Csla 2

Recommended Posts

WOW! hold on a minute! I use the CSLA units when ever I can. The APC's and other armored vehicles are simply the best around. the choppers are awesome and the MI-17's in this mod are the ones that maked me love the MI-17.

I love the CSLA mod. I use it a lot. Usually I used it together with the FDF mod, but since FDF1.3 I can't get it to work anymore (I can't get FDF-mod to work as a '-mod=FDF' parameter. I can only get it to work using their exe file)

The desert island looked very promising in the pictured posted in the photo-thread (some time ago). It looked at the first desert iland that wasn't completely desert (with palmtrees ect.). The towns also looked amazing.

So don't think that the CSLA mod isen't used a lot. I think there are a lot of 'ghost' users that use large parts of the mod in their OFP games with the RIP. The CSLA mod is known for it's extremely high quality units.

So keep it up!

If you had renamed the folder to FDF before 1.3, the folder should now be called finmod. rock.gif Check the folder name and try again, btw I recommend you use Kegetys' OFP Launcher instead of shortcuts. wink_o.gif

btw where can I get CSLA MP missions?

I think that CSLA is not played/used in community

I also disagree with this statement. I play around with CSLA quite a bit. You guys also have some of the best looking units around (I've said it before and I'll say it again - the CSLA BMPs are the best looking units in OFP,) and that is saying a lot.

I also think that a lot of people play it, but it isn't quite as big as FDF. IMO, the only things that CSLA is missing to make it as big as FDF in the public eye is a config that replaces effects and sounds and a landmass or two. A lot of FDF's appeal is that it's a whole self-contained mod, and CSLA is about 95% to that point itself.

I know that I'm definetely looking forward to anything that the CSLA team is going to release, and I'm sure that many others feel the same.

@Gollum1:

Sorry, I don't know about any user-made mission using CSLA II. MOD ... except missions released include initial version of CSLA II. or patches 2.01 and 2.02 sad_o.gif

One MP mission was released include patch 2.02.

Thread about missions for CSLA II. MOD

Exactly my thoughts, CSLA urgently needs

1) Custom radio voices. Absolutely. Nothing spoils the atmosphere more than your guys blaring over the radio in their loud Texas accents.

2) Custom terrain. The CSLA campaign was a bit ruined for me in the sense that the whole thing took place on a big island (Nogova), and that point wasn't even attempted to be covered up, in the beginning the whole CSLA army evacuated to a small airstrip island in the North. wow_o.gif I just felt a bit "Uuuhh...am I in some alternate universe?", to be honest.

3) New explosions and sharper GUI as seen in FDF, at the very least.

If these things were added then the CSLA mod would rival FDF, IMO...

I agree with that as well.

I use the CSLA rip wth the FDF mod. The BIS effects just kill the game for me and FDF has that enviroment looking and sounding good.

Between the CSLA and FDF, I have just about every east addon I need.

The problem now is just it's hard to fit anything else in there. wink_o.gif

Some notes on future updates of CSLA Mod

We feel there's still much to be done regarding the user-friendliness and general modernization of CSLA Mod, and we take all these suggestions very seriously. Since the CSLA Team will soon undergo some internal changes, therefore we decided to change our approach, update our goals and mod's structure.

We made a deep and thorough reassessment of the mod's structure, purpose and historical focus. Whole Operation Lacerta is a trial on which we would like to test new structure of mod, to update its "guts" and to refine features already available in CSLA II.

Operation Lacerta is a fictious scenario, for which we re-make the Lizardia island (made by Jennik), create some custom Czechoslovak and Arabian-style "tango" troops, vehicles for both sides and scope on how to bring you all some interesting infantry combat experience (we decided to relly rather on careful AI setup and scripting than on quantity of enemy to be destroyed).

We research, we learn, we read books on guerilla warfare, tactical aerial assaults, islamic architecture and many more.

The whole story will be "told" by mini-campaign consisting of approx. 6 missions (or possibly few of such minicampaigns, each in role of particular person - a GI, a pilot and a tank crew), several SP missions and backed up by MP "re-enactments" of major events that "happened" during Operation Lacerta.

