noubernou 77 Posted November 17, 2012 Yea, I decided to hold off any purchasing decisions for my own licenses till 2.0 comes out... Its painful after having used A2 for so long (and I never enjoyed A1 either, basically skipped it and played OFP instead :p).

bogart 10 Posted December 4, 2012 I'm a bit disappointed, Where is the SuperAI they claimed? In my opinion this is the v1.60 with the ArmA 2 graphic engine...nothing more
NZXSHADOWS 0 Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) I'm a bit disappointed, Where is the SuperAI they claimed? In my opinion this is the v1.60 with the ArmA 2 graphic engine...nothing more Can you show me where someone mentioned this SuperAI you speak of? Unless your talking about the 3rd party plugins/tools from Xaitment. Then I dont know what your referring to. VBS2 v2.0 press release VBS2 v2.0 is VBS2 v1.x ported to the Real Virtuality 3 game engine, which is the game engine behind the ArmA2 and ArmA2: Operation Arrowhead computer games. From a user interface perspective it is exactly the same as VBS2 v1.x, however there are many key improvements both as a result of the newer game engine as well as new items funded and driven by military customers. Oh yeah The new ITEC Video Trailer is out. KldmZ6rSnHc Edited December 4, 2012 by NZXSHADOWS

I'm talking about the micro AI improvement, I've tought it was like ArmA 2 AI but it's still unplayable as 1.60 and before
NZXSHADOWS 0 Posted December 4, 2012 This what Ive read. I haven't tried the AI. So I cant really say anything. But I will say if its not implemented in now then it might come in later on in future updates? What does VBS2 v2.0 provide in terms of AI?VBS2 v2.0 includes micro-AI, which means that the AI path-planning grid is much smaller so the AI is smarter. The many AI enhancements made in the ArmA2 computer games will all be available in VBS2 v2.0 VBS2 2.0 Development Network thingy http://products.bisimulations.com/sites/default/files/handouts/BISIM_IITSEC_VBSDN_lowres.pdf
noubernou 77 Posted December 4, 2012 Yea, AI do this in A2 already, but is pretty random and depends heavily on the load the game is experiencing. The thing to remember is that a lot of things in VBS2 and Arma still share almost the exact same code base, so bugs in one will probably be in the other. Hopefully we see the Xaitment stuff in VBS2 soon.
ardvarkdb 104 Posted December 5, 2012 So does 2.0 have all the content from Arma 2 / Arrowhead like shown in the trailers? I know that mods for Arma 2 don't work yet, but does any of the default Arma 2 content (Islands, units, vehicles, etc.) work? I haven't been able to finish my download yet. Nope, no ArmA 2 content included (yet). And even worse: No "old" Editor included either, only the 3D one which - for me - sucks pretty much as I'm not able to port the old missions. Must say that I'm a bit disappointed after all the trailers shown recently.
noubernou 77 Posted December 5, 2012 So there is no OME anymore? I'll admit it, I have never taken to the RTE, and using the OME made life somewhat easier.
NZXSHADOWS 0 Posted December 5, 2012 Must say that I'm a bit disappointed after all the trailers shown recently. Last years IITSEC actually showed some promising gameplay of what was thought to be the VBS2 2.0. starts at 0:52. hNDGQgvbtJQ?t
spooky lynx 73 Posted December 5, 2012 I've found VBS 2 NATO free version, and it is said that Other personnel (for example those of NATO partner countries) may be granted usage rights by Bohemia Interactive Simulations on a case-by-case basis. What is case-by-case and is it possible to obtain a copy for me?
papanowel 120 Posted December 5, 2012 There are a lot of small annoying bugs in this release, I hope that will be fixed soon.
W0lle 1050 Posted December 5, 2012 So there is no OME anymore?I'll admit it, I have never taken to the RTE, and using the OME made life somewhat easier. No mate, the OME is still there. What is missing now is the old editor we all know from ArmA. @Spooky Lynx I guess sending an email to BISim gets you quicker and more detailed answer than we can give you here. :)
scrim 1 Posted December 5, 2012 Wouldn't hope much, partly because the impression that I've got is that they're trying to prevent VBS2 from spreading to certain countries, like China, Syria, Russia, etc.

dslyecxi 23 Posted December 6, 2012 Thats the OME. :p Original Mission Editor. Nope! OME has always stood for "Offline Mission Editor", while RTE is "Real-Time Editor".
noubernou 77 Posted December 6, 2012 Really, haha I never saw it referred to anything anywhere, just assumed it was Original. What does the OME consist of now if not the editor from OFP/Arma1?
dslyecxi 23 Posted December 6, 2012 Really, haha I never saw it referred to anything anywhere, just assumed it was Original. What does the OME consist of now if not the editor from OFP/Arma1? The OME is the same as it's always been. The "old" editor is something else entirely, and I'm not quite sure what reason anyone would have for using that in VBS2 considering how great of a tool the OME is in comparison. Vandrel 10 Posted December 6, 2012 The OME is the same as it's always been. The "old" editor is something else entirely, and I'm not quite sure what reason anyone would have for using that in VBS2 considering how great of a tool the OME is in comparison. I was actually thinking the same thing. For the years I've done exercise planning and 'real' military training events with VBS2 before working for BI, I couldn't imagine having to use the klunky old editor that doesn't even allow for the use of layers, overlays, 3D camera, etc. I understand people get used to a specific way of doing things but the old editor is just evil in comparison to the VBS2 editor (OME/RTE). And I'm not just saying this because I work for BI, I would have said the same thing had you asked me years ago when I was a contractor for the Marine Corps or when I was using VBS2 on active duty. I started with VBS1 back in the day after playing OFP in '01 and can't imagine rolling back the clock to do scenario design like that ever again. Everything had it's purpose then, technology has progressed since. As for everyone who's seeing bugs, please be sure to post them on the BISim forums but primarily send them over to use on support@bisimulations.com so we can address them and get them fixed.
