- Crew speaks english again. Please introduce a new voiceset for at least one side. I know, I´ve already had a conversation about this with Ondreij when Arma was released, but still....this is part of the atmosphere for a game. It adds so much to the atmosphere if you sneak up to a enemy position and don´t understand a word of what they are saying.

I don't speak Czech or Russian so when I am playing as the CDF or the Russians how am I supposed to know whats going on?

I would love to know czech and russian but the truth is I don't have time to learn it.

Great video. It would be nice for them to have accents at least.

Edit: Video is on Youtube here

so when all my men are yelling out unit positions in the middle of a battle I am going to have to be looking at subtitles trying to read and shoot?

I think when you are on CDF's side, you hear them talk in english, and when you play as other faction, you hear them talk their own language....

That would work.

Seems like tanks engines still start when moving the turret(maybe). Listen when that tank fires two shots in one scene, listen to it as the turret starts moving before the first shot.

This sound engine is blowing me away, the mix of noises in vehicles is just great, looks like we can say bye-bye to vacum cleaner powered T72s. Can I hear the faint sound of those Su25s in the distance. Wicked tounge2.gif

If I was in CodeM I'd be having sleepless nights.

Edit: For languages, It must just be exactly the same as Ofp1, If they are talking to you and you need to understand quickly like fighting in same sqaud e.g red hammer campaign, its an accent. If a cutscene its other language with sub-titles e.g CWC when at that checkpoint with the Vodka incident. If in-game but on other side, its other language with no sub-titles.

hehe the church music brought me some nice memories  biggrin_o.gif

Thank you for that!

The game already have some nice colors.

Though some clutters might become boring with time. I wonder if there is time to improve them.

ps- @Cameraman: I personally hate shaking cameras while watching a video. Don't shack it too much in future videos wink_o.gif

Anyway, in general it looks nice and promising smile_o.gif

Raphier, your idea is nice, but it have some flues...

Well, CDF native language is chernarusian (czech) (but they have trained with NATO, so maybe they can understand english), so the only faction there would be english is the USMC. And if a player who play CDF (etc.) it would be hard to understand to an order in a language wich he doesnt understand.

It would be nice to implent diferent languages audio, but many player will have a hard time to understand.

But if there would be a option in the settings to change the audio it would be nice. wink_o.gif Options Like: All speaks english; All speaks theyre languages.

Sorry my english is bad.

Well there definatley will be differant languages, we've all heard about the 'losing your translator' thing causing problems with local populace so there's great potential there.

Don't plenty of other games (especialy ww2 one's) have actual language for their side? I mean, I remember learning to just recognize words inorder to play, it's not that hard, it's an experience.

Quote[/b] ]so when all my men are yelling out unit positions in the middle of a battle I am going to have to be looking at subtitles trying to read and shoot?

That´s really no problem as the displayed text could still be in english and if BIS makes it a selectable option I see no difficulty at all.

I liked that with FDF mod. The more you played it the more you understood without reading the subs.

In Crysis they had the feature on higher difficulty levels aswell and to be honest if we take Arma 2 as a longterm motivating game (as it hopefully will be) this is definately something I´d like to have in as it really adds alot to atmosphere and keeps you from shooting friendlies in the woods by accident tounge2.gif

Definately...that´s why I keep bringing it up until I die smile_o.gif

From my own experience I can tell you that NATO units only do communications in english among other NATO units but within the national unit combat is organized within the native language. Soldiers don´t attend to extensive language lessons.

The player can still read the order in english and he also get´s a visual landmark ingame in english as it always has been, the different audioset is just some realism candy I´d definately want to have if there is a chance to get it.

It bites me if I observe a russian base and the patrol leaders shout out there commands in english. That´s just plain damn stupid. whistle.gif

Maybe if the CDF is on your side then they can speak in czech but the subtitles can be in English (as if you have a little translator gadget thingy on you) personally i think it would improve gameplay to actually hear a foreign language in a foreign place.

Even if you are fighting in teh CDF it would be nice to be able to have the soldiers speaking their coloqueal language. There could just be a way to turn it on and off. I think it would also be cool if you can sort of ajust the game to suit yourself eg. controls, Languages of allied and enemy soldiers and graphics options like the skybox which was discussed earlier in this topic.

Awsome video, i so wanner play sneaky sneaky and hide in the bushes, and waiting for my pray, with a tank biggrin_o.gif

But am i the only one who was a bid sad to se the grass' reaction near the end of the trailer where the last tank drives by? To me it was a bit dissapointing that the grass dident stay down after it had been drown over.

Sorry for my bad spelling confused_o.gif

lol the rumour about the ofp2 editor tweaking the game so he pwns everyone else was funny, but now back to ARMA2 press-release discussion...

I'm happy for BIS that ARMA2 is looking like the winner so far out of both mil-sims although they are not both perfect, ARMA2's press-release have added a whole different view of realism in the competition. In the new OFP2 video i saw soldiers bunny hopping around and thought it was a bit like teh SOCOM game for PS3.

I think the graphics of the vehicles and trees(ARMA2) are amazing and really life-like but the soldiers/civs are still a bit rigid and dull and could do with a bit more personalisation. I also loved the feature in QG (not sure if it was ARMA or QG) where you could choose your character's face, if you can add some small personal touches to your character in ARMA2 such as name-tags and weapons it would be killer (as mr g-c. says)
