Iroquois Pliskin 0 Posted March 5, 2013 There are 11,317 people in the game right this moment, so Steam is picking up slack for BIStore - and for that I am grateful. Looking to get the Supporter edition as well, once/if they sort out the store and the dust settles.
concurssi 11 Posted March 5, 2013 Complaining about the game not arriving on time I can understand. Complaining about the morality of 'paying for a mention in the credits' I can't. You are free not to pay the extra. Cry me a river. Pretty much this. This thread stinks like a weeing contest about who cares the least about their spot in the credits. You don't care about it, that's cool, but why bring it to everyone's attention?
mr. bravo 17 Posted March 5, 2013 Obviously there are still a lot of people asking and wondering about whether they get a place in the credits or not, and that's probably why BIS felt the had to leave a comment on it. If you're not one of them, then why get all butthurt from comments about something that doesn't interest you? Everyone who bought the Supporter Edition had their reasons, whether it's about the goodies or the actual support. As long as BIS get that extra amount of profit from it, I'm glad, because that was the whole point, right? There's no doubt that this whole credit-thing was a major success for BIS pockets. As for all the problems, well things certainly didn't go as planned, and I'm sure BIS is doing all they can to fix it. I know several people who already got their Steam codes fixed by the support, so it's coming along. BIS have been informing about it through both Twitter and Facebook all day. As the moderators say, stay calm and have some patience. It's just a god damn Alpha. It's supposed to be a mess :P
NeoArmageddon 958 Posted March 5, 2013 Just got my key and I have to say: I would buy again in BIStore!
W0lle 1052 Posted March 5, 2013 Everyone who thought he must break rule §18 in here and discuss how the forums are moderated will soon get their infraction and ban from thread. You know who you are already I guess. Due to the forums lagging we act slowly but we will act. Wait and see. ;-)
mathiask1 1 Posted March 5, 2013 Just got my key, after 6 hours of waiting. :mad:BI Store officially goes on my black list. Dont blame BIS for this, they are doing what they can! Everyone who thought he must break rule §18 in here and discuss how the forums are moderated will soon get their infraction and ban from thread. You know who you are already I guess. Due to the forums lagging we act slowly but we will act. Wait and see. ;-) Forum is already getting faster :D
marker 1 Posted March 5, 2013 Wolle It was due to the fact that there was no information coming from Bis themselves that people were getting annoyed... Quite rightly in my point of view, there was reason to ask why threads were getting closed and no other information was being posted. If head office has updated the forum ASAP then you wouldn't have to close multiple threads on the same issue... If you feel that I have questioned the moderation of the forum, then ban me... But I will always question where £60 of my money has gone and the product hasn't been forthcoming...
jerryhopper 286 Posted March 5, 2013 I think many feel like me today. Remembering when I was downloading the OFP demo on my old modem and today felt just as exciting. 12 years later since OFP and I still love BIS and their games, I've also got a job and can afford to pay extra to my favorite publishers by buying support version. It was a day to remember and it will be, sadly for the wrong reasons. The money is gone, the game haven't arrived but what really brought me down was something else. The feeling that BIS and the mods think that all I care of is a name in the credits... All these years of hours and hours to make addons for the community and myself, all those hours playing .. and then to be treated like someone who wants to buy their way into the credits, I find it offensive to know that BI don't think higher of their community than that. I wanted to support you, thats it. Any relationship has its up's and down's, so I look forward and hope our relationship will continue to be a happy one, but today BIS, you have hurt my feelings. Cheer up mate!! Arma 3 Credits or not, Not many can say they were on SahraniRadio :) http://sahraniradio.com/en/shows/sahraniradio/ep13-with-granq/
granQ 293 Posted March 5, 2013 Bravo, perhaps I am misstaken.. maybe 90% do only care about the credits and being top 500, but judging from our community I would say 90% actually don't care.. they just want the game and support their fav developers... and thats why I think bis handled this poorly by adressing the people concerned about the credits, not the onces concered about the game. It didn't take long before I started seeing people posting from arma3's twitter that "we will adress the credits to make everyone happy".. but not much info about how to get the game. This made me feel upset that BIS seem to think people care about the credits more than their game.. so once again, if it is still hard to understand I make it very clear: * I like to give BIS money * I understand the server took a hit * I don't care about the credits but.. * I feel like BIS thinks their customers priority is in the credits, not getting the game.. and.. that was before the release, it was all those threads getting locked with mods saying something like "can't believe people care so much about being in the credits".. not at all thinking that we actually like the game.. and that message from bis moderators, personally opinion or not, combined with the actions (or non-actions) BIS did today is below my expectations. Nuttex 10 Posted March 5, 2013 Agreed with OP. I'd definitely give the credit up to somebody worthy of it from modding community (most likely one of mappers).
