have dished out 10 bucks. BIS has really lost it's way.

Challenger 2 was never announced as part of the package. In fact that's one of the things some folks were bitching about upon it's announcement.

So basically you'd rather have nothing at all and segregate the community? Splitting in 2 wouldn't be too bad, but as more DLC packs come what do you think is going to happen? You have 3 DLC packs, you'd have vanilla servers, servers running just one of each, servers running two of each, and servers running all 3. With just 3 DLC packs you'd only be able to play in 1 out of 8 servers. You don't like the units, don't use them. Avoid them if you can. Nobody is forcing you to look at them, they're just placeholders for compatibility purposes.

You have seen the amount of "split the MP community" "why should I NEED a DLC to play online" ... posts, right? I think you are realy missing the point. BTW how many addons do you have that you dont play all the time? Simple really, you dont play the DLC units, you just have placeholders in your arma unit list, just incase you go online and a server does, and guess what, you magically dont get kicked. Then after playing and maybe realising alot where you play people use it and your more interested, you then buy it ... what it doesn't do is stop you playing on servers with it.

I have the DLC coming now and I completely understand the logic of it.

BTW one thing I dont like is no option from sprocket.exe to let you decide what drive to download too, its a large assumption that C: drive is big enough for some people, mine is enough but quite fragmented, all my downloads go to a completely dedicated separate drive, maybe the exe should be updated for that. Mind you I should report that to sprocket than here I suppose ... unless I missed something of course.

Anyways, speak for yourself on the DLC issue. BIS haven't lost their way, in fact they're reinforcing it by supporting the community so well and helping with their concerns.

I still don't see what you are on about? Without the DLC all you are seeing for the UK units is basically cell shaded GI Joe toys at the lowest possible texture detail. Unlike you there was a rather largely voiced opinion across the community about possible splits with the inclusion of DLC. I wasn't one of them, but as for solutions to shut them up I think this is probably one of the better solutions that BIS implemented. Would you rather they put in yellow stick figures, and soap box cars as place holders?
