Instructions:

Place addons and Optional folders for hotfix(s) into the speed of sound pure folder and allow addons to overwrite and replace.

If your a server host you will also need the speed of sound pure server key, although this mod is Client side only, no requirment for the server to run the mod as well.

Running from command line I recommend :

-nopause -nologs -nosplash -mod=@CBA_A3;@SpeedOfSound_Pure



Recommended Audio Settings In Windows (Settings I developed with)

The above settings can be applied to all audio devices where possible, using a setting of :

48000Hz

What is speed of sound pure?

Speed of Sound Pure is how I envision the sound in arma 3 should be. Its been one very long evolving project that started back in Arma2 and has grown in size and scope reaching what I feel is the penultimate version of Speed of Sound.



How often will it be updated?

Hopefully not all that often, there will still be bugs no doubt somewhere but I think I've squashed the major ones but running -nologs on clients and servers ensures smoother play incase errors do crop up.

Is there an issue with this addon and the Helicopter DLC? The new helicopters do not appear when enabled - verified that disabling this makes them return.

Make sure you didn't uncheck the Helicopter DLC in the expansions menu of ArmA 3!

He's right though. The Helicopter DLC seems not to be present, although it appears to be loaded.

Congrats on the release! I've been enjoying SoS for a while, and glad to see a definitive version.

Now on with the (possible) bugs.

Have you tested this on a 5.1 setup?

Sounds very strange on my system like a part of the sound picture is missing?

Thanks.. yeah, it's loaded, shows the icon on the main screen and all. Any helicopters loaded into the scenario, however, are not there, and when I go into Zeus, they are just listed as 'Helicopter' and you cannot spawn them.

Dang, okay a couple things.

#1 - A-164 gun runs - the sound effects for the rounds impacting are way later than the sound for the gun firing, even though the rounds impact way before you would be able to hear the gun.

#2 - DLC Helicopters (both NATO and CSAT) vanish from the game including their cargo containers with the mod active. This problem was fixed when I removed speedofsound_pure_ch47.pbo and speedofsound_pure_ch47.pbo.SOSP.bisign

#3 - Gun sounds are pretty low volume. I increased my sound effects to maximum and they are still pretty weak sounding compared to vanilla.

#4 - Tracers from the sound mod take over tracers from other mods like Blast Core Tracers, or SOSP causes them not to work, not sure.

#5 .50 cal machine guns sound like pea shooters compared to their real life counterparts.

Really digging it. My only complaint is the buzzing of flies around a dead body. It's pretty damn loud and kind of breaks the immersion. The sound starts immediately after you drop someone which is really silly imo. Mod would be better off without it. Other than that, I really love everything.

So, I guess I know what's "going on".

There no missing sound files or whatsoever, BigPickle made it sound like that on purpose.

It seems as if the mod is meant to sound alright in many distances.

I'm no fan of the concept since the soundscape definitely lacks "punch" in close ranges but well, BigPickle pointed out that this is how he

envisions the soundscape to be. :)

But I gotta say, I expected it to feature more stuff. Where did all your scripts from the previous versions go, dude?
