reconmercs 0 Posted June 18, 2004 anyone getting this error: "data Field read error (sk_palubka_det_night.paa)" happens when I exit mission editor from the FDF maps and sometimes during missions...thanks in advance...
wolfbane 0 Posted June 18, 2004 try again, worked for me. It did? That´s weird because i tried several times with the same result, the MP just stood there and the gate wouldn´t open even if i waited a couple of minutes. It´s not a big deal really since i have played the mission in 1.2 a long time ago. But i couldn´t remember how to get the uav to move to a certain location so i though i would play it again to refresh my memory Btw, a cool thing i did with the uav in the editor was that i used it with a forward observer to direct artillery fire from the CoC UA. Modern warfare at its finest. I only wish i had a UA mortar with Strix ammunition or an artillery unit with Bonus ammunition. I´ve seen these babies in action irl and they kick some serious armor ass
pogingwapo 0 Posted June 18, 2004 Is it OK to use FlashGet to download from tacticalblunder? There are times when I use FlashGet that the file I downloaded turned out to be corrupt. When I downloaded it the usual way it turned out OK.

theavonlady 2 Posted June 18, 2004 I've installed from the installer.exe file twice. Each time, at the very end of the install, there was a crash and a Win XP error report window, stating an exception error occurred. However, everything appears to be fully installed and working. I ran an MD5 checksum against the file and it matches the checksum posted at the start of this thread. edit: for the record, when ZoneAlarm prompted me to authorize the program's net access, a responded NO. Could that be related to the crash? Have you tested that?

Could that be related to the crash? Have you tested that? Hmm hmm. Our installer is just ordinary RAR self-extracting archive and should work fine with Windows XP. But with lovely Windows I guess everything is possible Denying net access should not matter, it just tries to load "latest information about FDFMOD 1.3" page from our home site. Like right now it should (krhm, lazy me) probably point to instructions how to fix Uzi bug. Also, in severe problems with installer, you can extract it with Winrar. Just right click at installer file and select "Extract to...". Same goes for non-Windows dedicated server installations, use Rar software to extract the files. Edit: Why don't I ever learn: Always doublecheck for spelling mistakes.
DeLiltMon 0 Posted June 18, 2004 I spent all last night playing the missions and all I can say is wow, great stuff, I haven't spent that long playing Opf for a long time, you've obviously worked very hard on this, a big thank you for all your effort
Gollum1 0 Posted June 18, 2004 I had the SP mission "Seiged Cazin" crash on me with no error message. I just loaded it and right after the OnLoadMission text came up, I was looking at my desktop. Hmm, worked for me. The mission didn't end after killing all the enemies and waiting a long while, though. edit: typo

Baphomet 0 Posted June 18, 2004 So. It's finally been released. A few questions though. Has the inability to click on the tactical map and issue orders after someone's launched and ordered a UAV been fixed? What exactly does "reworked mean" in terms of the changes made to the BIS and FDF units? Is this aesthetic or functional? I kind of liked FDF's choice of detail and the detail of BIS models as they were. It was one of the key features of the mod that made me even want to play it. If the latter affirms my concerns about decreased performance. I think I'll just stick to 1.2 features be damned.
Blake 0 Posted June 18, 2004 New models don't require any more performance than the old ones, on the contrary closer lod levels have less polys than the old ones had. FDF has always included proper LOD levels for all objects so it should not be overally any heavier than 1.2. Sticking to 1.2 really makes no sense Of course FDF: Maldevic island is a bit heavier than normal islands but that's a price that has to be paid for it. I'm running it on 1.2 Ghz tbird + radeon 7200 and it runs ok if I tune down some details, however I'm in a process of getting update for my hardware. It's the same old comp I've had since OFP demo came out so as ofp evolves so should the hardware (it's been out 3 years already).
theavonlady 2 Posted June 18, 2004 In the campaign's Peacemakers mission, is there a position on any of the towers where you have visual contact with the target? I could not find such a viewpoint. So I took him out from the grassy knoll.

So I took him out from the grassy knoll. Yes, the tower next to the entrance in the base (not the radio tower - the watch towers). Shoot Guba (headshot) and you're fine - just don't wait for too long.
aj_addons 0 Posted June 18, 2004 does the campaign have an end yet or does it still end with the cliffhanger from 1.2?
Gollum1 0 Posted June 18, 2004 does the campaign have an end yet or does it still end with the cliffhanger from 1.2? Cliffhanger. The missions are about the same, just the units and difficulty level has been updated...

GoOB 0 Posted June 18, 2004 IRL what craft does the Finnish Forces sue to transport heavy armour over sea ? Nothing. It doesn't transport any armor over the sea, because it is the Finnish DEFENCE forces... Well you do have some armoured units stationed in Kosovo etc. right? But I guess the aircraft that transports those are leased from Russian companies or other nations contributing to the peace keeping operations. But that is the FRDF ;)

feersum.endjinn 6 Posted June 18, 2004 Does Finland ever use something like car ferries to transport tanks? Is there anything preventing them from doing so? Finnish companies have special obligations during times of crisis. That's about as far as it is usually discussed
