Bas blackhawks

Yeah they just 'float down' like a sycamore~tree seed, albeit rather heavily! biggrin_o.gif ...

According to the book 'BlackHawk Down', which was suppossedly cobbled together from factual reports/eyesightings (as oppossed to the walt disney film).A few BH's took RPG hits and still managed stay airborne, even to fly back to base...

RPG have armor penetrating heads.

They are like a spear when they hit armor.

It makes a small hole.

Maybe they were hit at places where not so much Electronic or hydraulics where.

BTW you plan to give the LB downwash effects?

i blow them up

i use the bis rpg

i usually get an empty chopper and shoot at it

to test it out

I had the experience that addons act differently if they fly or if they are standing on the ground. The best example was the UFO addon someone made a while ago. Almost undestroyable when it was in the air, but quite easy to destroy when it was on the ground...

I test it out the way 4 IN 1 did

p.s.1 thing i really like the DKM Mi28 is that if u crash the

chopper it will turn into a crash site, and i think thats great feature

(bad thing is that most of the time u cant walk away from the crash site)

We are very happy with the current crash setup.

I felt and still feel that swapping out the model is unrealistic and can cause anomalies which will produce a CTD.

Even if model swapping were guaranteed bug free, then I would STILL opt for the standard BIS crash model, there is just no way it is worth while producing 4 x say even 3 types of crash models, which you would need to allow for different impact speeds etc.

Also, from our military contacts, then using a gun on a crashed helo is highly unlikely, and definetly NOT possible in the case of the M134 minigun.

Maybe BIS will improve the crash models for OFP2

I know this is a bit off topic, but just responding to the comments above...

I can't comment on the intricacies of the 160th's models of H-60s, but as a H-60 pilot (Seahawk vice Blackhawk), I can comment on the basics of the common airframe. As far as the survivability of the airframe, it's a rugged aircraft, but by no means "armored." The specops birds have some extra armor added for the pilots, and probably some extra stuff around the airframe (again, I haven't flown a K or L), but that's about it.

For those who read the book BHD, you may recall that the RPGs were not actually hitting the aircraft. RPGs are a contact weapon, but the Skinnies had modified them to detonate after a set period of time, which hopefully (for them) would be where a helo might be. As a result, one -60 was "hit" by shrapnel in the tranny oil cooler, which is on top of the aircraft. That one made it to the local port facility until it just gave out (I think this case is what BonnieRat was talking about). I think there was one other that was a loss, but didn't crash in a hot area. Theoretically, the -60's tranny can go 30 minutes w/out oil and the tail rotor can go 60 minutes, but I'm hear to tell you that no one has experienced it lasting that long on the Seahawk side.

The other two that crashed (the famous ones) were mostly brought down due to the blast affecting the tailrotor or the tail pylon, not necessarily from actual penetration of the warhead.

I love that book, and the movie, from the helo side of things, is probably the best I've ever seen. There's been comments about Tears of the Sun on this thread...ugh. Our squadron was the ones you see in the movie, and that movie is horrible. FYI, for those of you that saw the season finale of ER, those villages you see in TOTS is the same village that's in ER...right here in Oahu.

Regardless of all of this, OFP is not a helo sim. That said, you guys at BAS did an amazing job. Thank you so much for providing a great (and FREE!) product, and keep up the great work.

Thanks for the comments Gatordev.....the good news is that I think BIS has better physics planned for helos in OFP2....so we may see a quasi helo sim in the next version yet.

I know that Suma is a big flight sim fan :-)

was the bit wen the militia caught up with them

the raid on the town was pretty good i reckon

and wasnt that movie the first movie where the actual us navy got involved

Yeah, I enjoyed the clearing of the town in the movie. Pretty well done. One of the big things I laugh at is when Tom Skerrit is out on the flight deck of the carrier trying to talk on a SatPhone while planes land next to him. Why doesn't he just go into one of the comm centers on the ship?

As for the Navy getting involved...there was this small movie during the summer of '86...you might have heard of it. I think it was called something like "Top..." something. wink_o.gif

There's actually been lots of Navy support of movies. Jurassic Park III was another movie that had our squadron at the end as well.

But we're getting distracted...Nice PaveHawks!

Slightly OT here, but I think OFP1/2 could very easily be a definative tank and/or helo simulator. 90% of what you'd need is already there.

OFP is already one of the best tank sims in my opinion. The complicated systems are not modeled, but all pure tank simulations use infantry in a less then mediocre way. And with OFP2 I think and hope we will see even more realistic tanks and aircraft smile_o.gif

Ooops now back on topic biggrin_o.gif

Me...a SEAL? Um, no. I don't think I'd ever have the discipline. I'm a -60B pilot.

I think he meant actual navy personnel, not actors...Oh and Top Gun was crap...Flight of the Intruder is a way better book/movie tounge_o.gif

Anyhoo, really looking forward to that Pavehawk smile_o.gif

temp fix: let cargo teamleader perform the action

*DAP hellfires/ guns cant lock on laser targets (SP and MP game)

JAM

*jam pk/ m60 mgunners (non- hd version) shoot a bit too high from distances >150m ... bullets fly by over head

Thanks for pointing out the Bugs for us Pang, as we speak, I am endeavouring to update the bug page, with an area where all the submitted bugs can be viewed (to prevent duplication of bug reports as much as possible) Thats taking a bit of time to get sorted, but if you can bear with us, we'll get it sorted, and then we'll get the helicopters updated biggrin_o.gif

I'm making an MP map and I don't want the blackhawks to have ANY scripting on them at ANY point in the map. They must respawn too...

How do I do this?
