chammy 7 Posted April 13, 2010 Hey guys, I'm back, once again, it seems every time I get ready to concentrate on CSM something comes up, if it's not work, psycho ex girlfriends or legal bull**** it's an earthquake.....I guess that's why they call it life:rolleyes: Anyways, so far I have been testing out the versions, I see no problem ...yet, I am still going through everything. I will report back...
Protegimus 0 Posted April 13, 2010 This is a test release with both new and remixed weapon sounds for the following: M16, M4, AK74, RPK74 There are also some additional bullet sounds. The M16 and M4 sounds are highly percussive, so closer to the firers perception, but not as well blended to the overall soundscape as Chammy produces. Chammy describes sounds with this character as banging a tin with a hammer... If you prefer the character of the original weapon sounds, backup your existing @CSM2\Addons directory before updating, or skip this update pending feedback. Thanks for your contribution stephsen - I've no doubt it took a lot of effort to sample, mix and then produce a video of your work. Your results are very similar to those I've experienced - the ArmA II audio engine appears to limit dynamics making samples that are very authentic outside the game lose a lot, not in format conversion but when reproduced. Perfect example is the AK74 sounds in this release, I had a good quality closely mic'd capture with two shots, the second of which is different enough to sound terrible when in game, even though they are nigh on perfect replayed outside in .wav or .wss format. CSM2 version: 1.04d update is available via the Yoma Addon Sync repository, the Auto config URL is: http://www.computerrepair.uk.net/updater/ArmA2-repo.7z Protegimus Halochief89: what configuration are you using as I've no problem with 1.04c and the AH64D cannon. Protegimus 0 Posted April 14, 2010 As we are discussing it, I fully appreciate Six Updater for what it is and its merits and thank OrdeaL for getting CSM2 supported. However, Yoma gives me the ability to make and post frequent updates under my own control, while still being a far more bandwidth efficient method than traditional http download. I understand you guys have your own preferences, but I've no appetite for large bandwidth bills so I'm sticking with the best method available at the moment. In any case, in this day of virtual machines and virtualised applications, why limit yourself to just one downloader - use them all. Protegimus

grub 10 Posted April 15, 2010 Hey guys, I use CSM2 1.04 at the mo, basically I'm waiting till, I guess it'll be 1.05. I too find it hard to gauge distance from sound but I can see this is being fixed. Apart from that and some of the individual rifle sounds (I'm sure matching sounds to the real thing is no easy feat) this mod is brilliant. I'd just like to say how impressed I am with CSM2. I have used every sound mod available in ARMA 2 and i have to say this ones my favourite, I recommended it to anyone looking for a sound mod. Its great when your on your way to an objective and a battle breaks out a couple of kilometres away. The distant sounds in CSM2 rock and really tie the mission together. @ Chammy. Hope the quakes have eased and you and your fam are well. Keep up the good work guys.

Reezo 45 Posted April 15, 2010 The reverb tails in the M16A4 and M67 hand grenade cut off abruptly, as if the WAV sample was cut drastically. I will add more feedback as soon as I find an ammo crate in this mission lol :)
