vilas 477 Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) u ask what tank is on video? side (left looking fron driver perspective, right looking from external viewer) exhaust proove it is T72 family (for sure not T64 or T80 family cause they have exhaust in rear), it is rather not T90 because T90 has more characteristic equipment on turret (generally T90 is T72 with more ERA armor, 2 "eyes" on sides of canon, new electronic, new engine) , i would bet it is T72, but image is not sufficient to say what variant, but it looks like with ERA on turret, but hard to say exactly Edited August 28, 2014 by vilas

So even in the case of an official invasion Russia would mainly use the T-72 anyway. Ukraine doesn't use T-72 tanks anymore.
ProfTournesol 956 Posted August 28, 2014 (BBC Live fee) A senior MP from Russian President Vladimir Putin's United Russia party, Vyacheslav Nikonov, tells the BBC that the Ukrainian government has fabricated troop numbers to explain why it is being defeated by rebels."I can tell you for sure, there are no official Russian troops there in Ukraine," he says. "The problem is that really for Kiev it's very hard to explain why the great Ukrainian army is being defeated now by local coal miners and a few volunteers, who are quite international, yes." beastcat 14 Posted August 28, 2014 (BBC Live fee) I've never seen coal miners so well equipped... Every coal miner who takes his job seriously has at least one T-72 tank and multiple AK-74Ms with enough ammo to fight for at least a year. Oh yeah and russian uniforms and passports as well of course, but they are not actually russian.

Separatists are attacking from Crimea as well now.
Tonci87 163 Posted August 28, 2014 So we have a bunch of coal miners who seem to earn enough to buy themselves all kinds of fancy stuff and a few thousand Russian service men who decided to spend their vacation in a combat area, so of course they had to take their Arms, their vehicels and all their buddies with them. mistyronin 1181 Posted August 28, 2014 Ukrainian president: Russian troops have crossed borderPetro Poroshenko cancels planned trip abroad as he in effect accuses Russia of invasion Russian troops have been acting in Ukraine for a while. They even captured soldiers that were just "disoriented", journalist saw Russian armored columns that "were only guarding the border", etc. The only difference is that Putin seem to lately care less about being discrete, and has started an obvious offensive where it's technically impossible that pro-Russians could reach nor had a logistic chain. In fact the Russian Armed Forces have been occupying Crimea even before the Eastern Ukraine Crisis. I go by the media and there were reports today that "The Russian Invasion Begins" or "Ukraine accuses Russia of Invasion", the president of the ukraine did use the word invasion aswell. Iam sure that did startle many readers, but in the meanwhile it changed and the accusations got canceled, therefore I did post the article. why didnt they colour in Kalingrad? ...good eyes. mistyronin 1181 Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) Yup, it has been quite a trending topic since the Russians invaded Crimea. The Finnish Army HQ, the former PM and the Minister of Defense ( who is Finnish-Swedish ), think that joining the NATO would be the logical step to take. And an important part of the population is changing their point of view on the subject, and also favor now joining the Alliance. For example this weekend there will be naval military exercises in my city with a lot of NATO navy ships, including US ones. ( The Guardian ) Finland and Sweden to strengthen ties with Nato It's funny that in their intent to gain terrain inside Europe, the Russia Federation is making all its European neighbors to join the NATO, and ask NATO bases close to the Russian border ( with the exception of Belarus that is a puppet country managed from the Kremlin, as Ukraine used to be ). ( Yle, Finnish Public Media, in English ) Russian politico: Finland and Sweden no longer NATO-neutral countries According to the head of the Duma’s foreign affairs committee, Finland’s and Sweden’s participation in the NATO agreement would mean giving up their neutrality.“Joining the military union would be the natural next step,†Pushkov said in an interview with the paper Izvestia, Itar-Tass reported. Obviously that is worsened by the recurrent Russian incursions in Finnish Air Space: ( Yle ) Finnish foreign minister: Russian incursion ‘no accident’ n an unusual move on Thursday afternoon, the Finnish Air Force released a photo of a Russian Border Guard plane, which it says was taken in Finnish airspace on Thursday. I guess Obama will draw the next red line, Merkel will pretend that gets annoyed, Cameron will say that it's not the time, and the rest some mixture of that ones. I'm half in favor of sending some F-16s over and telling them we're going to knock out any insurgent armored columns we find but don't worry Russia, you don't have any troops in Ukraine so you have nothing to worry about.