granQ 293 Posted March 5, 2013 nuttex, my personal opinion regarding the credits is that there should be some "We still miss you" for all the talented and helpful community members that passed away during this years, many struggling with horrible sickness, of course that gives less money for BIS but I think that would had been a nice gesture. I would support that. Regarding the Supporter Edition... I would/will buy it alone because of the goodies. I mean future DLCs Free? Come'on if that doesnt sound like a deal - what else is? krazikilla 5 Posted March 5, 2013 Ah comon guys, stop whining :D The only mistake they made is that they either didnt put the supporter version on steam OR didnt care about the webserver capacity. Means BIS lost quite some money, because me and hundrets of others who would have bought supporter version, went over to buy the cheapest version of steam instead - just for beeing finally able to play the game. Credits or not, who cares? Just look at dat game. Its the first day of alpha realease and its more polished then ArmA2 was weeks after its final release :) We all know that BIS is working tight together with its community, the devs are around every day, they are participating in discussions and building in wishes and ideas from us. What you want more? Dont get whiny because of the BIS marketing dudes do theyr job and are trying to get a bit more support sells by putting someone in credits. gossamersolid 155 Posted March 5, 2013 I'm not sure if you guys live under a rock or something, but in the age of digital distribution with a popular release, there ARE going to be issues the first few days. Bitching on the forums won't solve anything.
J0K3R 5 93 Posted March 5, 2013 Well what a day its been with the launch of the Alpha. It could of been handled a lot better. Myself, I bought 2 copies of the Support Edition, and only been sent a key for one of them. Got that 30mins ago, I dont care about the end credits. All I wanted was to be playing the Alpha and support BIS. But after today its left a bitter taste.
sagemred 10 Posted March 5, 2013 I think It's more to do with the fact that the people who did want their names in the credits made more noise about it because they paid extra and took a chance that they were within the first 500. Obviously, with the store grinding to a halt, this process became much slower and more uncertain for those who were bothered. Not everyone who bought the supporter edition even cares about the game. Some people just have money and loud voices. Don't take it so personally.
Placebo 29 Posted March 5, 2013 It was due to the fact that there was no information coming from Bis themselves that people were getting annoyed... Yes there was: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147505-Update-regarding-Store-Bistudio-amp-Arma-3-Steam-key-distribution&p=2313741#post2313741 And for the record if you guys can't access the store/websites/forums then we can't access the store/websites/forums to update you with what's going on, spamming new posts complaining, spamming new threads complaining, and then more new threads complaining about the old newly spammed threads being deleted does nothing but exacerbate the situation, when issues like this arise maturity and calm is required. Mattar_Tharkari 10 Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) Dunno what all the complaints are about? I heard it was steam exclusive, so bought it on steam, downloaded in minutes - all worked 1st time. Hosted an MP mission, made a map in the editor, lots of fun, a really cool 1st evening. Nice joke BIS BTW, switching the "G" key to throw grenade lolz. If I have 1 tiny complaint, it's the engine sound on the MH/AH-9 - too loud in cockpit and sounds like a chugging Isuzu diesel engine. Best feature is the multiplayer action - it can only get better. granQ 293 Posted March 5, 2013 Placebo, one could argue whats good information... the webhosting company I am using got flooded due to really bad weather. They kept us updated on things like "we got two more people working now, driving servers to a new location", "we will try restore tomorrow at 08.00".. in this day and age, to spread the word more efficiently about the progress is very easy. I think for instance it would had been good if we knew how many people are waiting for the keys, will you guys work at night to solve it? whats going on.. I am not angry, sad or drama queen, whining or bitching, people that think so takes my words way too serious, but to say everything is great and bis handled this is in a good way/the only way i think is counterproductive. Being a loyal customer also means that your voice your concern.. i recommend ArmA to all my friends, but here in "our community" I think we need to be able to look eachother in the eyes and say this went horrible bad and I hope there is plenty of lessons learned coming. My thoughts also goes to one of my unemployeed friends that was so eager to play arma that he managed to pay for 3 copies while he only wanted one, and he only received two. I think its disrespectful of some members here that just "stop bitching", if you don't have the capacity for empathy, then don't spend time reading this threads. slatts 1978 Posted March 6, 2013 Things didn't go smoothly today which is a shame, but if things get sorted swiftly and we all get what we want then let's just hope this is nothing more then a small blip on a big development radar