In the future, we wish to present whole Czechoslovak People's Army as a part of the feared Warsaw Pact force in Central European theatre during 1980s, as it was in RL. We think that Cold War is quite strong theme, and Warsaw Pact armies are still uncovered by OFP mod-making community.

We wish NOT to make another "army of Eastern supermen", but rather to document the state of former CSLA, its role, strategical and tactical goals, with all its strenghts and weaknesses. CSLA offers variety of interresting units, tactics and a little bit of "behind-iron-curtain" exotic which might be quite attractive to the community. We wish to further focus on infantry combat simulation (such a return to the roots).

As a part of our plans, we will surely appeal on more military accuracy and sense than before, we plan a new island (depicting border between socialistic Czechoslovakia and former West Germany) and a decent "opposing force" (US Army, Bundeswehr or Grenzchutz). We will also focus on effects, new voices and "game mechanics" including reassessment of the weapon setting. We wish to use some configuration enhancement or at least incorporate its parts into mod's code (ECP is my personal favourite).

I know these plans may sound too broad. But we will do our best to bring you some more stuff to play with, and to offer you the best we can. I hope we will soon be able to announce that there is WARSAW PACT UNLEASHED.

EDIT: Last note, we don't want to "rival" anybody. We just want to offer another alternative. However, we wish to achieve the same standard of complexity and quality as FDF, which we respect as a leading force in mod-making community.

Thats great news! I've really enjoyed making quasi-historical missions with Rudedog's American vehicles and your Czech forces. Up until 1989, we all though that you guys were going to come across that border. Happily it never happened, but it is fun to look back and wonder "What if...?".

Thanks for all your hard work guys... CSLA is one of my favorite gaming experiences. smile_o.gif

I can confirm things what Edge tried to explain. Major changes are already ongoing and even bigger changes are awaited.

Wait for the info we will provide you on this forum next week. CSLA studio team meeting will take place during this weekend. This will be some sort of kick-off meeting for the new structure & new project + coordination meeting + team building/socializing.

This will be demanding meeting, you know, guys, we have excellent beer in Czech republic. biggrin_o.gif

I was asked to prepare some pictures to show all the fans how hard we work biggrin_o.gif However, my harddrive is stuffed with obsolete graphics, all mixed up with recent screenshots and tons of data-debris. So I sipmly took two heaps of most recent pics, my apologies if you've already seen some of them tounge_o.gif

kolaz1.gif

Here are some photos of a mechanized task force searching a village (thanks to Historical Institute of Army of Czech Republic for these), you may also see Jennik's great houses positioned next to Jennik's great dusty road. There's also a picture showing barrel of astinishing Status's SVD (I was allowed to show just a barrel at the moment smile_o.gif ).

kolaz2.gif

These are just random pictures from the collection. We wish to thank ZABLOUDIL Travel Agency for photo from famous "Rusty Beach" (at the bottom of the heap). Note the cute lill' SKOT APC (by Maa & Marfy) rolling on the dusty taxiway of Lizardia Airport.

I hope you liked this, and promise to bring some more next week (new internal betas are expected to be finished).

Sweet pics! smile_o.gif I like the desert theme.

Question: The troops in the last CSLA version looked a bit on the thin side as compared to a lot of the newer bulkier troops coming out. What's happening with the gear on these guys?

Or, is that just the way czech troops were in the eighties?

Man, that's been explained a few times already in this thread. To quote Bobby from a few pages back:

Quote[/b] ]Concerning proportions of CSLA soldier model it must be said ,that model used in CSLA 2 was set to average height of 175 cm (in 1987 people used to be smaller). Take in account that Czechoslovakian peoples army used to be reservist army, therefore people in it are not so trained as in professional army. BTW. Majority of other soldier models are overated in dimensions and propotions.

In CSLA: Operation Lacerta mainly special forces will take place, so models are modified such a way to present robust trained soldier, maybe still not enough to compare with anabolics gorrilas models .

P.S. I just downloaded the mod and the updates (total of 15 hours downloading) and I'm loving it smile_o.gif.

This thread is 47 pages long. While I'm a fan, I'm not reading through 47 pages. rock.gif
