EndersLoop 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Looking good. Best news all year for me, this year was a massive let-down for me in PC gaming. Just a little longer!! Sorry for that other thread, I should have looked before I leapt.
TeRp 1 Posted December 2, 2005 Thanks for the press release, however I hoped to see some more editing specific news, but yeah, that doesnt fit in a press release
Extremeus Decimus 0 Posted December 2, 2005 *jaw breaks from awe* i love you BIS! Thanks for the press release.
bn880 5 Posted December 2, 2005 Looking much better than OFP1, great stuff. Too bad the press release wasn't made earlier, a lot ofp eople did a lot of cursing recently. Also, Xmas holidays... mmm two weeks to play ArmA would have been cool.
brataccas 0 Posted December 2, 2005 I notice in 1 of the pics an aftereffect of an explosion the same way as ofp, guess we wont have deformable terrain then but I dont care it looks good anyway
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted December 2, 2005 Holy Shi-T! this looks great. But why the hell in 2006? I have so many days off during christmas. I even sent my girlfriend away for that period!
bn880 5 Posted December 2, 2005 That's a long period she's having, maybe you should have her checked out. sorry I couldn't resist
Antichrist 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Really nice press release and screenshots. But I am really dissapointed about the water. Looks like it will be as useless as OFP water. Waves make things even worse. Imagine every river and lake you try to make will look exactly the same as open sea.
jtec 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Great work BIS, looking forward to when this game is released and i know its gonna be a corker.
RUKH 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Nice work, it´ll be interesting to see as the game gets polished to perfection in the next few months. And a video to showcase anims and sound!
Gordy 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Looking at the picture of a soldier I get the impression that pro 3D applications will not be supported. I am just guessing but It'd allow to kick the game to the next level for animation or its looks. I hope I am wrong there. Every editable game these days supports external non-developer based tools if I am not mistaken. On the update part, I get the impression of Spetznaz, Duke Forever or games "always in the update-developement-improvement" stage that never see the daylight. I understand that BIS has a need to reach perfection but in the game industry 5 years is too damn long. In such a fast paced progress, I'll see a 7800 cards or X2 CPUs in phones in two years. I think BIS's main concern right now is a military tools developement rather than game industry. Or I just had a bad day.
FCOPZ-illuminator 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Great stuff guys ! The release moved to H1 2006 is ok, because i have a lot of work too at the moment *LoL*

Must admit animations needed more supprt. I personally dont care how long it takes for them to release the game as i know its gonna be something special when its complete.

Commando84 0 Posted December 3, 2005 Damn nice to see the press release! im proud to be a ofp fan now I was a bit disapointed when i found out that it has been delayed but hey thats still time for some mayor improvements and development time I liked all the features mentioned and it was everything i hoped and a little more than i hoped for that Armed assault would have. Well i can wait, there will be more time for me now to save up money for a new graphics card, cpu , harddrive for 'em missions & addons and ram memory and stuff Would be a nice move from bis to release it at the same date that Ofp 1 got released Only thing i would like is that they could make some video trailers showing off some of the new animations and terreain and battles , maybe some Mp footage and SP campaign footage

I think BIS's main concern right now is a military tools developement rather than game industry. Or I just had a bad day. Well BIS has made an expansion which was more renewing than most sequals. The highly acclaimed Halo2 is much more like its prequal than what resistance is like CWC. BIS also made Operation Flashpoint: Elite for the xbox which is a totally new game even though it looks like the PC version. During this time their sister company BIA has developed a training tool for the military and the second version is coming next year. Within a few months we will get ArmA and perhaps a year or so after that yet another game. We have only known about ArmA for six months and people start to compare it to Duke Nukem Forever which they probably started developing before Suma even started writing the poseidon engine. ArmA has been delayed only once and it's only six months at worse. Sure, OFP2 was delayed too but the game would had looked much worse than ArmA if it had been released when they first said it would be released.
LoTekK 0 Posted December 3, 2005 Nice press release. The first shot in particular made my jaw drop. The new terrain looks ace. Llauma: Everyone compares it to DNF because it seems to have become the in vogue thing to do over recent years. People forget that software (of any sort) takes time to develop, test, develop, test, optimize, test, develop, test, optimize... etc. It's the whole "me" syndrome. "OMFG delay! WTFBBQ! Me! Me! Me!!1one!" And then, as you pointed out in a prior post, they complain when the laundry list of features they're asking to be implemented is either missing or broken. Human nature, I guess. Or bandwagon syndrome.
armandobronca 0 Posted December 3, 2005 i havent words Just great goooooooooooooood job bis
Mr_Tea 0 Posted December 3, 2005 Hmm, i hope they find a publisher in the near future, shouldn`t be that hard for BIS. The new pictures looks better than expected. I can wait a little bit longer for the release of Arma, but only because i focus on other games atm ( F.E.A.R., Dawn of War-Winter Assault). To BIS, . Scrub 0 Posted December 3, 2005 YYYEEEESSSSSS!!!!!! Â You awesome frikin' ba****ds! I love ya! **cleans screen** Â Â And to all the naysayers: Â 60+ MP? more land on one island than all the other islands combined? Â Edit: lol, after reading all the posts in this thread, there is STILL whining going on... In business you have a triangle, at each point is one of three words: "good", "inexpensive", "fast". you the customer can have any two... but the business gets the third. I prefer "good" and "inexpensive" so I'll give BIS the 'time' part of it. Â (go BIS go! and assorted fanboy rah-rah)
