Recommended Posts

Sooo Cham anychance you could add tracers to the mod as standard? I dont fancy running an entirely different mod just to get them and to be honest these thing your sounds = win.

I'm strictly for soundmod only - no additional effects. Everybody plays with tracers he likes. Whats the point of "forcing" someone to play soundmods with tracers? Imho, that’s quite another cup of tea.

Would like to see CSM 2 Final first and then maybe some additional features "nice to have and optional". wink_o.gif

I never had so much fun riding the motorcycles and the 5t Truck. Those sounds are really top notch smile_o.gif

All bugs are fixed now... Hopefully different versions can play now. Just need some feedback on volume levels on anything you think needs to be adjusted.

Chammy is currently working on cleaning up and perfecting some sounds while I have been cleaning up the config...

Sorry about the bugs it may have been released a bit to early maybe like 15min to early lol... I was out of town and I guess chammy got tired of waiting on me...

Am i right in thinking if i uncomment this line-

//soundEscape[] = {"\CSM_Sounds\Misc\none.wss", db-10, 1;

Wold it stop the music playing? Also what would i have to do to get the radio beep back? Brilliant mod by the way! (apart from music and lack of radio beep lol

Great to hear!

Sound volumes should be close to original ones but imho its difficult to get all real sounds in high quality and make them work nice+realistic in games/ArmA. Maybe its possible to make optimized sound variants for hi-fi system and headset?

Please no!

I think sound-mod should be keeped as a sound mod.

And if adding tracers mean incompatibility issues with 6th Sense Pack 1, well, then, goodbye CSM.

As much as I do love CSM, I, for one, would be forced to not to use it since it isn't purely a "sound mod" anymore.

@Chammy

Hmm, you mentioned supporting some different mods/making CSM2 compatible with some different mods right?

What about Q11_Jams?

Awesome, I guess I'll dust off Arma to try this. smile_o.gif

Maybe it's an idea to release 2 different versions regarding sound volume? One like this and one with upped volume?

Also, is this meant to be played with Hardware acceleration and EAX on?

Thx for the release Chammy, it might have taken forever but it looks like you delivered. smile_o.gif

What version do you have of ArmA? The fix will either be out today or tomorrow, we just need to test a few things with it and several testers with other versions of ArmA to make sure its working properly.

We will up teh volume, I will do that also in the wave file itself but I usually have to be care full, the higher the volume, the less percussive and dynamic it will be, any louder and you will get a squashed effect sound. I'd like to raise the volume in certain areas also but I am just using Goldwave, the trial version hahahahah, gosh I'm cheap, well, I do use NTrack and SoundFOrge also. I wish I had the pro stuff, if I could dish out 1,000 bucks. Thats why you will see professionally made sound effects that cost over 100 dollars for a CD and some of the sound effects are manipulated and exaggerated too much. And yes it can be played with EAX.

Yes, what I mean by compatible is, if the modders are using my sound mod I will have sounds for other weapons and events that they can include the name of the sound into their mods if they do not have a custom weapon/veh sound of their own. Tis very hard to find custom sounds or make them so people will use sounds from other games. Or, if you have an existing addon that uses stock sound you can go into the config and re-assign the sound name to what I have listed in CSM so the sounds do not clash or miss match. Its up to the users liking also.

Hey Chammy. Great job on the sound mod, the only part I'm not too keen on is the music replacements (hate death metal) but other than that it's excellent.

I'm also getting this bug with the M16A4 series, but in case you don't know what the issue is exactly yet - though I'm sure you do, just wanted to make sure, I made a video showing the error:

(Sorry for the bad quality, but hopefully you can see what's happening)

Great job once more on this. Looking forward to whatever updates you have in store for us. smile_o.gif

once again, very nice work Chammy...its really alot of fun getting to play missions with your sound work and the overall scope of improvements you've made over your first version just goes to show how busy you've been with this! Thanks SO much for getting this out to us, hats off!

PS - I agree that we shouldnt be forced to use the included music replacements for certain missions if we dont want to. Instead of including them as "replacements" its probably a better idea to include them as "extras" in some sort of radio interface instead.

Hmm, well, guess the "music thing" could be in separate addon. Don't get me wrong, I just absolutely love the way it is now, but I was just thinking that there might be someone who doesn't like it for some reason.

Well yeah, i get what you guys mean about the music. I stuck the music in cause imho it fits, death metal or hardcore = death + war is hardcore, not only that, the titles and what the music is about, Love Lost in a Hail of Gunfire, Progencies of the Great Apocolypse, Ramses Bringer of War, Eye For An Eye, Frontlines, Kill to Believe, War Pigs and Hand of DOom. The song, Wicker from CLutch is talking about war or the Civil War. i might leave at least probably the Black Sabbath songs in there and Breaking Benjamin for one of the death scenes and leave the other death scene songs, they are pink Floyd and Alice in Chains and fit well with the death scenes. I just figured some of the music in ArmA was just a little too soft for a war game.

I gave it a go and I have to say compared to the previous version it improved a bit. I gave it a good run the other night testing each thing separately, and then in a full war with a good friend of mine and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised with some things and a bit disappointed with others.

The volumes, as some here have said, are just too low. I had a friend to my right manning the .50 and because I was scoped I thought he was way behind me fleeing by the low sound and when I looked, he was close enough that my ears should be ringing. Not to mention my headset volume was maxed out as was all the volume settings in XP and ArmA.

Some of the gun noises, I don't know...I've seen some of the promo videos using your sounds prior to this release from months back and they all sounded spot on great. I really don't know what happened to cause a change with a lot of the gun sounds. I was hoping to hear a lot of those sounds instead of the ones now. I realize this is only a v2 of the beta, so I hope that there would be a chance of hear them again this time as they were pretty damn good. Wasn't IMWM using your sounds for their big promo? I am pretty sure they were, and in that case those really sounded good. Sounded like an actual firefight.

Sonic cracks were better this time around, but for some reason the close ones still sounded like they should be for very far away.

The vehicles I was pleased with. I really liked the M113 sounds.

The menu button clicks were neat, but the one for volume has to go. Was funny the first 2 seconds, then got a bit annoying every time I wanted to adjust volumes. I wanted to haul off and smack the sh*t out of the closest person possible after awhile adjusting the volumes.

I know my opinions will probably not be popular, but I'd rather be honest and fair than just another guy with his nose up your ass blowing smoke. You did good compared to v1, but like I said I think it could have been a lot better especially remembering hearing some of the previous sounds from the promo videos of projects that you allowed them to use your sounds in.  Keep up the hard work. thumbs-up.gif

Ok, I checked the volumes and they are identical to vanilla. It may be a proximity volume number that's making the sound too quiet from several feet. I will ask Binkster about this.
