orange juice 0 Posted June 23, 2006 The windows in these pics look great and reflections of trees can be seen in the first.... for a moment i had the sudden urge to push the mouse a little to the left, that dancing banana, but now that you say it. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/confused_o.gif' alt='confused_o.gif'>
Journeyman 0 Posted June 23, 2006 I'd be more inclined to say that those "reflections" are the trees BEHIND the building, which you can see through the windows. Yup! You could be right there! Having zoomed in a bit and seen the line of the window frame of the opposite windows  So 'on reflection' I concede to the optical illusion
aus_twisted 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Dynamic reflections on shiny surfaces in such a large scale game would be a waste of CPU and video power. By looking at the AH1 glass it has a reflection map on it which would be the way to go.
guerilla -MCY- 0 Posted June 23, 2006 in the video from the press release you see the real time day/night and wheater cycles and the tree starts to move as the weather gets worste. might this be affected througt wind ? and what about bullets ?

http://www.fotocraft.org.uk/images/real_glass.jpg http://www.fotocraft.org.uk/images/real_glass2.jpg ... Question is can the glass be smashed/shot out (a bit like in GR)? .. Oh, and a nice glass breaking and shattering sound to accompany it! I think a shot creat a star in the glass, unless you tear down the whole building. sniper pilot 36 Posted June 25, 2006 Apparently because they haven't made or are working on the pilots and tank crews :P Yeah and the different soldier models. When you look at the non-addon/mod Reg. OFP, it only shiped with the soldier, officer, SF, pilot, Crew, Sniper and civilian models. (medic is just a cross texture addon to the soldier model). What im looking forward to seeing is the possiblity of the different models for each side, including civilian. i like how bis keeps us wondering as it keeps the freshness high and disapointment low. Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted June 26, 2006 That's not a palm swaying. Palms don't sway like that at any temperature. The palm FRONDS do, but not the trunks.
wrAthchild 0 Posted June 27, 2006 That new(?) video, showing some weather fx, looked really promising. Indeed!

Journeyman 0 Posted June 27, 2006 That's not a palm swaying.  Palms don't sway like that at any temperature.  The palm FRONDS do, but not the trunks. yup thats correct... when i went to Morroco to see where they made BHD (dont ask) the fonds swayed and imo trunks rarely sway unless its a major storm. It is true! I've spent time in Singapore and the Philippines and seen many a palm tree! I've never seen one sway much either, in fact in tropical climates the weather is usually too calm even for the fronds to sway! However, when a wind does pick up it is the fronds that sway and dance around not the trunk. For the trunk of a palm tree to bend in the wind would require the force of a tropical storm I would have thought and the fronds would then all be pointing in one direction! If I get time I’ll try to post a short video clip from my archive of footage whilst in the Phils and Singapore. … Whether BIS would be able to implement swaying fronds as opposed to trunks though is another matter!
meyamoti 0 Posted June 27, 2006 Indeed, palm tree trunks are very tough, almost like oak but not quite, the trunk does not sway,I once lived in Hawaii and used to see em alot,I also had the misofortune of seeing them during a hurricane while being the hurricane, boy was that fun..5 years old, sitting by a TV and watching my aladin videos while a hurricane rages outside, and winds that those things carry can pretty much bend anything except the stronger of all trees. mc sonar 0 Posted June 27, 2006 better swaying trees instead of static things like that http://img74.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nohykopie8su.jpg remember this one??? im glad about any movement in armed assault
eJay 1 Posted June 27, 2006 I've done 3 movies with ArmA physics (or...no...you will see ) - LINK This is low detail mode on 640x480 (In Fraps game lose a lot of frames).
D.murphy man 0 Posted June 27, 2006 Lol nice too see we can once again send vehicles into orbit with a few sarchels Hopfully be fixed by release, or at least in patches. No idea what was happening with that HMMV though, balancing on two wheels?! Reminds me of that old flying tank trick, flipping a tank upside down with your self still inti and pressing manual fire button, you dont shoot any rounds but the tank still has some kick back, keep clicking and itll take off and youll be able to fly for some time. icebreakr 3159 Posted June 27, 2006 I guess BIS left a lot on to-do for the remaining 25% (being said that press demo is at 75% completion...)... lets hope and pray this gets fixed, in-game physics improved a lot in the last 5 years

mr burns 132 Posted June 27, 2006 Real bad stuff Can´t hear it anymore Just read what Metalchris wrote in the last sentence here ... BIS is the ultimate developer but still they´re people like you and me, not robots. We may forget that by times.
FCOPZ-illuminator 0 Posted June 27, 2006 Can´t hear it anymore Keep cool Burns, can't see a lot of old stuff, i wanna see some new stuff with improved technologie... I can't believe this is the current development status.
mr burns 132 Posted June 27, 2006 Everything cool and chilled here It´s just that you see this kind of comments all the time, no matter how often it´s been stated that the curent review version is an alpha that a) does not show the current project status & b) is to be improved nonetheless. Imagine you´re working at BIS and everytime you browse the Forum you´ll have to read through numerous complaints..over and over again. Would that motivate you to work harder when you´re already half a day in the office? Me not
