Who will continue work for ArmA?

So, can you addon makers give a word on this? I am currently making an article about this on Arma.dk, so if you could give me your thoughts etc.

Oh, and while you are doing that, you can register at our site, hehe smile_o.gif (Or atleast stop by and check it out)

Sure I will convert my Guns(and posible men too) to ArmA and hopfully there will be a couple of more setings to make them more realistic. thumbs-up.gif

I just hope that I can afford a new computer to go along with ArmA.

BIS sais that OFP addons will work in ArmA..

just with tons of new possibilities biggrin_o.gif (guess OFP addons will look quite bad in ArmA though without upgrading)

I'll certainly continue to work on addons for Armed Assault. Actually one could already start with it when BIS would let us know what will be different to OFP-Addons. Like Polycounts, how the Lods have to be built... Perhaps they could release the new O2 and a tutorial before the release of Armed Assault.

I will convert all my already done addons and i will start the...

...<span style='font-size:19pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:red'>Clone Wars - The Renegades</span></span> Mod...

for Arma. It will be a Star Wars Mod during the whole Clone Wars. I actually wanted to make it for OFP but i have decided to make it to a ArmA modification.

Thanks modders - perhaps you wouldn't mind making a quote about your mod and your hopes/views for the mod in ArmA. Then we could include them in the article - also if you could include a url and/or email address for the lead in your mod team then we can put links on the articles.

well...

SCWC will continue to work the same way as now, basically one addon at a time.

and we have great hope that ArmA will solve a issue we have with our latest addon.

it´s a turretless tank wich IRL aims by turning the tank towards the target and then aiming up and down by raising or lowering the suspension in the fron or rear.

in OFP it´s impossible to get it to work, mainly becouse the driver cant shoot (it seams, atleast i dont get it to work), the gunner cant hit anything since the driver doesnt want to aim the tank the right direction, and if it does it just overshoots the target (shoots too high)

so currently it only works with a Human driver and a human gunner (no AI in the tank).

and having a commander wont help either.

i know i have explained this before in our other thread (search for SCWC)

but maybe this works in ArmA, we can always hope (atleast for a "smarter" AI)

ye The_Shadow is right now its hard if not imposible with out a gr8 scripter to get the S-Tank working for AI human players can use it just fine but AI cant use it at all hope fuly AI can coop beter in ArmAs

so the Swedish Cold War Crisis team (2ppl) will be working in ArmAs i can promise you that

Surely addons made to OFP will be compatible, but it wont the other way around. So if the mods are making addons for ArmA, people that only have ofp:R won't be able to use it.

Its just like when Ressistance was released - the modding community for 1.46 kinda died.

I think this is the right section to talk about editing, ey?

Just like fanpages for ArmA goes into "ofp/squad and fanpages"... smile_o.gif

SJB will most-definately be moving over to AA. In terms of unit creation, looking at the AA screen-shots that have been released, those who own VBS1 (such as myself) will have a slight advantage, as we'll already have access to the new head and hands that would appear to be used in AA. That is of course, assuming no other huge modifications i.e in terms of LOD construction have been made. Also on a side note, existing OFP units, which people will undoubtably wish to 'port will more than likely need the new head and hand models added to them, much like OFP addons being imported to VBS1.

If you look at OFP>AA in a similar way as OFP>VBS1, then weapons and such wont need to be edited drastically, of course this is all supposition at this stage, as we as a community are not 100% about the inner workings of AA, so before I dig myself a hole too deep to climb out of, I'll leave it there.

I see it that way:

most of the work has already been done when creating

an addon for OFP - kollision lods - resolution lods.

Now all that needs to be done from the modeling side is:

create a new highest resolution lod (the main model which

will be seen when you're close to the addon) and probably a

few (hope alot) adds and changes to the config and it should

be done.

This should be enough motivation for addonmakers to continue

working on their addons when AA has been released.

AA will not keep me from working on addons too wink_o.gif

As DKM is not my mod, and it is not my choice to make, DKM will NOT be moving to Armed Assault. If Carnage, the leader wishes too then of course it will be, but at the moment it's a no. If it is to continue into Armed Assault, it might be without me as a member.

As a side note, I hope people will respect addon makers' wishes who might not want their addons used in AA. It sure would be hyprocritical after all the trouble kicked up about OFP addons being imported to VBS, only for OFP players to convert to AA without asking permission. (And AA is even less related to OFP than VBS is, as it's a new engine, so the excuse that it's 'the same game' or something like that is not valid.)

Yes, that's one thing that is always troubling...

However, I'm surprised of this, Jaguar. DKM is one of my favorites, and I'd hate to see you left behind (assuming people stop playing ofp  crazy_o.gif ). However, it's your desicion to make to stay behind. Even if the rest of DKM moves on. (as you said, it's not your mod) confused_o.gif Long live DKM!

I'm modelling 3WX stuff in the current O2 exclusively in hopes of releasing it for Armed Assault.

Good stuff is on the way as soon as I get my hands on the proper tools.
