X-Cam 1.0 for Arma 3 released

Recommended Posts

Hi Silola,

I am having a very strange issue , and need some advice please !

I have place a about 20K Trees, bushes & rocks and imported them -  then when I look in BD  a lot of them are upside down   -  then if i click or move them they change and  automatically correct there position?

I only noticed when i was in-game and come across a rock upside down  ( never happened before on all my other imports)

Example ..

Before i click

xcan1.jpg

After i just click on it

xcam2.jpg

Any idea's what's happening as this is on my existing layer now  ( not a temp layer) as did not notice the issue until now so no idea how to fix it :(

Wow ... what's that? Never seen before :o

So we have imported over 3 million objects so far, and never had a problem like this.

Realy don't know what's going wrong with your project.

How do you import your objects? Drag'n Drop, relativ height, absolut height?

How many object layers you have saved within TB?

Is there a different between relativ and absolut height import?

How it works with other objects like trees or small stones?

Very strange :(

Silola

SORRY for late response :(

Important hint:

Since the latest Arma 3 update there is a new limitation

and I think it has something to do with the "MissionNameSpace".

Please do not save more than 10.000 objects within a single X-Cam project,

otherwise you will get an empty export file.

What can i do if i have files with more than 10.000??

Thanks

Use the second TB export methode. This methode creates for each object type a single export file.

i had the same issue with a project over 10k I broke the project up into smaller pieces and saved them as prefabs, This got me under 10K object count, I then exported the original project and binarized it, then added the prefabs back and exported those. worked fine. If you use the second TB method on a large project you will have hundreds of files to import depending on the amount of different types of objects used in the project.

... you will have hundreds of files to import ...

Yes, but possible with one single step ;)

please explain :)

You can select multiple files within the file selection dialog for import ;)

Select the first one, press and hold down [shift], select the last one, press [Open] ... that's all.

Hi Silola!

Im having great time utilizing your addon and I really appreciate the time you put into making all of this work.

Is it possible, to make the xcam_EU compatible with zeus, so that all the objects you defined are also visible in zeus, not xcam/editor only? I have always been looking for a way to access all the hidden objects from the zeus, but Im having issues figuring it out. Your config.cpp looked like zeus compatible, but nothing appears in zeus. I hope you can help me with this, cheers!

Adi.

Any plans to implement a "Multiplayer" option so several map makers could edit a map at the same time?

If that makes sense?

How about exporting to to terrain builder, does it save on the host pc or the clients?

Each export file is saved on client only.

Hey everybody, I just tried the first steps of the installation process while following along with the install tutorial video. Everything was going fine until I did the initial loading of the XCam libraries. It was during this process that my PC froze for about 10 seconds then shut off completely. I started my PC and booted XCam back up in A3 and it seems to be working. Is this something that could cause a problem down the road for me? Should I attempt to reinstall without a crash before continuing with my work?

Delete the content of the following folder : \Arma 3\@inidbi\db\xCam\Library_Obj

and then restart X-Cam in order to create the whole object library again.

Hello Silola, are you going to be doing an update that allows access to all of the objects in CUP terrains?

Hello Silola, are you going to be doing an update that allows access to all of the objects in CUP terrains?

Shouldnt this be possible already? Just rebuild the lib with CUP TP enabled. (havnt tested, but thats my understanding how things work :D)

Unfortunately that does not work for me. Deleted the whole Library and rebuilt it. No some of the CUP-Objects show up in different sections.
But the main part of the objects (for exemple most of the houses do not appear) are missing and do not show up no matter how often i rebuild and reload the library...

Anyone found a solution for this problem so far?

@cosmo - do you have the Arma2 object libraries and .p3ds loaded onto your P: drive?

If the object .p3ds are not there, they will not work properly in X-Cam (at least that is my experience with the pre-Arma3 objects in the All in Arma pack, and I assume there is no real difference with CUP).  I dePBOed the .p3ds from the AIATP and added them in their native folder structure to a Ca folder on my Arma3 Tools folder (which is then carried into your P: drive when you activate DevP.

I dont mean the library in the terrainbuilder. What i am talking about is the XCam-Library you use ingame when in the XCam-Editor on the Arma-Map. This one does not load the CUP-Objects also the Mod ist downloaded from Steam an activeted correctly.

All the objects i used to have in the former CUP-Terrain-Version are no missing and i dont have any idea how to load them into XCam. Drive P has nothing to do with that on this point, that comes afterwards when the objects are imported to the terrainbuilder.

Edit: This is what i mean:

In the old Version of CUP there have been different groups, like A2_Trees; A2_Bushes etc no there is only "Objects" and some other but they dont include all the A1 and A2 Buildings like these ones:
