Also a little question;

In one of the early pictures, the Vulcan had a pack on the side that was in 6 colour desert. I hope you change this to 3-colour desert. It's a little detail, but it is the little details that make the difference.

Yes, all the 6 colour desert camo will be removed from the vehicles.

However as the vulcan is no longer in service, it will retain the option to use the 6 colour camo for "period" uses (as will some of the other vehicles, such as the "bonus" M1 the M1A1 and the M1A1HA for example), such as the first Gulf War.

And the option of either tri-colour or plain tan for less realistic "current" uses such as AAA support in a modern campaign.

[Edit] It actually makes sense now... crazy_o.gif [/Edit]

*sigh* have you read the edit of my previous post. The army air intake is like the "cap" of the extended one placed over that black hole on the bonnet.

nice picture, though.

ah yes. Good point on the M163. But ofcourse I (indeed) meant the 6 colour packs that may be present on the newer vehicles. Good to hear you changed that.

where did the snorkel and exhaust go by teh way?

They're still there... they're just invisible  wink_o.gif

/me hints at hidden selections...

The Army very very very rarely use the snorkel/exhaust, but it is almost allways sported on USMC variants... make of that what you will  wink_o.gif  smile_o.gif

yeah well in the desert biggrin_o.gif

Ok it may be a little late for the uh-60, but i just had an idea. While playing socom on psII I noticed on one of the intro's they had a zodiac rigged under a black hawk via a net. Could be a cool feature where you could hover over a river and drop the raft. Something to think about for the hh-60 helo biggrin_o.gif

actually in the desert both army and marine corps seem to use the etended air intake, since on the extended one a special sand filter can be fitted.

Got some pics? If you've got the proof, we can (possibly) implement it on the model... (the extended snorkel on Army version would be a deinate - if you got the proof)

yes avon, but is that an army or USMC HMMWV??

I have a book with a lot of photos showing both army and Marine HMMWV's with the extended ait intake. Quite a few had the sand filter installed. However, looking at newer pictures I can't see the sand filter anywhere (perhaps they decided it was not needed) and the army HMMWV's all used the normal air intake during GWII. The only (recent) photos of army HMMWV's having the extended air intake, are uparmoured versions. These seem to have the snorkel installed quite often.

The only countries that seem to use the sand filter allways are Egypt, morroco and Turkey. I think I jumped to a conclusion a bit too quickly, sorry Deadmeat.

One other thing;

will you add smoke dischargers on your HMMWV's??

The 101st airboren seems to use them a lot.

As for proof (so I won't look like a complete idiot this time);

Back to the topic of the desert cammo color (sorry, been away for a few days). As TJ said we went around and around and around on what color was the best (4 rounds of completely different textures I made... you figure out the time spent). What we decided on was what you saw in the version that is out now, and we did have lots of reference material to base that decision on. At the time we did not have those desert vehicles, or even think about trying to match them up to any other color.... just photos, so I just finished them with a shade we all agreed (most all of BAS) on even though it did not totally match the ground textures or any desert vehicles.

Now the new versions have been done for a long time, waiting for weapons/jam/etc.... about 3-4 months or so. in that time I lost every PSD I had to a hd failure, so recreating those psd templates is taking a long time. Even if I wanted to adjust the color of the desert bdu's I couldn't do so easily. For the next units such as another seal team, I'll have the new clothing psd templates so I can make the cammo fit in between the desert vehicle color and Nag's island ground textures that he and I have done.

So for this upcoming release of the Rangers and Delta, the textures have all been completly redone, but the shade of the desert cammo is the same, as at the time I had more reference for that color (as the textures were all made before there were large amounts of desert combat pics floating around), and still do if anyone would like our reasoning backed up.

That's ok than ebud. But do you plan to to update the rangers and delta to a new shade in a second update, by making new psd's (whatever that is)?

I haven't seen the video of the island (56k'er), but I believe the area is a mixed envirement, right? If so we can use the desert vehicles and the woodland units. Will look a bit strange, but it can be done.

I think the entire OFP Community completly understands.. no since in you guys doing all that work on the version before and not releasing it... we can play with the ones you have done now.. and you 3 or 4 months. thats the time frame for which the rangers will be ready for release ?!?!?! ehh i was hoping shortly after J.A.M. was completed... which i assumed it almost was.

If I'm correct JAM is in it's final stages (and this time really FINAL stages). There's is just some work to be done on the sounds (balancing, ect). At least that's my opinion on the JAM sounds.

No, he means the new version has been finished for about 4 months. And yes, JAM is almost finished.

Landwarrior, I think that means that they are done, but have been waiting for JAM for three or four months.

one thing I noticed on the M2 machine gun on your vehicles;

M1A2_6.jpg

As you can see the two handgrips seem to be floating in the air. They should be attached to the gun at two point; at the top and bottum of the grips;

m2-mg-large.jpgIt could be that those two things holding the grips are just not visible in the external view (and only in pilot view). I hope you make em a bit more visible. Weapon freaks will immediately notice this.

I think you guys are yet again judging something on a strangely angled and relatively low resolution screenshot, just wait and see, everything will be as it should be...
