benu 1 Posted October 6, 2003 @ Oct. 06 2003,14:44)]If i had made the addon and mission i would like feedback, yes, but if people randomly shoot 1 bug here and then you end up with a gazillion page thread that noone can efficiently search in for already mentioned bugs. That is, finally, bugs are reported a gazillion times, not to mention those already mentioned in the readme and still reported over and over on this thread... I skimmed the WHOLE thread before reporting my bug to see if someone had already reported it before. Quote[/b] ]That's why my point was, WAIT A MINUTE, it's not a contest, play, test, enjoy, and after a while when you have gathered some signigicant list, post about the bugs that either are really "critical" and/or that haven't been reported yet. IMHO a broken addon dependency which makes the addon unusable in modfolders of dedicated servers is "critical". If there is going to be fix it is good to have it as soon as possible so that as few as possible people get the broken package. I don't see a point in waiting. I will compile a list with the missions, but the broken addon dependency is imho critical enough to warrant an instant report. Quote[/b] ]Plus, BAS also mentioned their bug report page to post too: BAS bug report page I reported it there TOO. But as THIS is the thread about the addon i reported it here in the first place. If BAS wanted only praise in this thread they could have named this tread appropriately and created another one for bugs. But they didn't. So how come YOU complain in their names? It didn't bother BAS, they even said to report bugs here (and also in the bug report formular), so why do YOU try to speak on their behalf and ask for something different? SelectThis 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Oi, settle down folks, constructive comments are ALWAYS welcome and there have been some very constructive posts in this thread...and some not so constrcutive ones ;) Just remember that we (at BAS) are all a bit burnt out after the stress of getting Tonal, OPFOR and JAM2 out at the same time. There are some disappointing errors that we should have picked up and for that I apologise, we have already started the process of bug fixing but can give no ETA on when. The good news is that the patch when it does arrive will be much smaller as we coded the cpp in a seperate PBO file which hopefully should enable us to fix the main coding issues without forcing people to DL another large file. In the mean time, please overlook the errors and enjoy the island and units. Re: dependency errors, maybe try moving some files to the ofp/addons folder (like JAM). I have JAM in there with the toanl&tangos in a mod folder with no problems. SelectThis
sgt.elias31 0 Posted October 6, 2003 so i d/led 1.92 twice. Its weird though its taking like .00001 seconds to install and im still getting the error. 1.92 creates it's own EXE, seperate to 1.91, so your old desktop shortcuts won't work. make sure you double click the new EXE in the OFP folder. ahhh ok that worked. Thanks alot.
ZIKAN 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Many thanks to everyone at BAS for a great add on. Your attention to detail is admired and appreciated. I liked everything about this map and OPFOR , I particualry liked the music and sounds included, they gave the missions a real African flavour and atmosphere. It took my 56k modem just over 8 hours to download it, but the poor little bugger somehow managed it! in any case it was well worth it Cheers
blackdog~ 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Thats the best thing about BAS usually the frickin minute details that they go to lengths at making perfect , its just too damn awesome. One more thing though Nagual youve written that the population is muslim in Tonal (somalia anyone) so what about some mosques in the area? Â Hehe I found this silly when I saw a catholic church in an African island. I would guess that a lot of catholics would be persecuted in some third world countries.. freddern 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Again great BAS. One question tough. When i try to use thoose mist scripts I get the message "script \bas_o\s\mist.sqs not found. I read the readme but maby someone can explain better? maby.....

Hehe I found this silly when I saw a catholic church in an African island. I would guess that a lot of catholics would be persecuted in some third world countries.. Why on earth would you think that? In Africa more than half of the population are Christians (split up between the many different types of churches). Remeber Islam is also not a native religion of Africa and infact has much less followers than Christianity in Africa, so a Catholic church is not so out of place. Total population of Africa: 700 million Christian: 350 million Catholic: 116 million -- 10,000-plus parishes, 75,000 mission stations
joltan 0 Posted October 6, 2003 One question tough. When i try to use thoose mist scripts I get the message "script \bas_o\s\mist.sqs not found. This is a typo in the readme - the script is actually called "bas_mist.sqs", not just "mist.sqs". Just look at the examples below that one and you will see the right syntax. Taconic 0 Posted October 6, 2003 I've been waiting for this for quite a while. I was surprised to sit down and find it available last night. My first impression of it was... well, "stellar" would be a good word, I guess. I found that big city up north in the editor and explored it a bit. I was nearly giddy. I didn't find Tatu until this morning. That was quite impressive. The jungles are great as well. The entire island has this sloppy, humid, wet, dirty third world feel. You can almost smell the garbage in the slums. Very impressive work, guys. And Ebud and whoever else did the textures on the OPFOR vehicles... My God. They're beautiful. That doesn't look like camo. It looks like artwork. Those represent the best texture work I've seen on any OFP vehicle to date. Really uber-impressive stuff. And does that T-55 lay down a smoke screen? I figured I'd mention a couple of bugs because your site is seemingly inaccessible at the moment. #1: The M-79 JAM guy fires those marker rounds as weapons once he's out of grenades and buckshot. This kind of took me by surprise and resulted in me getting killed when I couldn't see where the enemy was coming from because the guy had blanketed the area with smoke. #2: Errors in campaign missions. The "area" CAS option doesn't work. The debugger returns: "_Su25 distance GetPos _pos < |#| 500 || !alive vehicle _Su25": error GetPos: Type array, expected object Same with the Mi-24. On both missions 2 and 3.

