I'm seeing a few FPS improvement in Win7x64 compared to WinXP x32.

Also, alt-tabbing from desktop is massively quicker in Win 7:cool:

I get the same performance under Windows 7 and XP, both faster than Vista.

Search is good, plenty of exising threads detailing this. Many under the trouble shooting section.

Runs great for me on windows 7 64bit

I can second this. With Vista 64 I had alot of CTD's and stuttering during gameplay. With Windows 7 64 which i've been running the last 6 days, gameplay has much improved.

Runs smoother, and not a single crash yet encountered. :)

Same here, runs fine. Game runs a bit better then in vista it seems, but that could also be because of BIS patches and newer nvidia drivers.

Good Info I am Glad you did not use the search as it would have been lost and hidden

whereas I feel this is VERY important to the current time and General Info Of this Game.

For sure going from Vista64 to W764 its much better but I seem to have way more CTD than Vista64 due to that white bitmap glitch...then CTD "ArmA2.exe stopped blah blah". It only seems to happen when I fly around.

Two main probs, either FPS slow down (flush doesn't help/stopping and waiting works) or white bitmap+crazy polys(flush works).

I don't remember having the FPS slow down in Vista. I did have the white bitmap prob. in Vista but it was rare. Actually CTD's were rare.

Still the FPS when walking around are much much better in W7. Keep in mind I just installed W7 and ArmA2 and only did some playing around w/ the graphic settings in ArmA2 so I think with the beta patch(gonna try now) and some more tweaking it's gonna be awesome!

It does not run for me on Win 7 64. There are no textures at all in the game, everything is flat, and the game chugs at 5-10fps. I tried the last two Nvidia driver versions for Win7 64 with the same result. It ran great in Vista 64.

What card do you have? I have a GTX285.

The Beta (Build_59323) fixed the CTD and slow FPS. I can still see a white flicker here and there but it's not bad at all. I think the next ArmA2 patch is going to be real good.

i just wanted to add here that, for me using w7, i7 and gtx280, 3gig triple channel mem.. i have had to download Dx9 redist (march) to get a solution to my problems with the hardware combo i use.. those being flashing textures & strange extruded polygon anomolies.

For anybody having problems with W7x64, there are some memory leak bugs with the pre-installed software on pre-built systems. The alienware command center software on my laptop was taking 1.5 gb of ram and running my processors into the ground, so I had to uninstall it completely. Anybody having problems with W7x64 may have success looking into their task manager to see if anything's going out of control.

After upgrading to W7 from vista, I've gone from an average of 25-30 fps at all times to 50-60 fps at all times, and I've turned up the graphical detail without losing any FPS (Full post processing!).

Hope this may help some people.

After a few nights of testing/playing I'm satisfied with Win7 64. My 8800gtx died and I changed OS when I installed a HD5870.

Quite honestly, XP/32 + 8800GTS was giving me pretty much the same fps and ArmAIIMark scores as W7/64 + HD5870 with similar settings.

But it's no worse so I'm not unhappy (just out several hundred bucks).

the only reason i prefer xp over 7 is because xp uses less ram than 7. A freshly installed xp uses about 350 MB or ram while a freshly installed 7 uses around 900 MB or RAM.

but what would i do with my other 5.65GB of ram then? I never realy worry about RAM usage.Thats why i buy it. Win7 is so much more than XP... but if you like it great. XP was/is a good OS. But DX10/DX11 i can use right now.
