killagee 0 Posted January 24, 2006 That last photo is a killer Goob:) I didnt get many photo oppertunities on the last tour. I have had to lay off the photography whilst engaged in my "real" job... Its a bad look when a band is playing and looks down into the pit to see me taking their photo. "Hey, arent we paying you to do our sound?..." But as always I carried all my camera gear around. When i get my laptop I am going to have to get a new backpack ( and maybe a new back...) My Favourite place: The 'Lost Highway' 43, between Tauramanui and Stratford. If you dont have to get there in a hurry, its worth the gravel roads. This is a unique part of NZ that i am going to go back and explore. Nikon D70 1sec f/22 ISO 1000 18-70mm DX Lens (forgot to lower ISO after the show the night before... Oops) We did a New Years gig in Lake Hawea in the south island. Got a few minutes after soundcheck to run down to the lake... Nikon D70 .5 sec F22 ISO 200 18-70 DX Lens Cokin ND8, 81b warming filter Nikon D70 .6 sec F22 ISO 200 18-70 DX Lens Cokin ND8, 81b warming filter Only had 5 minutes to race up the track to take this photo of Franz Joseph Glacier before our head of security would have driven off withoutme... D70 1/320sec F9 ISO 800 18-70mm Band at soundcheck D70 1/400 sec F4.5 ISO 800 18-70 DX Lens
killagee 0 Posted January 24, 2006 Ive been trying to get lots of crowd shots that dont really show the band and can be used as stock footage. If only I had a faster zoom lens... D70 1/100 f3.5 ISO 1250 18-70mm This geezer came and sat on the edge of my table for about an hour while i had breakfast. I dont think he was well, or maybe he was after some eggs beni... D70 1/20 f13 ISO 800 Sigma 105mm It really is absolute torture driving around this beatiful country for a living but not being able to stop for photo's, unless you can talk the other 6 tired and grumpy people in the van into stopping while you set up your tripod and sort out your filters etc... I been keepng a great notebook of places i see that i want to come back and photograph. One day I will get in my car and be gone for 3 months photographing the whole country top to bottom
GoOB 0 Posted January 24, 2006 Great photos killagee, and an even greater idea to do a photo-trip. I'm going to do one myself this summer

Messiah 2 Posted January 24, 2006 kilageee very much agreed about the lost highway - an amazing experience when i traveled the length of the south island a few years ago, and some very unique places to visit. I would reccomend seeing the Fox glacier as well, in my opinion the scenery around it is much more impressive than the franz joseph.

iNeo 0 Posted February 3, 2006 Gran Canaria First some history The island was first settled by North Africans about 2 800 years ago. In the 14th or 15th century, the Spaniards wanted to claim the island and have the natives converted to Christianity ... They refused and waged war against the Spaniards. By one of the holy rocks (pic 3), the last battle stood, and after keeping the Spaniards off for a long time, the natives had no where to run. So instead of saving their lives by converting to Christianity, they rather jumped off the cliff to their death...honourable! Cross of the enslavers. And a cloud. Mountain hiking tour guide.
