ChevyVanDude 1 Posted July 18, 2006 Well I like the Chevrolet Chevy Van's ('80s). http://www.4x4plus.com/Chevy_Van_1.jpg Why? Well, me, as an European, don't have those kind of boxy vehicles, and therefore it is in a way special. You can rebuild or stuff alot in it. "Im the dude in the Chevy Van". I know its well, pretty lauging actually, but who gives a damn?

Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted July 18, 2006 I figured out my nickname after I dissed my old one, "Julemanden". Julemanden means Santa-clause in Danish, but I needed something more "cool" So I found a spanish dictionary and looked up ghost/spirit, and there it was - Espectro
NeMeSiS 11 Posted July 18, 2006 I... er... Ive no idea... Well, this is a forum, about ofp, so.. errrr NeMeSiS was already taken which i normally used back then, and in newer games i usually use Fenrir/Fenr1r or Ragnar EDIT: Or maybe i registred with Nemesis first, then forgot my password, and then had to post here again... -ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Mine was a clan nick from my former CS clan, "Zee Germans". I should have opted for Vulture but Buzzard is also cool I guess... an homage to an animal that always tries to never leave anything useful behind... And since one can also pick up weapons and stuff from dead bodies in OFP, I saw no reason to abandon the name... Currently though my main nick is TX3RN0BILL - a cooler way to write "Chernobyl". Why did I pick that name? Because I'm very irradiating...
Pathy 0 Posted July 18, 2006 I got mine back when i was a kid and i thought it was "l33t" to call myself something warry and walting like "Pathfinder". That got shortened to Path, then one day talking to Acecombat on the old NOMAD mod forums i typod and called him Acey, and he responded with Pathy. Which stuck. There was also a Pathfinder account already on these forums, hence i signed up as Pathy. I have been trying to get rid of the bloody nickname for the past year and abit though, ever since i realised how stupid it is to be calling myself a Pathfinder (which was a long time ago i realised that), and also since i started doing alot of online coop gaming, and to have guys who you know quite tell calling you "pathy" instead of "chris" on TS is strange. So i just use my name nowerdays, and mostly go under either ChrisUKF or ChrisVCB on other forums. And if anyone adds me to thier MSN (it happens occasionally) and calls me Pathy, i correct them Unfortunately dupe accounts on here would lead to a banning, so i guess i'm stuck with the crappy name. Unless a mod would be kind enough to change me to ChrisUKF?
Messiah 2 Posted July 18, 2006 ermmm... well, im clearly the savior of the earth, hence the name... or I just wanted to sound a bit scary and interesting when i started playing Red Alert online (oh so long ago) and its stuck since then.

sanctuary 19 Posted July 18, 2006 Usually, i try to have a different nickname for each game i play. But considering i was totally out of inspiration when i wanted to register on the BIS forum, i just selected the name of the last spell i created 10 minutes before for my Daggerfall character , and here was Sanctuary. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted July 18, 2006 I dont know why but there are only very few characters out there that have something magical in common that I realy realy admire. Usually I get this feeling when reading their autobiographies. It happened when reading Angelas Ashes (which I guess all of you know), it happened when reading books such as the biography of Charly Chaplin or the one of Albert Schweitzer. There are a lot of other great biographies but I dont want to bore you here! Albert Schweitzer Frank Mc Court Charly Chaplin I wrote forty lines trying to say what these people might have in common that I like but I failed. Maybe it was their way of standing above things during the difficult times they live in, being resistant to self-pity, to ideologies, generalisations and glorifications. They were never part of the herd, nor did they constantly try to swim agains the stream, they always followed their own direction. They persistently emphasized the necessity to think, rather than acting on basis of passing impulses or by following the most widespread opinions. My prodigious sin was, and still is, being a non-conformist. Although I am not a Communist I refused to fall in line by hating them." Charly Chaplin (having to explain his views to the he House of Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in 1947) To sum it all up. Out of the people above Albert Schweitzer was probably the most sophisticated person with broadest wisdom and the greatest respect for life. In case you havent heard of him you should read the one or the other article, cause he was no stupid ideologist but a person with a just very straight forward and sensitive observation. And he was always years ahead of his time.
Marss911 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Back in 1996 I started gaming under the nickname Marss (Since my real name is Marcel), which was quite obvious and common, so I sit down for a while thinking of what I could add to it. I came up with the Dutch emergency call number which was 112, played a while with the nickname Marss112 but it just didnt sound right. As I choose a emergency phonenumber I thought why not change it from the dutch number to the american 911, which sounded allot better and people recognized it. So after that I started to play games under the Nick Marss911 But after 2001 with the twin towers being on 11th of september which was 9-11 people look at my nick completely different and start to think I 'liked' what happend back then. Anyway now you guys know I dont picked my nickname because of that, but some other reason Marcel.
jakerod 254 Posted July 18, 2006 My brother's name is Jared. His friends shortened his name to Jrod and then made me Jakerod or Little Jrod. So I chose that nickname since it seems to be one of very few nicknames I have had that has stuck for a while. I used to use Rommel after General Erwin Rommel as my game name as well because I thought he was a great General. I also used NITN (Ninja in the Night) for a while which I got off of one of the ofp missions.

xawery 0 Posted July 18, 2006 'Xawery' is a tribute to my grandfather. His name was actually 'Ksawery'; 'Xawery' is the archaic spelling which I found visually more appealing. Xawery is the Polish form of Xavier, which derives from the Basque place Etxabier, meaning "the new house". Other sources claim that the name means "the bright one" in Arabic. I have been using this name consistently since 1998 IIRC, both in games and on forums. It wasn't until I started using TS that I realised how impractical this nickname really is - noone (except Germans and Poles) manages to pronounce it correctly... This has led to some awkward momens, such as me getting renamed to Celery on the Zeus server Incidentally, should any of you be interested in the etymology of your name, I strongly recommend www.behindthename.com. I've spent countless hours there, completely awestruck by the rich history of our everyday names.
Serclaes 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Johann Tserclaes Graf von Tilly Means : Johann Tserclaes Lord(or earl.. i dont know the difference) of Tilly. Although the spelling is sometimes different and t'Serclaes comes out. But i didnt want to adopt somebody elses name to repeat history or to have an idol. I wanted to make my own name but keep some parts from it.

sniperuk02 0 Posted July 18, 2006 My dads nickname in the police was "Sniper" as he was a marksman so I used that and added the Uk and then I saw someone with sniperuk01 so I decided to stick 02 at the end of it. And I'm not sure where my CS nick name "Tin Tin" comes from but I use "Tinners" for most things now.
