mcnools 62 Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) EDIT: First version released: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1684665#post1684665 Well, I wanted some sort of special forces guys in more civilian clothing, with local clothing aswell, so I started doing this. I just called them "Tier One Operators" because I saw some screenshots for the next medal of honor-game, and I wanted these kind of soldiers in Operation Arrowhead, for some nice missions behind enemy lines etc, sort of like the opening sequence in Operation Arrowhead, only more.. well-equiped. I left them generic on purpose, so that people can use them for pretty much any Blufor-team (although I've put them in the US category). Anyway, here's a screenshot on what I've accomplished so far, any suggestions are welcome (I will give them SCAR-rifles etc. later): Edited July 19, 2010 by McNools

belgerot 33 Posted July 14, 2010 Very nice work so far, leaving them generic easily allows for a variety of uses.
mcnools 62 Posted July 14, 2010 Thank you very much everyone, didn't expect people to be so positive! I'd love to make them use beard-models, but I'm not sure how to do this, or if it's even possible without editing the model itself (which isn't possible). And yes, if I leave them generic they can be both CIA or 1st SOG or something else! :)
Stagler 39 Posted July 14, 2010 They need beardy heads yo.

How about applying the normal face texture from the non-beard model to a beard-model head? wouldn't that work?

I'm not sure, but I'll see what I can do on my own. :) Edit: If you can assign which head-model the unit uses in the config, it could probably work, does anyone know how to? Drumheller 19 Posted July 14, 2010 I like it but I don't think anyone IRL would ever be caught alive wearing the hat that guy on the left is wearing.
DRoberts69 10 Posted July 14, 2010 Yeah I was thinking some more of this type of unit would be good and would tie in well with Takistan setting, It would be cool if there was some way of making them less noticeable to close buy enemies so there could be more of a close recon element. Drumheller 19 Posted July 14, 2010 Just in case you really dont know what it is:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pakul :p Haha ok well I learned something today :p I suppose it would be good for an operator who is trying to blend in with the locals.
Fox '09 14 Posted July 14, 2010 I like the pizza hat on the units, nice job
mcnools 62 Posted July 14, 2010 If everything goes smooth, you can expect a variant with a kufiya around his head aswell as a version with a boonie-hat. (Using the KSK-models)
Devil Dogs SF 13 Posted July 14, 2010 Great idea, I've been looking for something like this.
UKMERC 10 Posted July 14, 2010 Reminds me of a film called "The Objective" CIA and spec ops running round in jeans and local dress pretty good mate
mcnools 62 Posted July 14, 2010 This is progressing well thanks to Lennard who gave me a template for one of the KSK-models, which sped up work on that one significantly. Here's a screenshot: Tomorrow I'll try to do some stuff to the normal-maps, and then maybe a beta release. :)

STALKERGB 6 Posted July 14, 2010 @McNools, if you load up the takistan map and then go back to the main menu there is a little cutscene with Czech SF in it, one of the guys has a beard and IIRC the face is a western one. It might be worth having a look at the mission file in the editor to see if they name the face used on him.
RogueScotsman 10 Posted July 15, 2010 Tier one is DEVGRU and Delta, there probably are more from the other branches and all, but thats the main two. I love the units though man, especially the guy on the far left, and the one thats standing on the far right. Somebody needs to redo all the Spec Ops units now that OA is out, kinda off topic sorry, we could get the Rangers using the OA ACU and then with these guys we'd have a whole lot of options instead of basic Infantry :)
