krycek 349 Posted September 10, 2013 Indeed, don't like the movement of the ship one bit, also they said in the past that even though we're stuck with the same ship it would have plenty of rooms to visit but I've watched all the other videos and this ship is really small. It was compared with a smaller M6(corvette class) from X3TC/AP but if I'm comparing the size an M3 Nova fighter is actually bigger than this thing. Not to mention an M6 from past games simply dwarfs this Albion Skunk.I hope the ship didn't had all the features in Gamescom demo because if it is basically we're stuck with a beefed up fighter. It seems to have only cockpit area and the small cargo area where we get out from it on stations.
dontknowhow 33 Posted September 10, 2013 You can walk into capital ships, you can walk into stations, and even if you are stuck in one ship you can still pilot drones. Should be enough. The video is not the same, by the way, and if I'm not mistaking it doesn't show anything about walking in stations. The best information in that regard is probably the video already posted few pages ago in this thread:

nettrucker 142 Posted September 10, 2013 Well I believe you either love the X series or you hate it. :D The gameplay is slow . . . but having loved Homeworld I can live with that. The game has a steep learning curve as well as ArmA maybe even steeper I'd say. I've never finished X3 TC but from time to time I keep giving it a shot and keep going on from where I left. Patience is the main factor playing the X series. Well some people might argue it lacks a precise scope or goal to achieve. It depends on how you like to play it and what you want to achieve in this game. I never used cheat scripts, which gives you immediately a huge amount of credits to buy stuff, but in case you don't cheat . . . it's going to take you some time to create you own empire. I've never fired a shoot in X3 but this was on purpose, in the beginning I focused more on trading rather than fighting. X games are complex and it takes time to really get the hang on every feature this game comes with. It's what you want it to be and what you want to make out of it. But you need patience . . . lot's of patience. :bounce3:
sudayev 27 Posted September 10, 2013 I think that walking around the station will become pretty boring after a while because all them will look almost the same with the same points of interest, same thing happened to manual docking inside of station back in X2. It was fun for a few hours and later on everyone pressed the esc button to have manual docking procedure done thus saving some time. Are you aware there will be no full set of races in Rebirth. Probably The SPlits, The Borons and the Paranids are out for X-Rebirth. I judged this from interviews & AMA with Bernd Lehanh, nevertheless there might be expansions with other races and their universe available.
krycek 349 Posted September 10, 2013 Tbh I didn't cared much about the different races, they weren't very fleshed out and looked like something from 60'-70' sci-fi shows.Although I will miss the Split,my whole empire was basically builded on their back, pirating&capturing their TS's,then refurbish them into sector traders and later UTs.:D
suprememodder 11 Posted September 11, 2013 any artist designing spaceships should be forced to study rob cunningham or nick ebenhoch. those ship designs look terrible.

myshaak 0 Posted September 11, 2013 No races? Is that official? The news about Rebirth has been (or used to be?) so sparse I stopped checking the forums for updates. I liked the races. Of course the aliens were very cheesy, unoriginal and felt like copy pasta from Star Trek, but I liked the visual design of their ships... Boron's aquatic style, Argon hi-tech style etc.. Placebo 29 Posted September 11, 2013 Thanks !Look's quite arcadish though... I get the feeling that some stuff is either dialled down for the GC demo build or not implemented yet, ship movement seems to lack any kind of momentum or implemented physics etc and it seems to be in god mode as well. metalcraze 290 Posted September 11, 2013 Space physics were never there in X games (which was always a rather big downer) so I wouldn't be surprised is a full version will lack that as well. More disappointed you can control only one ship directly. Being able to exit one of your ships in outer space and jump into another with a different cockpit, loadout and behavior and play in a slightly different way was one of the appeals of X for me. Tonci87 163 Posted September 11, 2013 No races? Really? I don´t know if I should like or dislike that decission. Maybe there will be different nations like in Freelancer with unique styles?

Yeah, I wonder how that plays out. I was switching ships in TC all the time, sometimes speed and handling was needed, sometimes firepower, sometimes cargo. What will players do if they want to do some fighting, trading and mining? Rebuild the ship every time?

krycek 349 Posted September 11, 2013 Indeed,X3&TC&AP had some soft physics, the ships looked like they had inertia and different enough in handling. The player ship movement in Rebirth looks more like X2.

You also can't control capital ships, but you can tell the captain what to do: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=306576

If they can get a semblance of real physics for craft control -I'm in. Lets face it, your gonna spend a lot of time just flying in empty space -make it interesting. You also can't control capital ships, but you can tell the captain what to do:http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=306576 I know about the drones, it's just not the same as choosing to fly a passanger transport, then speeder, then cargo ship, then fighter and then heavy destroyer... and upgrading every single one of them. Or capture an enemy ship. In TC there was a bunch of random missions at every sector and I had a perfect ship for every single one... drones do not fit in that picture as a replacement.
