Got to say I'm disappointed and surprised at no campaign at release. Can't help but wonder how it's going to affect sales on release. Would "new" people to the series buy a game that doesn't have a solid single player element? I don't play online and although I'm happy enough playing in the "sandbox" it's a bit of a blow

PR-wise it would be smarter to delay the game, but then again the campaign in Arma is not really that important, and it won't be such a problem to wait for it as long as it comes out soon enough.

I think releasing the game without a campaign is a PR disaster, might aswell just call it an expanded beta.

Considering how quiet BI has been throughout this year about the campaign, I can't say that I'm even surprised, much less bothered.... Arma 2's post-release history should have told that that's what a supposed full release actually looks like.

On the other hand, pay attention to what DnA said:

For those, who played earlier games, and are fans of the series- no problem, there are a lot of missions created by the community, but for someone new, or someone who isn't an Arma worshiper, it's a game breaker. It's not a "game" if you can't play it out of the box, it's even worse than if it had a ton of bugs. I'd seriously consider moving the release, it would do less harm to the sales and reviews.

I personally won't be bothered much by not having a campaign on release (never have finished an arma campaign) but I wonder how this will effect reviews and what not... but I do belive it is better not to release the campaing rather than release a rushed buggy campaign ala ACR. But then again just extending the beta until the campaing is done would be the best would it not - I guess BIS has reasons they can't do that either.

I do hope we don't have a delay to release even if it is campaign-less. I want nothing but success for BIS - they've been making my "go to games" since 2001. I hope that whatever is released doesn't effect sales and reviews.

Newcomers and critics won't understand this decision and will judge the game on its current state after release. I personally don't have a problem with the campaign coming late, but i think it is a bad decision regardless.

I can understand where this is coming from, but honestly, I find the fact the campaign is missing hilarious, and honestly, the "I don't mind, community will deliver" reactions are sending the wrong signal yet again. We're again in a situation where everyone is saying "Community will fix it"... features missing ? No problem, community will fix it... Content missing ? No problem, community will fix it...

As I said, I can understand why the decision was made, but I'm disappointed. If the game isn't finished, don't declare it finished. This will backfire with reviewers. This will backfire with sales. There ARE people that have no interest in multiplayer. What will they do ? Play through the showcases for the tenth time ?

Edit: Yes, I saw that we will be able to download the campaign later, for "free".. That doesn't change the fact, though, that the game will come out unfinished.

sorry but... what kind of game releases core components AFTER final release? - the press is going to have your pants down on this one, sorry...

i haven't got a problem with waiting i just hope BI makes it worth our while if that makes sense.

its like waiting for BF 4 release and EA saying oh sorry we arnt releasing multiplier on release but don't worry its free to anyone whose got the game. (well obviously!!...)