Yes, all armoured vehicles will lay down smoke once engaged with a rocket/cannon. As for the JAM M79 thing, i think thats more of a feature than a bug. Nagual 0 Posted October 6, 2003 When I'm extracting the * BAS_Isle_Anim folder to my /res/addons, the folder wont go. Â And the files with the same name can't be placed there, or they override one another. Â How do I fix this? Â Make a sperate folder for each one and drag them seperately? I missed this earlier. For the anim you need to extract the pathnames/foldernames, then each of the files will be in its own folder.
MLF 0 Posted October 6, 2003 great work bas, love it from what i have seen, alas cannot download it though as i have no home net access
Nagual 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Ok Nagualwhats this ? Â I shit my pants when i saw this i thought it was one of my mates head ... imagine the rebels hunt you down and do this! Are there easter eggs like this on the isle? http://www.tacticalblunder.com/~uploads/Acecombat/ripped.jpg Hehe, thats a little present Ebud made for me one day ;) There are some other easter eggs around, some have been mentioned in this thread already. The 2 of the hardest to find can only be seen well from the air.

m21man 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Quote[/b] ]No prizes for guessing where the last Insurgency mission will take place. I don't know I think it could be three things: 1. Fight an enormous battle in Tatu, with Blackhawks, Little Birds, and friendly Mi-24s blasting everything in sight while Deltas/Rangers assist government troops in fighting off an enormous rebel force that's charging the city. 2. Find and kill all the rebel soldiers at their base at Aj31. A massive jungle battle extravaganza! 3. Blow up the Scuds. Basically, the overused ending where the player saves the country/world (I hear echoes of CWC and Resistance here ).

Yep, and also in the editor under Game Logic units is a Mist Logic, a premade long-life mist point (about .7 delay i think). The island logics are something that will be done properly in the next version, the Tonal Logic thats in there now is just random weather. All bugs up to here have been noted, most mission ones and rebel #4 CTD have been fixed so far. edit And as far as the end of the Insurgency, it will be a long war before the end. Part 2 should be alot better. Just think, you dont really know much about who the scout is, or where he comes from ;)
TeRp 1 Posted October 6, 2003 Just want to thank BAS for this fantastic island. The editor lags, but in game I encounter no problems. But alike, playing on this island is far enough for me The OPFOR Pack is of the same quality and rocks!
dinger 1 Posted October 6, 2003 Churches sure, but even so, with such a large population of muslims on the island, there should be mosques. They don't have to be anything fancy. A shack with a stubby little tower and a sheet-metal cone on top will suffice. Put some sandals outside.

Acecombat 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Hhe Evis dude i thought it read in the History of Tonal that majority living there were muslims ....?? Anyway its nice with or without it i was just being spoiled because i wanted that somalia effect And Evis Muslims form a good piece of the african population , nearly whole of North africa is muslim , even though they might not follow Islam properly ..sorry Offtopic. @Bonko man i love the G-3 too i was playing on Blackdogs server alone on the East side and killed 6 players nearly 3 times each with it including BD... eisa01 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Wonderful Pack! I really like how you made a realistic background for the island! Even works OK (depending on mission) on my 733 mhz  PC! Great job
ozanzac 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Hey hey  It took 9 hourd to download, And I've been playing with it ever since. Excellent work, no no, EXTRAORDINARY!!!!!! work. Don't know if this was one of your aims, but driving along that narrow path that goes in an east west direction on the western side of the island in the dead of night sent shivers up my spine. Then to top it off, I find one of those severed head 'signs'.   Made me think if a witchdoctor came out of the jungle now, I'd jump through the roof in freight.  OMFG, this is without doubt, The Must Have Addon Of the year Thanks BAS. This is one bitchin peice of work. Congratulations to you all. You should consider changing your name to APBAS: AbsolutlyPharkinBallisticAddonStudio. *Jumps around in a cicle with a big grin on his face saying in big kevs cleaning products voice: I'm excited! (non-aussies.......don't ask)!* Ooooh, the next LAN I host will be an OFP only event.  *Starts watchin BHD for inspiration on how to kill raging mobs of african militia!*

The island is not just to represent tonal, it is to be used by anyone for any african setting, as i showed earlier the majority of Africa is Christian and so a Christian/Catholic church is not so out of place. The history is there to give people a basis for missions set on Tonal, but the island could easily double as any of the other african countries.
