mrn 0 Posted March 25, 2008 @Duca Quote[/b] ]As for my way of playing, well I was aware of the bonuses but it was great to kill 'em all no matter what I agree completely, it's the way I tend to play it. Fire and brimstone all the way! @Orlok Quote[/b] ]Actually I was suprised that the campaign wasnt encrypted, otherwise i'd have opened her up ages ago I wasn't aware missions could be encrypted, even if I had I wouldn't have done it. My personal feeling is OFP/Arma scripting should be open source as long as credit is given, I wouldn't have had a clue where to start learning how to script without ripping apart other peoples stuff to work out how they did it. If every mission was encrypted then I'm sure there would be a lot less missions released. I would be on very dodgy ground if I said anything else being as this is based on an old OFP mission! Quote[/b] ]oh, and it's great to see that someone works as scruffily as i do. But its the end result thats important. Yep, sometimes I do wish I was more organised with stuff, I can spend 5 minutes rummaging around folders looking for scripts. Quote[/b] ]Do you think that you may make any other dynamic missions, perhaps based on other islands? Unlikely on this scale, I've mentioned before I have several unfinished missions kicking around but it's sooo time-consuming. Quote[/b] ]Would it be alot easier now, with the knowledge you have accrued? Yes and no. The more I know the more I'm tempted to do stuff, I tend to throw everything and the kitchen sink into a mission which takes even longer! There's something to be had in the saying "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing". Quote[/b] ]or would it be a bloody nightmare? see above Quote[/b] ]I've not looked at DAC for arma Well worth having a play with, it's reasonably straighforward to get a populated island up and running without too much drama. It won't cover the gaps in lack of mission design however, there needs to be a plan there first otherwise you can spend hours getting all these AI spawning and moving around and the player has nothing to do. I know this from personal experience... Cheers
stegman 3 Posted April 10, 2008 Sorry, I’ve missed the last month or so. I fell into World of Warcraft and have been lost in there for sometime. But I’m back now. I see there’s another update for your mission. Well done. I'll give it a go. Any news on the "finale mission"? Have you implemented it yet, or still trying to figure out how to? sailindawg 0 Posted April 13, 2008 Mr. N, you have a new version again!!! Thanks! I have been pretty busy with soccer and not much time for wasting time on my pc. I'm still back on the last version I got from you, I thought that one was very sweet. Just downloaded the newest version. I'm going to try to play some through tonite. Excellent work! neofit 65 Posted April 20, 2008 Is it me or the Dynamic Campaign does not work with the 1.12 beta patch? I start the mission, my squad and I are at the main base, I have no objectives, just a link in the map window that describes the various mission types. No mission is given though. There is a red triangle in Corazol, when I get there there is no enemy to be found. I've tried running it with the main game with the official patch 1.08, but it says it needs patch 1.09. I've stopped playing when 1.08 was out, I was having crashes with the 0x8007 or something error every 15 minutes, only 1.12 is giving me proper game time, so I am not sure I'd like to get back to 1.09. Thanks.
xxbbcc 6 Posted April 20, 2008 Did you try to talk to the officer in the hut? In Dynamic War, you don't get missions in your notebook - the officer gives them to you and then you talk to him again when you're done. (I hope I didn't misunderstand what you wrote. I played DW under 1.12 and it worked fine.)

