    Texturing Maps With Satellite Photos

Above mentioned picture is not Terrain Pack 3. This is map made by Coalescent. This is closer to low detail Flight Simulator terrain than VBS. Terrain Pack 3 maps do not use aerial or satelite photography as a textures due to performance reasons - huge number of textures, transition textures... Detailed terrains as As Samawah map use satelite photo as reference for texture making, choosing right color palette and mainly for placing of roads, buildings and other objets. Satelite photos (depending on quality) allows to place object 5-10 m accuracy. Using satelite photos as a texture is not possible with current engine except very very very small maps.

    CSLA 2 Update1

Dear OFP community, CSLA Development Team hereby announces withdrawal of the CSLA team from OFP scene. CSLA team members cease their activities on OFP modmaking and addons creation due to various personal reasons and participation in other projects. CSLA Team will provide limited support for released products, e.g. patches for CSLA Update 1. The newest patch for Update 1 will be released soon. We want to express our delight that we were part of such a great community, which some of us enjoyed from its very beginning. We have met many great people in the community; and it was pleasure making addons for them. We all had great times making CSLA Mod and enjoyed extraordinary support from the community. Thanks to all of you for that. Yours sincerely, CSLA Development Team MAA, Bobby, Jennik, Edge, Jirkus, Status, Vojtoo & others

This case as described above is not exeption. Vit likes to use other's work. It can be seen e.g. in case of "his" Mi-8/17 pack, which is textured by CSLA's textures without any word in readme or contacting us (at least as I know). Those textures were made by me (about 1.5 years ago), so i know them very well. Just for the full picture.

Thanks Placebo and Hellfish to calm down the offtopic disscussion. I was not present on forum during the weekend, otherwise I would ask you for help to cool down the situation or closure of the thread. We should be disscussing the upcomming Update 1 & FIA pack here. This is what concerns CSLA team works. Concerning CSLA's project generally, including Lacerta status: Lacerta project is on hold due to several reasons. a/ Some CSLA team members had left the team (completely or partially) due to whatever reasons (family, job, girlfriends....) and we are understaffed now. b/ In order to keep CSLA projects running, it was necessary to became more focused and don't split effort to multiple projects to be able to finish at least one of them. Decision was to finish Update1 and add FIA pack to it, because these themes are closely connected to original CSLA aim. Lacerta, althought promising, was only side branch booster pack for CSLA mod. c/ CSLA is and will be Warshaw pact army mod (wrong side, bad and ugly guys) d/ With the people leaving CSLA also some knowhow, possibilities, capacities and techniques are gone. Thus, Lacerta is on hold, doesn't mean that it is cancelled, but if resurrected one day, certainly will not look as was presented before (low staff, different people, different look and aim). Will be better or worse, who knows? This post is to close offtopic discussion and to give info. We respect the community and hope this statement is enough to clear the situation. At the end of this post I have to say that I always apreciated matureness of this forum and its members. Thus I was surprised by some childish posts and reactions. "Yes, under the Chistmas tree will not be expected toy. Sorry. Yours sincerely Satan Claus." I could not resist

    Mi-24 New Model

Talking about shooting down battle helicopter: it is not easy. I have read tons of material about Afghanistan war 1979-1989. It was easy to launch the rocket, but it was quite difficult to hit the chopper. Even with Stinger. There are reports from pilots about Strela/Stinger rockets passing harmlessly around. Such a rockets were useful to shoot down landing chopper, when chopper flight was slow and steady or hoovering chopper...Big fear among soviet chopper pilots were DShK heavy machine guns on top of moutains from where they shoot down on low flying helicopters, aiming at cockpit - through the plexiglas... We are discussing hit case, but first you should know, that you are trying to hit low flying target at speed 250-320 km/h. Second, we should have in mind that there are many kinds of hits...SAMs generally have warhead which explodes "near" target and main effect of such a warhead is effect of fragments. This is not lethal very much against moders attack chopper (except very very close explosions) Occasionally (during landing, high altitude or slow flights) is chopper hit directly and such a hit is usually fatal...

We also solved problems concerning armament of M-24 Hinds and its combinations. Weapon/Ammo load will be made according to discussion with ground crew members and pilots... BTW. We will have one ...ehm...specialty for you...Mi-24 Hind armed with 16 pieces 122mm Grad rockets..."Tank buster"...

All members of CSLA have met again. Complete team had an opportunity to visit military chopper base of Czech Army in Prerov. We able to take hundreds of photos, crowl through the choppers and discussed with pilots and ground crew members. Our main targets were Mi-17 Hip and Mi-24 Hind in several versions, which were fully accessible for our team. If you ask us how is it to sit on pilot/operator or in pilot/captain chair of Mi-24 Hind, we would say .... IT IS AMAZING!!! More pics on our page. Check our "in cockpit" pics.

@Keller_777: You are right, SOME BTR-50s had pintle mount LMG, but MAA is right as well. Some of BTR-50s which you showed are very old top opened vehicle of first series or not CSLA vehicle. BTR-50 in PK version has roof over cargo space and in some cases pintle mount of 7.62 mm. Actually it was used in Czechoslovakia army WITHOUT weapons. It was used as a prime mover for artilery towing as well. For APC purposes CSLA used much better OT-62B armed with 7.62 turret and 82mm recoiless gun.

I would like to raise another poll. There is a possibility to equip new Hinds with various loads of weapons in new Update1. Now we are deciding what combinations of armament should be present... We have some combinations of armament, which was really used (according to pilots we talked with), but there are more attractive combinations including AA rockets... Do you prefer purely realistic loads or some "hypothetical" loads (althought technically possible) such as. ATGMs & AA guided missiles for selfdefense...or various anti ground armament which was tested such as 122mm Katyusha like rockets... plus again AA missiles.....

I returned from holidays and I have found a lot of speculations here. It's time to correct all these speculations... 1/ It was said that we are preparing some release around Christmas. No date specified. See my post some days ago. As I said in that post, we are going to release some stuff these days and it is true. Works are finished, stuff was shortly tested during christmas weekend. 2/ BUT nobody said that it will be Lacerta expansion pack. What will be released are: CSLA 2 Update 1 pack FIA pack What will be inside of each pack (together with promo pics) will be announced today or tomorrow here and on CSLA page. Sorry for the delay, but it was caused by Santa's obsolete equipment...I think...
