topas 1 Posted February 7, 2008 It sure does look like an ambitious project. Judging form the pics and videos it's gonna be big. As far as I know the real life El Hierro is someting around 300 square kilometers - what scale are you going to choose? 1:1? Anyway; Fingers crossed - looks very promissing even as an early WIP
opteryx 1562 Posted February 7, 2008 Yes I forgot to mention that, it's 1:1 scale.
topas 1 Posted February 7, 2008 In fact you did by writing 40x40.. my bad (sitting late hours does not help the neurons )

wipman 1 Posted February 7, 2008 Hi, the Canarias are placed in Afrika and the "tipical spanish" house wouldn't fit right in that part of Afrika; the fellas that moved to work in the Canarias islands told me that they've they're own kind of "tipical" house, and seems that the most common small 2 floors house is more close to a Jerez's house, Malaga... Granada... and those southern places; but i could be wrong... im from the North of spain and i never was down there and hopefully i'll never be. That island looks good, seems interesting. Let's C ya
icebreakr 3157 Posted February 7, 2008 I still prefer small islands with couple of settlements... big areas just can't have all the details... better to have a realistic small isle than a half empty huge one. my 2c.
sickboy 13 Posted February 7, 2008 Looks very interesting. Can not wait for beta's let alone the final Thanks Opt! With ArmA's terrain and object streaming I believe it should still be possible to have a huge island with lots o stuff.Suma wrote on the blog that Sahrani doesn't make perfect use of the features and as such isn't that optimized atm. I believe this means that other Islands in fact can make use of the technology more properly

.kju 3244 Posted February 7, 2008 Why do you not release the island as it is as a preview package? This might get people more interested in helping you as well.
Benoist 0 Posted February 7, 2008 Well, my parents went to Spain (first the Northe, then France and other contries and then the travel in the South) and they said (yes i show them the pics) that it looks like the South of Spain. That's what they told me, i never been there.

HotShot 0 Posted February 7, 2008 The Lowlands Warrior mod was making a tropical island, Bonaire, which may have objects you could use? No idea if they still have the files. Berghoff was also making vegetation for it. Looks like it will be a good island.
granQ 293 Posted February 7, 2008 great another island with the same "theme" i want to recreate.. i guess thats what many wants to see now. Wished i could help but i am so busy right now.. but one day i will make islands like yours, maybe could include yours, in my mod for drug lords missions.. looks perfect. icebreakr 3157 Posted February 7, 2008 GranQ: what a coincidence, today at 2000Z our team is hunting down druglord Victor Esteban and shutting down his evil operations i took another look of Canary island and it seems it wouldn't be too much difficult to recreate, since there are many slopes that don't have any objects except random trees/bushes. Good luck Opteryx!
Strother 0 Posted February 7, 2008 I think people should make more islands based on real world locations mainly because I'm a realism guy, and having real terrain and real town layouts is so much better than someone making an island that has mixed climits and random terrain.
