sickboy 13 Posted December 9, 2011 Oh yeah, I have the quest markers/compass etc disabled. But the map locations still show up. Ahhh, thats how you meant it, right, hmmm, well to each his own, imo having the location marked on the map is fair - as if you wrote the names on the map once you've been there :D
dmarkwick 261 Posted December 9, 2011 Yeah once I've been there having it on my map makes sense, but it's that first time... would be much more immersive to have to hunt the place down rather than be granted knowledge of it's exact location.
mrcash2009 0 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) 1. while i understand the reason for fast travelling, i wish this was limited in range, or at least to bigger settlements, and not every cave out there once discovered. For fast travel (off) - which I use as I dont like it: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2075 There is also a script for toggle of UI, no locations on compass or discovered or ones not found, but, I have noticed reports that it crashes with latest ASI loader, so wait for it to be updated. That said, once its updated you have to use your map more, which I prefer, and no spamming of compass with things you haven't seen yet. Also youc an keymap and choose versions. Its here but bear in mind it needs an update for 1.3 of scriptdragon (I posted link previous) from what I read in the comments, 1.2 is ok: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2204 BTW thanks Gunter you have been delving deep into mods :) Also I agree to fight while on horse and also have followers to mount with you would be great, plenty of people are asking for it, hopefully when the mod kit arrives this can be done. I ran 1.3 patch all is well, I did back up everything and wipe ini's so they re downloaded to be safe, 4 second pause issue is gone for dual core which was good. Even for AMD. Now i will go buy that house without storage issues. Edited December 9, 2011 by mrcash2009
Flash Thunder 10 Posted December 9, 2011 I cheated myself I have increased my players carrying capacity by like 150 pounds and Im only on adept difficulty I should be lynched... Also I fast travel a lot, It would probably be more fun if I had to walk everywhere come to think of it since Skyrim is so damn beautiful.
mrcash2009 0 Posted December 10, 2011 If anyone is experiencing low overall volume of this game I saw a fix, heres a better explanation: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1308380-bethesda-fix-the-low-sound/page__view__findpost__p__19686540 If you are experiencing low volume and you're listening to stereo speaker setup or headphones use the following settings as it seems Bethesda is not supporting stereo channel mixing correctly and it's NOT a specific hardware related issue 2.1 speaker users, set windows audio settings to 5.1 ... it then pushed volume back to normal, well, it did for me. dmarkwick 261 Posted December 10, 2011 One of the mods I've downloaded is the Darker Dungeons mod. Definitely a game-changer IMO, I actually have to use torches & light magic to make sure I'm not blundering into traps or creatures. And they are definitely 100% more scary :)
mrcash2009 0 Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Just thought I would post some mods I searched out that really help the game which are minor but much enhance, and are not graphical but game play based (all work fine with saves and 1.3): Some of the ASI mods need Scriptdragon, which is now fully updated for 1.3: http://alexander.sannybuilder.com/Files/tes/ScriptDragon_1.3.7.0.zip First of all if anyone missed it (doubt it but posting it anyway) the hi res map of all locations: http://www.gamebanshee.com/skyrim/mapofskyrim/skyrimmap.png Or in PDF form: http://www.gamebanshee.com/skyrim/mapofskyrim/skyrimmappdf.zip Toggle UI (needs script dragon): Toggle compass and turns off icons so no spamming of compass with places not discovered, configurable keys now works with 1.3 (also great for toggle of UI for screenshots) http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2204 Longer Sprinting: Set your choice of how much your sprinting isn't effected by stamina (so you can run full longer). I use a medium setting so not to be too silly. Im using setting 4 IE: "Sprint4.esp". http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=167 Higher Jumping: Sets how high you can jump, choose how much, again I use a little more just to not be silly (helps in mountains and stuck obstacles when normal jump just isn't quite enough) Im using setting 85, IE the file: "Jump85.esp". http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=164 Save Hot Key (needs scriptdragon): Configurable key to run a quick save, but instead of normal it creates a fresh save every time and doesn't overwrite like in game quick save (tried and tested with re loading in 1.3 and all is fine). Useful if you get a bug in a save but have multiple quick saves to hand prior to any issue. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2458 Shut Up Horse: Replaces the horse pain sounds and death audio to lower volume, (they are stupidly loud in the game). http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=782 Immersive Skyrim Thunder V4: Adds new thunder claps and rain audio which is ear shatteringly good in full thunder weather. Also sounds added for shouts (below effects and delays) Im fussy and these are really good. They are in open audio form so can simply remove what you dont like. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1702 I also use longer horse sprint and faster horse sprint but its posted already by Gunter previously in this thread here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=2069522&postcount=173 A few others posted around this thread seem to have issues with effecting triggers and things like that (not all but some) so make sure you check the comments section before downloading that will say if any issues may effect gameplay, the ones I have links here work fine, I tread carefully with mods :) Edited December 13, 2011 by mrcash2009
viper[cww] 14 Posted December 13, 2011 Immersive HUD is better http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3222
mrcash2009 0 Posted December 13, 2011 Thanks for link, I wouldn't say it was "better" becuase they both are doing different things. The one I linked deals not just with the viewing of HUD but more about what Icons get removed from within the compass (removing hover icon, location icon, and also removing the icons for locations you haven't found yet), which the one you linked doesn't deal with, although I wouldn't mind trying to combine them esp the cross hair reactive options that's great. viper[cww] 14 Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) No problem, It's useful if you just don't want any compass showing. :) __ Just uploaded my first texture to skyrimnexus aswel as modsaholic. http://www.modsaholic.com/page.php?id=62 http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3586 Check it out! :) Edited December 13, 2011 by VIPER[CWW]
krycek 349 Posted December 17, 2011 Hey guys,if anyone else is bothered by the constant respawning of cliff race....ahem dragons you could use this console command to disable them: set MQ106TurnOffRandomDragons to 1 Note that this command will disable only the random ones, the ones at burial mounds and story will spawn as usual.I was getting bored and pretty pissed with them after I killed about 30-35 random ones and they kept screwing up my game by killing villagers.Rorikstead was almost a ghost village and Riverwood wasn't far behind. mrcash2009 0 Posted December 18, 2011 You could argue its a good advert with steam for PC platform to be the saviour too, which isn't great in some ways.

