blackdog~ 0 Posted August 2, 2004 is anyone gonna do a civi humvee ambulance skin after these are released?  would be nice to have a civilian Humvee Ambulance for the airports and large towns  when did they started making civil H1 ambulance? a Humvee for the military i could understand, but Humvees aren't the kind of vehicle that civilian Paramedics would use. they're slow and not the most manuveralble. i certianly wouldn't wana be in the path of one in a congested city when they got a bleeder on board. Camp Pendleton fire department has a civillian Hummer H1 for whatever reason, not the M998 but the actual $98k one.\ That ambulance hummer is absolutely ridiculous, some one has way too much money. --------------------------------------------------------- PitViper: The BIS jeep has some kind of funky way of antenna tie-downs. Normally the antennas that attached to the MX6707 base were tied down to the mirror brackets (not sure if it's the same with Humvees but I would imagine it is) FischKopp: Here's some additional photos of the 1st Marine Division's Motorpool - not sure which one but it's part of the 1st Marine Division for sure - note the custom roof racks which is ONLY done by this motorpool. You're not going to make it out of this thread without being beaten by an angry mob now!! Apoligize! (i'm kidding for those who take everything seriously) Anyhoo ice cream cone isn't really the way to describe it. It's more of a... ball thing... you can see one in this pic http://www.tacticalblunder.com/antennae.jpg
Drill Sergeant 0 Posted August 5, 2004 Thats a signal enhancer, Ie a ball of wire in a ABS sheild that enhances reception. They had a bunch of used gulf war ones for sale in a military surpluss catiloge not too long ago.
blackdog~ 0 Posted August 5, 2004 I just figured it was a ball on the tip so whenever you hit your head on the antenna (which happens a lot) you wouldn't poke an eye out

Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted August 6, 2004 Fishkopp is only doing standard USMC HMMWV's. The Ma Deuce is only painted in camo on SOF HMMWV's. So there is no reason why fshkopp should do the same on his HMMWV's. And in woodland it's not really needed.

PitViper 0 Posted August 6, 2004 PitViper: The BIS jeep has some kind of funky way of antenna tie-downs. Normally the antennas that attached to the MX6707 base were tied down to the mirror brackets (not sure if it's the same with Humvees but I would imagine it is) the tiedowns are wrapped around the top of the doorpost between the front and rear doors. Once the proper height is determined, the excess rope is "braided" up the rope to increase its strength. For a single antenna humvee the tiedown looks like a right triangle from the front. For dual antenna humvees, they form an X over the humvee when viewing from the front.
PitViper 0 Posted August 6, 2004 I just figured it was a ball on the tip so whenever you hit your head on the antenna (which happens a lot) you wouldn't poke an eye out heh.. I was a signal guy and I just thought it was a safety device!
