Gotta say it really, really sucks that you abandoned your auto-updater, because now I have to completely redownload the entire mod again. Goodbye eight to ten hours of getting anything done online. :/

Did you change something in targeting system? I can't lock on ground targets with AT missiles anymore in SU-25. With "R" it does nothing, with "T" - sometimes lock happens, but i don't understand pattern in which case this happens. Any help?

you are not paying the server fees, are you now?



I have created and i am seeding these torrent files until friday at most. I am on a 500/100MB connection so initial speed is not an issue.


That said, do seed further please

I'm pretty sure that practically all of the .pbo files have had some update or another in the past 6 months anyway.

And Steam's servers are MILES faster than the host we had for wget. So you'll probably save time.

And that has what to do with the fact that for those with really bad internet service providers, this is a huge blow to them, and an issue for server owners as wells. I'd rather not log into my steam account on a third party server just to update the mod.


Okay, yeah, it cost money in server fees to upload it onto their own server. Why not upload it to a Torrent site where  they don't have to pay server fees?

We said it before, wget was cool and worked when there wasn't 3000 ppl downloading at the same time, but we were pushing way way way above the 50TB bandwidth each month. 


Again, we provide the content, we hunt down all the people and get everyone's permission just in order to upload these on Steam Workshop (and be 100% legal in terms of SW agreement).

I have also provided you with an alternative to SW, which i am personally seeding off my own HDD until friday...(i have no bandwidth limitation and i am just bellow the 1000MBs connection money can buy).


now, we are still not doing enough for you? I cannot help out anyone with their providers, be it shitty, limited or otherwise. Why does some people expect us to do everything? Do you want me to upload and setup the mod for you as well on your own server? Do you feed yourself or does someone else spoon feeds you as well.

I don't know. By "we", are you saying you're an actual member of the RHS mod team? Nothing really stands out, that I can see, saying you are. You may be well known to the community, but for someone like me who does not frequent the Bohemia forums, you're just another user with the RHS logo in your signature.


If you are a member of the RHS team and you're uploading torrent files for those of us who would like it, then thank you. But if you're a random user uploading torrent files and saying it's RHS, I'll pass because I'm a vary cautious person when it comes to downloading torrents.

Because it doesn't work the way you are imagining it. The only "blow" to anyone is this time, because from then on, steam workshop acts as RHS updater, except faster and cheaper.


RHS updater:
Pros: Partial downloads (good if you've got shitty internet plan)
Cons: Slow, high cost to RHS

Pros: Fast if there are good seeders, no cost to RHS
Cons: No partial downloads (bad if you've got shitty internet plan), slow if there are bad seeders

Partial downloads (good if you've got shitty internet plan), fast, no cost to RHS

GREF, not to mention a current chunk of AFRF and USAF factions, is not currently ALiVE compatible. I'm thinking someone may be working on a GREF compatibility mod though. Come by here and look through the ORBAT sticky.

RHS updater:
Pros: Partial downloads

Actually, for Torrents, full downloads aren't a con. As long as the mod retains the same structure, you can point a torrent at an already existing directory, and it will scan that directory and download/replace anything that has changed. Same as workshop, same as RHS updater. Partial downloads are entirely possible.


Edit: At least, it has always worked like this for me with uTorrent. Maybe other torrent clients are different.
