ARMA 3 Main Battletanks

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to ask, what you guys think the green army is getting for a tank?

Right now we know that Bluefor (I gues) will get the Israel-Merkava Tank, and Opfor will get the T90/T95/T100?

So far i could not find anykind of screenshots for the Mainbattle Tank of the green army, guess they will get Leopard 2A7+?

Here on these screenshots we can see the Merkava and i guess a modernized version of a T90 or T90 MS

But on this screenshot we also can see a T90 with a totally different cannon, and the cannon kinda looks pretty scary, more like a rail gun.

But i doubt that in 2035 tanks would be ready to fit with railguns,or it could be a canno of the caliber 130MM? or ist that just a fake screenshot?

It IS a railgun/coilgun. But on newer screenshots of the tank we see it with a normal gun. If they moved away from the railgun or we get both versions, we don't know.

Oh, and I would reeeeeaaaallllyyy like me a leopard :o

Coilgun, not a railgun. It's way different.

There are newer screenshots of the T-100? Where? I´ve not seen those...

Also, the T-100 is based on the Black Eagle, which was a next-gen MBT mockup based on the T-80 chassis as far as I know. Badass too, DKMM did a fantastic addon version of it for OFP/ARMA:CWA. Apparently BI aren´t just fans of their Comanche. :>

Green army probably won't have tanks, a dev mentioned somewhere their army had 10 helis and only 4 company's of infantry.

Yea, wouldn't make ense because green doesn't have the other two' level of resources.

On the contrary, green seems to be for Arma 3 what the CDF were in Arma 2. They currently have the heaviest lift helicopter with modern equipment as well as an advanced recon unit so they aren't exactly behind in tech, they may not have those resources "yet" and they aren't the "resistance" fighters.

They could have picked up some Challanger 2s cheap in Germany.

Didn't the coilgun get axed due to massive public outcry? I'm not sure myself but that's what I'm reading from some threads on the forum.

I think not , they created normal cannon variant too but one of devs said that this Coilgun variant will be like a Scud in previous arma titles

in other hand who knows - maybe changed their minds

That's not the point he's trying to make. Everyone can buy sophisticated equipment, but it needs to be maintained, supplied and integrated (communications, training etc) into your armed forces as well which in the long run costs a lot more than the price at which the equipment was originally purchased. If the mentioned dev comment about 10 helos and 4 companies of infantry is correct than it would be a force too small to maintain sophisticated MBTs like the Leopard (not sure where in Germany you would be getting cheap Challenger 2 tanks from since only the British army uses them ;))

^this, even if they could get the C2's from the BAOR in Germany, they would be hard pressed to maintain them (the helis would probably be expensive as is), as well as finding the manpower for them, since 4 companies is probably less than 500 men.

They arent CDF either. Those had bombers (Su-25), main battletanks (T-72), gunships (Mi-24) and transport helos (Mi-8).

Portugal has the EH-101 Merlin yet we lack alot of other important. An heavy lift helicopter is not only designed with military purposes in mind but also to be used in service of the civilian population (search and rescue). So yeah, honestly? I dont think they will get any MBT... my two cents...

Edit: totally missed the previous post. From which event is that screenshot? E3 2012 or 2013?

Here's a screenshot of an MBT with Independent camo.

Looking at the game's released screenshots since 2011, you can see pretty mcuh every vehicle in 2 or 3 different cammos. (blufor, opfor, ind. For example- opfor hunter : http://blog.realitygamer.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Arma3_screenshot_1202_3.jpg) I wouldn't count on that..

Correct, but I'm guessing those were placeholders until the real vehicles for the factions were built. So if Green had a MBT placeholder, it could mean that they will have there own MBT.

back then though, Greenfor was Greece, but now we have a much smaller force as greenfor.

Given the independants use a lot of opfor equipment, I reckon we'll see them using the opfor tank

It would be very disappointing if greens don't have their own unique MBT

Totally agree with you.

It would be nice to have some moderns tanks (modern for us now) like the Leopard 2, Challenger 2 or the M1 in an updated fictive version for 2035.

i think that will be a merkava with green's faction camo

I suspect that during the campaign, they will receive military aid from nato, ie, they will receive second line Nato MBTs and repaint those. There is a greenfor texture for the panther already ingame, which I suspect is also meant for the campaign.