krycek 349 Posted December 19, 2011 I'm lvl 48 and after visiting Jorrvaskr and try to leave the building I get a CTD every single time. Also it's already known the Agent Louis Letrush glitch where this guy gets multiplied.I have 6 of his clones at the stables in Whiterun.:p When one month passes another of his clone pops-up.Smith should be proud. I'm thinking to use disable command on his clones, but I'll wait for the next patch. I've also noticed the game doesn't dispose of arrows and weapons on ground.I even saw the arrows in Riverwood where I fought a dragon with the guards there at the beginning of the game. I'm thinking the game won't be very stable later if it's saving all this stuff.
sickboy 13 Posted December 19, 2011 Fix the CTD's with the 4 GB patcher. I'm thinking the game won't be very stable later if it's saving all this stuff.Nah you can store a hell of alot of information about objects in a small amount of memory.Besides you probably only really load the area you are in. For PS3/XBOX360 it might be somewhat different story, I think they had issues in FallOut for instance. But IMO apples and oranges.
VanhA-ICON 11 Posted December 19, 2011 For PS3/XBOX360 it might be somewhat different story, I think they had issues in FallOut for instance. But IMO apples and oranges. I have just started my PS3 version and I'm on lvl 6. No complaints so far. I played also fallout3 goty version on PS3 and it only lagged on DLC content for me. I'll report later if the problems arise after more into game.

viper[cww] 14 Posted December 19, 2011 Still waiting on the official LAA we were meant to be getting last week, apparently when 1.3 went live on 360 they were still in the testing phases.....

How better than unofficial, exactly? :P
viper[cww] 14 Posted December 19, 2011 No better ofcourse, but starting it via steam and not another .exe while steam is open is much better isn't it :p
mrcash2009 0 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) I treated myself to the Offical Skyrim guide that comes with a large map, I have never in my life ever done this for a game at all. Although after seeing reviews and youtube reviews it wasn't too expensive from "game", landed on doorstep today, chock full of info and map is great esp the stats section for characters/all weapons. Although I had bookmarked many sites mirroring information, nothing better to have a large book handy to skim read what you need while in game. Two things have happened for me ... 1) I needed to use for the first time Steam 2) I bought a game guide .... I think this game has some kind of hypnotic undertones :) BTW im not endorsing it here becuase im a skeptic about any "guide" but as this is a big ass game and its all new to me it has been worth it, although there is a part of me that remains slightly unclean about what I have done so far ... I agree as above that LAA fix would be better than addition hoop jumping and external processes running to keep it tidy :) Edited December 20, 2011 by mrcash2009
