ArmA2 1.05 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here

Question, when I'm using some weapons, the bullets seems to be going all over the place. And please, no "you're using counterfeit copy", I bought mine on the release day. So anyone can help?

Just finished up EW. much better than I was expecting. very nice

even managed to get through that whole "flying" bit :p

If your copy is legit then just do a reinstall (or undo any changes you may have made). and make sure not to tamper with core files

Haven't had much time to play, but a few nice things I noted:

-More penetration by large caliber rounds, do not think walls protect you at all.

-Far more ricocheting going on. Fired a burst from the the Hinds YAK and saw them bouncing all over the place like rubber balls.. Niice! Suppression has a fresh aspect.

-Parachutes are stored in at least the Hinds gear. Very thoughtful for us future Lawn Darts. :p

-Huds are awesome now.

In all seriousness though, I think v1.05 is a great improvement, but I am taking some performance hits now that I wasn't before.

I keep crashing after a certain ammount of time when playing ACE 193 & patch 1.05 not sure if it has anything to do with Patch 1.05 or not but its quite annoying, because 1 second Im playing, the next Im at my desktop and it says Arma 2 is running in the back round, but its not (when I Ctrl+At+Delete, that is.)

Yeah I got the same problem. I have bought my copy of ArmA2 in the same shop (MediaMarkt) I always buy my games and oddly it seems to be detected as an illegal copy. The bullets of all guns just seem to go berserk and when I use a chopper (Viper,Hind or Apache) you can see the gunner aiming at the target and shooting at it as well but the bullets do not go strait at the target but are all over the place.And at the end of "Into the Storm" my monitor goes blurry and wobbles arround. It's very strange I also uninstalled and reinstalled the game but it did not help in any way. Can someone please help?

P.S. Without any addons or mods it's exactly the same and I don't know what to do. When nothing will work I'll ring my brother. He's on vacation in Poland and I will tell him to buy it there for 70PLN = 15€. I now live in Germany and I perhaps should change my location in the description. (Here it still costs 40 - 50€ = 200PLN, mad!)

Found a minor bug, the rockets on the Apache aren't firing out of the rocket pods, but rather the AGM missile pods.

It appears that the rocket are firing from where the AH-1Z's rocket pods should be.

Downloaded it, installed it. Died a lot in the beginning xD

The sidewinder isn't good for ground vehicles aparently lol :p

Then i had to go to Icarus and rockets blew me away O.o some how i managed to get away.

Again the same thing like when u die it's like "oh damn where is he omfg.." but that's a good thing not a negative point :D The sfere is kinda dark but cool, when you run through a forest it's pretty awesome to look around. The mini campaign > ArmA 2 campaign by a long shot lol don't know why this is pure my own opinion.

But uhm.. At the end with the boat. When u get a cutscene nothing actually happens.. you stand there with your eyes closed (good old ArmA ) and the spetznaz sergeant standing in front of you moving his head.. that's it i had to skip and it took me to the mission screen.

Anyhways playing on most settings at normal.. 28 fps.. quad core and a 9600gt but i can't expect more right?

Also: Do I need to start the campaign all over again? :( Cause I can't load.

Can anyone tell you are obscured from enemy AI due to the new grass layer ?

Not sure yet. All i know is that the grass is very laggy to me in 1.05. This might indicate more AI View Blocking. Dont take my word for it though, but i have to play with Kju's LowVisuals if i want grass on otherwise its unplayable and i have to turn it off.

So this might mean there is more view block wich I know takes more power from the pc.

I don't really know if this happened only after 1.05 but I can't map a button on my gamepad to "next target" (default key TAB). It'll be recognized and listed but doesn't do anything in game while TAB will select a radar target when flying a chopper.

Trapper there are two next target actions.

Make sure to use the lower.

Seems like the first entry is absolutely useless and should be patched away. I've set it unmapped and was still able to switch targets in AH64 and M1A1.

It's bad to frighten players with the thought that their preferred input device isn't supported.

I love the spray of shells on the Apache's cannon and I hope we see similar effects on the rest of the auto-cannons later on because at the moment they are like laser guns! The LAV puts round after round on the same spot at 3km! Very poor for attacking groups and long range areas.

The Eagle Wing Campaign is also very good, the scripting and acting seems to be much better than the main missions. The scenarios flow very nicely into one and other.

A few observations..

Still some AI driver issues. For instance, Grad driver swerves too hard. And AI in general don't do too good in rush traffic, especially involving turns.

Had to readjust graphical settings to adapt to how the game behaves now. Further drawing distances, but I had to pull back on some eyecandy. But it's a tradeoff that I'll accept any day.

Aerial vehicles still awkward in combat. Mainly they only do strafing runs, making them easy targets for any kind of weapon.

To put it diplomatically - 1.05 has been disappointing.

The changes in class definitions ( UH1-Z ) without prior warning. The changes in event handler behavior without prior warning. And a marked decrease in stability for servers.

What I mean by prior warning was the these changes were not apparent to beta-testers prior to the 1.05 release nor were any documents available for these changes.

1.05 DID do include a number of good things. Frame rates are much better.

So still a fan of ArmA 2, but wish that BI would do a better job in the areas mentioned - documentation would go a long way to help out. There are so many topics on the BI wiki that are poorly covered if at all. I know BI's resources are limited, but getting more info out there would help a lot of people and in the long run make ArmA2 a better system.

Is it my imagination or did they add some new "splatter" effects (blood and mud) when you're shot at or roll on the ground ? Noticed while playing EW part 2...

installed 1.05 But no Bonus Extras Campaign or AH64D expect its a Vista screw up again Any one know where I can get the CA_AH64D.pbo to put in manually. it Won't let me reinstall! The download was full size 277.011kb did not get any errors but none of the 2 extras installed!!

Further too

Uninstalled & reinstalled with 1.05 & all working + extras.

So like I said Vista screw up again first time!

I think that might have only been in EW. I didn't notice it in any other level but I could be wrong.

It is an EW exclusive thing. same with the color filters, they have to be scripted in

Argh more CTD's for me with 1.05. Both with ACE2 and without its happening now and then. When the next one comes (without ACE) i will ticket it. Noticed for example at one point when i added 200% 3D render i had a CTD. This never happened before. I could really punish my PC with ARMA2 and it never crashed. Ticket coming with dumps/RPT when it happens next time.

Overall however its working fine. Well the AI is a bit hard to get back into formation.
