someone or mod team please make a Desert Storm mod based on 90's Gulf War similar to BF1942's Desert Combat( Desert Shield, El Alamain, Dust Bowl, 73 Eastings...)greedyav3.gif

right now there're many units ready for both US and Iraq sideswinrt6.gif

I'd like to see these two beaty's converted to arma because we lack some quality ww2 weapons.

custom models for dod:s which could be converted to arma:

The "31st" WW2 mod has a very nice model of an M1 rifle

which they're working on - hopefully the texture suite they

give it will do the model justice. The "Burning sands" mod has

a good late-production M1928 Thompson machine carbine in

progress. I also made a reasonably good model of a Tommy

gun available for free download but I don't think anyone has

bothered with it. sad_o.gif

sad that the one doing it will have to secretively work on it since in this forum porting is punished with long, boring and pointless discourses about how worthless porting is compared to the god-like ritual of making a model from scratch... icon_rolleyes.gif

FN 2000 was released by Slovenian mod

IR ? do engine allow it ? i doubt it

No mate, the Slovenian MOD has never publicly released the FN2000 from what I can see, from their thread they said it would be released with V1.5 of their troops, however that was June 2008 and no sign of it yet............

I've searched Arma Info, Armaholic, and the Bi Forums to no avail...........

Because the M240, like many other machine guns, is a fully automatic weapon capable of firing as long as you hold the trigger.

They have to worry about barrel overheat, ammunition supply, etc. in real life, which are not a concern in ArmA.

It's possible but awkward for people who aren't giants for the m240.

The pkm seems more comfortable to hold but seems to bump around more.

yes you are right.

i meant fired while being held up like an assault rifle with the same control as a assault rifle.

that one guy is massive and he is being pushed around by the m240. firing full auto he'd be all over the place, but in Armait's too easy and too controlled.

So my request would be to have the m240 fired from hip as an animation replace the held up to eye when fired animation. with subsequent reduction in accuracy.  With ability/need to 'walk' the rounds to the target based on seeing how close you were firing and then adjusting accordingly.

that way the machingunes would be made to feel more 'different' from assualt rifles, rather than just being 200 round m16/a74's as they are now.

I suspect that if they did that then you'd see your AI

machine gunners not firing very much. It's apparent that they

stand up and fire from the shoulder because it's easier for

them to maintain LOS to the target like that (the AI has no

idea about proper, realistic firing positions - when "battle"

is joined they merely move to achieve LOS then just

cabby away at the enemy).

I would like to see someone make several wrecked versions of the vehicles and aircrafts in arma. With the editor update you get some, but I think with the BIS released models it wouldn't be too hard, but I'm not an addon maker, hehe.

If anyone could please, please fix the default M4A1 rifle - that white patch is so annoying - I'd be incredibly appreciative!

I love the M4A1 and use it on missions all the time - but that patch is killing me!

I tried Red's Fix, and that didn't fix it... sad_o.gif

I have a bunch of pictures of various bases/FOB's/military buildings from real life and games...I know for the most part we are very limited to what buildings we have for building bases. If anyone who is pretty good at modeling buildings would like to look into making some new stuff so we can finally have some proper realistic bases, just give me a shout and I can .rar them up and send them over. <hopes and prays>

The "hidden" grass (e.g. here) I see in many of the screenshots looks great nearby and from a distance, and has a higher drawdistance than the normal grass. I was thinking, maybe creating other foliage in the same way would mean trees and bushes still look good from far off as they don't currently.

For example, in this pic, the tress in the near distance have floating leaves, and each gap is a whole pixel wide, giving the graphics a rough, scruffy appearance. In motion the effect is even worse, as parts flicker in and out of view. The hidden grass seems to smoothen off any rough edges at a distance, and is less intensive on the GPU than the default grass.

So if anyone understands what I mean, maybe a foliage addon (trees, bushes etc.) using the same techniques as the hidden grass might improve the graphics, and perhaps reduce processing load as well.

Just my thoughts.
