Project 82 The Falklands/Malvinas war mod Work In Progress - Pics

Recommended Posts

Hi, while I haven't been around for awhile I do linger here from time to time. It is good to see that the community is just a strong as it was in the OFP days.

Nice to see the Falklands mod has entered the ARMA2 arena too. While I don't mind people PMing me about using the Skyhawk, in their mods, which I have in the past, I would like to point out that the ones I have given permission to use the A4 have never contacted me, or shown me the model they have converted to ARMA, which is part of my permission to use agreement with them. So by all means PM me if you wish to use it.

Cheers

By now we have just Port Stanley / Porto Argentino and the surrounding mountains that were site of main land battle between the RM and British Army against argentine forces.

Who knows, if the mod evolves, and we find onother island maker we should have also the Goose Green to San Carlos area, as well as icy South Georgia reminder of old good Ofp times.

But actually we are currently struggling to have a more than good terrain dedicated to Port Stanley.

In some missions I could anyway use good but incomplete Bushlurker 40x40 km Falklands terrain.

Hi Colonel_Klink,

I just made a formal request of your still beautiful addon.

Glad to see you here again.

I really hope that you find the right people. It seems like a lot of people have tried to recreate the OFP 1982 magic but often their efforts have been lone efforts, sometimes disparate. I really hope that guys manage to pull this off because this conflict seems well-suited to the RV engine, was momentous militarily and remains significant today.

We have just received cooperation and help by our new team mate LightningUK for mission making and campaigns, anyway if you are will to make some help doing missions or a campaign for the mod, well, you're more than welcome !

Anyway we are actually far for releasing a working mod, we indeed need one or more modders or config experts.

I will let you know when more stuff will be ready.

We did have a reasonable team back in the OFP days, and it was proved that it could not be a 1 man effort (although some parts were)

I have however provided to this team a reasonable portion of the FLK mlods so I hope they can do justice to what was done for OFP and bring them up to ArmA2 standards and allow for an even better visual of the Falklands than we managed back for OFP.

I appreciate the efforts made by you and former members of 1982 Ofp in the Falklands, CBFASI.

What you and your team mates did in the past must be seen as an example to the whole community.

What went wrong sadly, was only that you finished the work when ArmA1 was at the highlight, and no one seemed interested porting the work to A1 soon.

We will try to do that with A2, and the mission will be hard.

Anyway Big Thanks from the whole team mod for your support and files shared.

All previous pics have been made by Konyo, the artist of Wessex and Sea King choppers, he's very busy making two version for british and one for argentine Armada.

Next our other artist Foxtrot is working hard on a Skyhawk:

This is another view of the A-4B version, flown by grupo 5 of FAA.

And finally the A-4C version flown by Grupo 4.

This guy made also a nice version of the IA-58 Pucara, a counter guerrila aircraft designed and manufactured in argentina by FMA.

Pucara! Great aircraft, would love to see that as part of this for ArmA 2. Following with interest!

To NZDF and Nickeleye:

Skyhawk model is from an argentine guy who is making his own model using some parts obtained by Colonel _Klonk A4F, while the Pucara is completely his stuff started from scratch.

Need some improvemnets/enrichment in textures and weapons, but the work is quite completely done.

We need some help making british troops and pilots...

Do you have time or anyone to help us ?

Thanks for your positive feedback guys.

Last minute update:

Sea King S-61 of argentine ARMADA esquadrilla de helicopteros in two tone green camo and armed with two mk46 torpedoes.

SH-3D_Arg.jpg

Konyo is working very well making three version of the Sea King for our mod:

SH-3D Royal Navy armed with torpedoes, SH-3D RAF or RN Commando transport, S-61R Argentine Armada both with and without torpedoes.

Depicted an example of the argentine armada in two tone green camo, the same of the two examples wich made a daring rescue mission on Pebble island at the beginning of June 1982.

Looking promising. Is there any chance of a few screenshots of the cockpit and cargo area of the s61?

Hi gents,

again some nice pics from Konyo about the argentine S-61R Sea King:

ARG_SeaKing02.jpg

Here you can appreciate better the two tone green camo than replacd on some examples the standard US. Navy white livery.

Once the argentine flag is added and the markings are placed another step is done for the mod.

Well done Konyo

As you mentioned your looking for British stuff(...)

Well, there are the BAOR (British Army of the Rhine) addons out there too. I did not download/play/test those personally, but from the screenshots it looks like a solid base for improvement (textures/materials are rather minimalistic); they have some rare 70's/80's British stuff

Of those, only the Bedford MJ was used in the Falklands War (actually they were probably Bedford MKs since we only started converting the trucks to diesel in 1981; but they look the same). The rest would be of no use to this mod.

The only armoured fighting vehicles that Britain had in the Falklands were 9 CVR(t) from B squadron, Blues and Royals (4 Scimitars, 4 Scorpions and a Samson). There was also a Centurion BARV and a CET or two, but there's not not much use for those in ArmA. Fox, Ferret and FV430 were never deployed during the conflict, and Chieftain MBTs were certainly never sent there. :D

Otherwise, there were Land Rovers (Series III 109, 1/2 ton Lightweight and the 101FC), Volvo BV 202s and the Bedford MKs I mentioned before, plus towed weapons like the Rapier, 105 Light Guns etc. AFAIK the rest of the land vehicles used by the UK in the conflict were mostly cargo loaders and tractors like Eager Beavers etc.