Doesn’t it tell you to talk with him to get missions, talk with the pilot to get a flight, talk with the medic to heal and get troops and talk to the ammo dude to get ammo..? And i thought you get a line saying to visit the SpecOps guy to get intel... It used to do this anyway, is this missing in the newest version?
neofit 65 Posted April 21, 2008 Doesn’t it tell you to talk with him to get missions, talk with the pilot to get a flight, talk with the medic to heal and get troops and talk to the ammo dude to get ammo..? Nothing of the sort, sadly. Once you know to talk to these NPC, the officer says to talk to the chopper guy for insertion, etc. I have downloaded the version from here, and the readme does not say anything about how to play the game. Thanks for the hints. One more thing, the readme says one gains points for killing enemies and finishing missions. How do I see my ratings? Also, I am finishing my first mission, a patrol. I got inserted by chopper, went to the location, killed a few nasties, then the dude on the radio said to RTB. But how? Hiking on foot halfway across the island doesn't sound fun, so I assume the mission designers though of something else. I thought they'd send a chopped back to the insertion LZ but there is none. I see I can call Air Evac, but wouldn't this hurt my ratings? Would calling any kind of support during the mission be considered as a sign of weakness and hurt ratings too? Besides the fact that, as I suppose, I won't get points for the kills that the support mission will make? Thanks.
mrn 0 Posted April 21, 2008 @Stegman Quote[/b] ]ArmA is dead... Lol, hardly! DOW has given me a well deserved break from Arma, also given me some ideas... @neofit AFAIK this mission should be working fine under 1.12, if it's not then I'd like to know so I can try and fix it. To start with you really have to play with 1.09 or above, the changes to savegame are critical and you will suffer no end of grief with earlier versions. If you'd watched the intro to the end you'd have seen the brief instructions you need to get the mission underway. Granted the readme is full of fluff 'n' stuff and not really any detail but it's been written as I go. The development of this mission has taken over a year now so I'm assuming people generally have tried earlier versions so the instructions are vague to say the least! Quote[/b] ]One more thing, the readme says one gains points for killing enemies and finishing missions. How do I see my ratings? When you finish a mission you'll get some sidechat in the bottom left hand corner telling you the current game stats. Quote[/b] ]Also, I am finishing my first mission, a patrol. Besides the fact that, as I suppose, I won't get points for the kills that the support mission will make? It would be cruel to punish the player for using the transportation option! The only punishment you get for using the support is with the artillery, airstrikes etc. You get rewarded for the kills that you get so if you wipe out a load of enemies with the support you won't get the credit for those kills. You will still be able to play the mission and it will end fine, you just won't get some of the extra toys and the better you are the better the supporting troops get. Hope that helps. Cheers
neofit 65 Posted April 21, 2008 Thanks for the reply. No I haven't watched all of the intro, it started to get long by the rows of soldiers doing their martial arts training . Another thing: is there a way to advance the time of day? I've done 3 missions and now it's nighttime, and I'm not too fond of night operations.

stegman 3 Posted April 22, 2008 Another thing: is there a way to advance the time of day? I've done 3 missions and now it's nighttime, and I'm not too fond of night operations. You could load up the mission, and press the '+' key a few times, and go make a cup of tea / coffee. This will speed up the game clock up to 4 times! Night time will soon fly by, and I find Chocolate hobnobs with the tea / coffee help pass the time nicely As for a 'field manual'.. perhaps I’ve found the best way for me to contribute to this great mission! I'll nock one up and PM it to you, MrN, and you can say 'Yay or Nay' about its inclusion..
OrLoK 20 Posted April 22, 2008 Hello there, Perhaps a user manual would be useful. I know it only takes a few mins to work out where everything is in any mission, but there's always impatient folks who, say, are used to evo for eg and get frustrated when they cant get the mish to do what they want it to do, and because of this miss out on one of the best arma mishes out there. With no offence to anyone here, my philosophy is to assume any end user has the brain capacity of a small orange and should be treated as if it is so. Essentially hold their hand through every stage of your "product", so in this case explain how to download, which folder the campaign goes into etc etc. Yes, a long and dull process, but Stegs already offered to have a go and you know i'm always about. So that essentially cuts time down by a third Just my 2 pence. Rgds LoK

I suppose I better start playing it again to remind myself how stuff works! I'm going to be changing jobs again in the next month so after that time it's unlikely I'll have much game time for the forseeable future so I'll have to get my arse in gear. OrLoK 20 Posted April 23, 2008 A group hobnob session? sounds kinky So we can safley assume this is the last release for a while, what with your job and everything? That may actually help in the creation of a user manual as nowt will be changed for a bit and bugs can be doumented etc. Steg, I think it's in your ball park now! Again, Im happy to assist. Oh, and congrats on the new job! rgds LoK

manzilla 1 Posted April 28, 2008 I'm getting some strange messages when using the SLX mod. The messages seem to have something to do with SLX radio and gl3. mrn 0 Posted May 5, 2008 Both versions. 0.92L Removed GL3 references to stop conflicts with the SLX mod Very quick change to make this more compatible with SLX, it's well worth trying Cheers

Unlikely, unless there's any specific issues that need addressing or I have a sudden fit of inspiration and motivation this version is the most current and will remain that way for the forseeable future.
