Acecombat 0 Posted May 11, 2006 I see the PC running ArmA is a Dell XPS with a SLI setup. Is this PC like BIS/IDEA property or does Dell supply every booth with a PC of their own because of some contract they've got at E3 or something?
Totala 0 Posted May 11, 2006 I hope BIS is not making the same mistake as lots of European companies, who think they can sell just by quality alone. It's a nice philosophy, and it may work in Europe for a while, but if you want to reach North American or Asian markets you need to PROMOTE. And promote big time. I used to work for a German company that developed high-end DTP systems. And by general consensus they had the best system available worldwide. Everybody agreed on that. Up until the end. When they went bankrupt. Because they found it beneath them to steep as low as the Americans in doing serious marketing. Those high-volume marketers took over, saturated the mind-share and market with their messages, and the customers ended up thinking LOUD and LOTS means GOOD. I'm sorry to say, but quality alone will not do it these days... Almost true. In 2001, when BIS first came out with OFP, there was not much marketing and so on done by CodeMasters. However, OFP turned out to be sold at almost 2 millions CDs simply because it is an outstanding game, that was advertising for itself. I would not be surprised if that would be the case once again
martinovic 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Things change, this is an industry now. Look at hollywood, crappy movies galore with huge advertisement campaigns and hype, that's in store for games too. You might even see games about gay-cowboys in the future, if that brings in money.
lilwillie 47 Posted May 11, 2006 We should all take into account the Codemasters/BIS breakup Instead of thinking that BIS/IDEA is out there hoping a publisher picks them up. Maybe BIS is interviewing those that want Armed Assault real bad. BIS getting to decide who THEY want to pub. I'm sure they've been talking with pubs, and possibly already bounced a few because they didn't have the business model that IDEA/BIS are looking for. You would think they are being very carefull as to not have a repeat of the past.

Mr_Tea 0 Posted May 11, 2006 The publishers sell every "shit", if there are enough dumb people to buy that crap.
kernriver 4 Posted May 11, 2006 The publishers sell every "shit", if there are enough dumb people to buy that crap. Unfortunately, i think it's the other way around Publishers know there are enough dumb people around to buy every shitty game they put out, so they exploit that fact and don't bother to release good games anymore, of course there are exceptions, and of them is BIS and their future publisher
Mr_Tea 0 Posted May 11, 2006 I`m glad that BIS didn`t subscribed the first contract they get offered.
CsonkaPityu 0 Posted May 11, 2006 I don't understand. Good games mean good names and good names mean lots of buyers. Just look at WoW, the game itself is boring and nothing special yet because it's a blizzard game it sold well. No good games mean less buyers sooner or later. Guest Ti0n3r Posted May 11, 2006 LOL. A good game is good because you think it is good. It's very hard to tell what's good and what's bad as far as facts go...
deanosbeano 0 Posted May 11, 2006 A game can sometimes only be as good as its PR. just because the 80 or so people on bi forums every night know about it dont mean the gaming world does.
kernriver 4 Posted May 11, 2006 I agree with you guys. Who can tell what a good game is. Everybody has it's own favourite. Some like RPG, some like RTS or FPS...In my country people would say: sto ljudi, sto cudi, which would mean something like: a hundered people, a hundered personalities. I am talking about the effort that publishers put in a game. They release half-finished products and gamers buy them because they really don't know better. sniper pilot 36 Posted May 11, 2006 I think that may be some sort of holding breath meter... (idk why you would use it with the extended FOV provided with a binocular, but thats my 2cents.)

Guest Ti0n3r Posted May 11, 2006 Does anyone remember how long it took before we saw the first couple of ArmA/Game2 previews from E3 last year? It's been one day and we've had one preview
Balschoiw 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Quote[/b] ]Does anyone remember how long it took before we saw the first couple of ArmA/Game2 previews from E3 last year? I guess I hold the record here. There was an interview conducted with BIS guys at E3 and a woman from Codis I guess promised to post the interview. That was one year ago.
ziiip 1 Posted May 11, 2006 Okay, it's tomorrow, or we won't have any really interesting news about ArmA. I want a HD video!!!!
stakex 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Does anyone remember how long it took before we saw the first couple of ArmA/Game2 previews from E3 last year? It's been one day and we've had one preview Screens and Info started coming out the first day... followed by interviews and previews the next couple days. This year it appears there will be a lot less info/screenshots released for these games. But there is still a day and a half left.... so who knows.
martinovic 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Just look at the booth it looks like something from an office worker's nightmare. Besides, Bohemia is known as Bohemia so this new name with IDEA might mislead people looking for ArmA that don't know all that much about the IDEA, publishers might even think it's already a publisher, so yea. Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted May 11, 2006 I'm sorry to say, but quality alone will not do it these days... In Armed Assault's case it can, because B.I./OFP already has a huge fanbase thanks to AddOns. AddOns + Join-in-Progress = Many Happy Players Dying to Get This Game Because They Will Never Need to Play the Same Game Twice Why buy a Vietnam shooter, a World War II shooter, a sci-fi shooters, and "period" shooters when you can just buy ArmA and download free AddOns? The only thing that killed it for OFP:R was the lack of mid-game joining. That's about to change. Those of you who have been looking condescendingly on Operation Flashpoint: Elite are about to experience the fun we have been having for several months. ade_mcc 0 Posted May 11, 2006 FYI..... I posted a request on the PCFormat Blog to visit the Idea stand as they have a guy at E3 (the comments are at the bottom of the page) Linky the response: Quote[/b] ]I did visit Bohemia's booth the very last thing yesterday. They've had some encouraging renewed interest thanks, in thier own words, specifically to the coverage IDEA Games got in Format. I also managed to pick up some preview code of ArmA so you can bet I'll be playing that quite heavily when I get back to Blighty. I will of course report all here oh, to get my grubby hands on that preview code!

mr burns 132 Posted May 11, 2006 ..publishers might even think it's already a publisher, so yea. Got a little theory about that, can´t seem to find the reference pics by Thysmer..still can´t spell his name, but i posted it elsewhere so here´s what got my attention: When you google for the mysterious akella it comes up with many links to a publisher, seems like a candidate for me
