A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment - Public Beta!

Recommended Posts

Out of curiousity, has anyone else noticed that the high pitch whine effects (such as blast shock) is just too high pitch?

Maybe my sound card/headphone combo is just that good but I have to literally take off my headphones whenever I get the effect because it hurt my ears to the point of me feeling sick. A little too much realism for my taste.

I even noticed the same tendancy for high pitch noise in the scout helo rotor noise. Its just barely tolerable in 1st person view due to the more muffled sound.

What do you think about the MH6/AH6, from outside the vehicle? :P

This will drive you insane.

I have an issue on my end. For some reason ACE won't work. I installed it the not lazy way, I even made a special shortcut for it. The only things that work are the ACEX vehicles and units, even then it's kind of dodgy, as I can't fire the Bradly's Bushmaster cannon (I don't have the option to, I have the M240 and the TOW). I don't have any ammo boxes, I'm unaffected by an M2 shooting by my head, and there are errors when I try to preview a mission with air vehicles (Something about a parachute.).

I really have no idea what to do, is there something special I need to do with it?

Nice mod, but that installer/updater is beyond horrible, one of the worst pieces of software I have ever seen.

Of course its horrible, it requires you to read a simple instruction

Some questoins:

Diferents loadouts using EASA (or whatever the cool module calls) = diferent plane reactions? Or I was too noob to crash a A-10 loaded only with Mk-82.

Any possibility to add "noise" to the NV Googles? I mean, you deactivated the HDR while using it and have a clear vision ( in HD! oposed the the RL), there is no cons in using it.

Ammo problems with CBQ = BIS problem, right?

I wouldn't call them simple though ... it does work if you follow the instructions to the letter without making a single mistake but ...

No man, it uses lame scripting language Ruby.

It opens at least 3 or 4 (didn't want to count) command line/console applications and asks you to use 1,2,3,4 menu.

Then, it tries to start a web server and use your browser as an interface.

After all of it, it doesn't work.

Great mod, but I won't use it until this abdomination is gone.

The same stuff can be done in very simple C++ or C# program with nice user friendly interface (just to answer incoming question, no I can't write one, I develop software for money and don't have time for community projects, I'll gladly donate to ACE2 team if there is a way and if I can download it and install it without using that "installer").

Thats a matter of opinion and perspective, read up on it if you're interested.

Plus the web-client is a prototype, and you can do without it in mere seconds: http://dev-heaven.net/wiki/ace-mod2/Lazy

I am sorry for being harsh, but that "installer" might kill or make your fanbase much smaller that ACE mod deserves.

Ditch that ruby, it's lame toy scripting language which invents nothing new but trouble and please think about interface first then about file transfer protocols. File transfer protocols are trivial (not to mention there is a lot of stuff which is already invented and avaliable) comparing to providing good end user interface.

It seems like I still haven't been able to install ACEX. I used the lazy method. @ACEX folder is empty, and missions that require ACEX are giving me missing ACEX files errors. Theres no ACE stuff in my virtualstore, I also tried deleting my ACEX folder and i checked my @ACE.7z file and it's not corrupt. I'm using windows 7 x64 Anyone know whats up here??

I've been using option no 2 to update the beta, cba, ace, and acex files and it's worked really well. Kudos on the updating software!

...But I run into issues whenever I try to load the web-interface. From what I've read of other users, using the web-interface allows the user to add more mods to the rsync list and I'd really like to do that!

Whenever I use option 1, it updates Ruby Gems, then says "Starting Web-client..." At that time a second command window is opened which reads "This porgram needs to remain running during Updater operations / Starting the web client... please be patient". Except in my case, my web browser never initializes or, if I am currently browsing, am never directed to a specific site.

So, as mentioned in the help guides, I've tried using both of the links provided for the "localhost" webpage. Whenever I click on those links, I'm given the classic explorer message of "This page cannot be displayed" yadda yadda.

I've gone so far as to disable all firewall securities and still the webpage will not show.

To get around the issue and keep my ace components updated, I used the beta .yml file as directed as simply select option 2 whenever I run the software. But I'd really like to be able to use the web-based client so more mods can be added to this already impressive updating tool!

Is there anyone who could offer some help?

Thanks for your time and once again, thanks to the ACE team and everyone involved for all of their hardwork!

English, Windows XP sp 3.

Just added my stats framework. Thought it might be a nice optional addition for servers that are listed in the server-site:

http://updater.dev-heaven.net/stats

Ofcourse like the rest of the site, very WIP.

@Spectator6:

Thanks for the report.

Please create at ticket and attach logs, thanks a lot: http://dev-heaven.net/projects/six-arma-updater/issues

@Njayjay:

Please delete @ACEX folder, and delete @ACEX.7z if you have it in the updater folder, then try again.

I'm sorry but like I said it's a matter of opinion and perspective.

That's all i'm going to say on the subject.

I hope its already mentioned at the issue tracker, since ace2 its not possible to track enemys through their gun weapon sounds.

I can hear surround sound with all vehicles but not if tangos uses their portable arms.

Its really annoying if u cannot hear from which direction you get shot.

I would be grateful, if anybody can give us a hind, if there is already a solution.

Wow, thanks for fast reply Sickboy! Were you talking to me when you said create a ticket? If so, I followed the link but can't seem to find where/how to upload the issue... Let me know what I need to do and I'll get it posted up!

If it's of any use, I use Comodo Internet Security (for firewall) and do NOT have the Windows fw enabled.

Thanks!
