But, can you please add alternating Muzzle-flashes in further patches? It looks very ugly when he fires with the SAW in this Vid.... Even OFP had variating/alternating muzzle-flashes....

+1 on that.

It's very ugly (and unrealistic) with a muzzle flash which is just a static image.

game was looking great in so many videos until i saw them open fire and the flash of identical lowres muzzle flashes that look extremely cheap... really feels like it immediately crashes the reaslistic feel of the environmeny

Playing on the higher difficulties in SP is very frustrating because both your allies spot enemies through hills and your enemies spot you.

I was playing with the ambient combat module and spent half the time trying to find all the enemies my squad was reporting on :confused: I can understand hearing a BMP and working out the general direction it's in, but how can they find infantry over a hill half a mile away??

@ dvlok : You pointed maybe one of the most frustrating thing in the game so far...

For me the 4 biggest gamebreaking "features/bugs" :

1) Totally useless and unrealistic AI reporting : "Target that officer (bloody good eyes!) very far (how is that?) left ( from who?) in that house hidden in the forest behind that hill... (only slightly exagerrated, but WTF???)..."

2) AI going through many walls and fences...

3) Driving AI... (Flying seems OK for me...)

Note : Great game nonetheless...

+1.

The AI radio chatter also has bugs of its own, for example infinitely repeating orders and reports. ("Go, I'll cover!", "Go, I'll cover!", "Covering!", "Go, I'll cover!"... ad nauseam)

AI going through walls, fences and even each other has been around since ArmA1 :(. In fact, it almost seems to be some kind of failsafe for when the AI are in a situation where they might get stuck. A good example are the horizontal pipes near Chernogorsk. If you crawl underneath them and the AI wants to follow you, they will sometimes walk around if there is a gap nearby, but often they just walk straight through.

The pilot AI seems somewhat better than the driving AI. I've seen them do a couple of crazy dives but they always managed to pull up in time. Firing at ground targets is also much improved over ArmA1.

If that's a "safety" feature, just don't do it while I'm watching !!!! I don't want to know about it...

Muzzle flashes are really something easy to fix, if BIS won't fix then there would be community-made fixes.

As it is mainly a matter of .paa/.p3d

Easiest fix for muzzle flashes: make them rotate. Most weapons have a muzzle flash consisting of six evenly spaced radial outbursts. All you have to do is make the muzzle flash rotate 60° with each shot and they will be in a different position each time. It's not perfect, but it would add some dynamic and be much nicer to look at. :)

Good to know,

Don't want to sound like I'm kind of pushing my luck far, but it would be great if you increase the AI DISPERSION values for most of weapons in order to make combat more intense and immersive.

I have already done that for a personnal use but it would be great to see this implemented by default.

Yes, this is something that IMO was too high in Arma 1 too, and it contributed to the myth about the "all seeing AI" amongst casual players.

Increase the AI dispersion in at least the lower difficulty levels.

Ohara: that sounds great. So the 505 version will come boxed with the 1.01 patch? I was hoping for a 1.02 box but I guess theres not enough time for it :)

i doubt it will be boxed 1.01 i think by the time the game was released in germany, most international discs would have been pressed already.

i maybe wrong though but who cares. as long as there is a patch there is no reason to play the out of box version, right ?

For me it does not matter, but the less broken the game is out of the box, the more successful it will be.

Some may not have Internet or are not technical competent enough to patch or even know about the patch.

So it would be interesting if the developers could answer what version the 505 will ship with.
