wow_o.gif  ........ its your baby, but in all honesty for the map type you have brought to the community (specifically Urban with lots of buildings) I would have thought this would have been part of the guts of it priority wise. I know that paths don't work well becuase I use some scripts for entering buildings and also Urban Patrol Script that can use upper levels only of buildings. Ive seen AI walk to entrance and do nothing / enter and get to hallways and stop (stuck) and stay stood, or simply don't ever enter.

The funniest ive seen is AI find me, one enter the staircase, lay a satchel charge and arm it (but never goes off) and walk out again, obviously a script mod combo momnet but was funny to see.

I would love to see this area looked into, its such a shit hot map that its borderline illegal to ignore this area   tounge2.gif

I notice you have offers for help, I wish I could mate to be honest but I know nothing of map creation, hope you do get it updated with some of whats been referred too  thumbs-up.gif

I can understand the lazy part, been there and still am wink_o.gif .

But like mrcash2009 says, this map screams URBAN and no decent path finding brings less fun....we already have enough frustration of BIS material (joking wink_o.gif ). It is great to see you started as mapmaker and learnt to model buildings aswell in this sort periode. Not much people can walk in your shoes.

I'd have to agree with some of the previous posters about the pathfinding and building entering problems.

This map is an URBAN map so to ignore this is pretty naive thinking.

Would love to see these issues looked into and at least minimized.

im not sure but maybe the buildings as models do not have Paths, do they Opteryx?

I remembered that these was to be implemented in the houses, but i believe it was never implemented.. correct me if im wrong.

I'd settle for just position spots in buildings. There's a lot of script commands that let you list buildings and get the particular spots in relation to the building.

I have a script I like to use that picks a building and drops enemies on those spots randomly. They just stand still on the spots and don't move (I disable their walking routine). They shoot at us as we walk by. It's great...!

If you could add these to the buildings you've made I'd be very happy. Even place some on roofs (rooves?) that you can't get to would be sweet!

I'm still getting kicked back into the lobby whenever I try to join an avgani server.... any ideas?

I just tried redownloading and putting it into its own mod folder and no luck, and I have bikeys in the same folder.

Maybe it is just because the Mission you are trying to join requires some more addons than just Avgani Iraq.

The CO@ 10 Iraq Street Patrol v09b - avgani - Mission for example requires the FFAA - Insurgents aswell.

Also take a look at your local hosting options, if you try to host a LAN - game and the OPX - Avgani - Map doesn't show up it is most likely that your modfolder containing the avgani - addon is not set up correctly.

I can create missions and I think I have those insurgents in my mod folder.... also I think that would just tell me I'm missing required addons.

Hi, keep in mind that the FFAA insurgents aren't signed, so they're

not MP friendly; as soon as i seen that was a unsigned addon... i

deleted 'em from my HD, that may be an issue; and make sure that

the path to the Mod Folder where Avgani is, looks more or less as

this: "C:\ArmA\@Islands\Addons". And that it contains all the files

that come inside the .rar or .7z file that you downloaded. It should

work; but there may be other issues. Let's C ya

Hey Opterix,

isnt it possible to bring up the map without the walls around the fields, because the AI is not moving straigth anymore because they try to run around and around and around ...

Isnt it maybe possible to throw out the Avgani map just like 1.1 and with the bugfixes?

Sure, but you are posting a "mirror" to a file which you can't access without registering.... which is very odd of course.... People want to have access to a "file-mirror" directly, thats the purpose of a "file-mirror".

I don't think thats a good method to get traffic/people/whatever....

I think the idea is that to view these forums (and many others) you don't need to register. You only need to register if you plan on posting, so what you're posting isn't really a "mirror" in the traditional sense. If those forums would become public, then I don't think it would be a problem. As it is, they're set to only display for registered users, so it's a "private" forum. People are hesitant to hand out their email addresses and such, so maybe make it easier for those people?

Yes a mirror is more often than not for public access, how many game demos have you downloaded with mirrors and they all need a login?

If its public release any mirror should be accessed, if its private, Beta or just for a clan then yes by all means login only and in that sense you wouldn't real mirror it as much as your controlling who downloads.

The logic is your mirroring the file to distribute evenly on the basis that you will get many downloads (public) and saves on server bandwidth and also distributes the knowledge of its existence (public). If its login only compared to current mirrors that don't need it then your mirror isn't actually a great help as less will bother it kind of works against itself, plus no one knows before registering that the download speed will be or wont be better than a public mirror anyway.

Sorry for taking so long AverageJoe. I was just making a mission on Avgani and remembered I forgot to answer you. I noticed that as well. Shoot the pond an boooom the water seems to flip 90 degrees upward and turns in to a flat blue panel. While the pond is now dry.

Yup, that's main reason I don't use his mirrors. I don't like to register for much unless it's utterly necessary, but besides this I can just wait for armaholic.com, .info, etc. for quick dl's. Or just use the "slower" mirror the author posts. But to be honest rarely are any of the public DL mirrors used for content in this forum running under 300kb.

If others don't mind registering just to DL something that is available elsewhere, more power to em'. It just isn't my cup of tea. It's nice to know there are other options available though.

Looks like the water is a destructible object, heheh! biggrin_o.gif
